Amanda Branda Loves Those Inhalants

Summerfield, FL - Amanda Branda’s two young sons ran to a neighbors for help last Friday because they couldn’t wake their mother up and thought she might be sick. The neighbor, with the boys in tow, ran to the house to investigate and found Branda had locked herself inside her bedroom. After the boys removed the doorknob from the door, the neighbor could see Branda was out cold. When medical personnel arrived and failed to get a response out of the dazed woman, they kicked in the door. There she lay, her can of Blast Away well within reach. Once they got her on her feet, she was allowed to use the restroom – it was there that a female deputy witnessed her hitting the can again. The boys told officers they had seen their mother huffing from the same can while driving earlier that day. The woman really loves her inhalants – this is her third arrest for inhalation of a chemical substance since April. The last time she was busted, she was found slumped over her steering wheel in a WalMart parking lot. In that incident, the responding officer said it took him awhile to wake Branda, and as soon as she came to, she immediately took a hit off of her Clean Safe Dust Remover can. While being led away in cuffs for the latest incident, Branda, 31, admitted that she has problems. She also told officers she’s pregnant. It’s a damn shame they can’t mix birth control in with that shit – it’s gotta be pretty scary for a little kid to find mommy all passed out and stupid like that.

I just know I’m gonna have this shit stuck in my head for the remainder of the day…

Wasn't her Walmart bust featured here a while back? I seem to remember laughing about some chick huffing after being awakened by a cop.

And as I said on the Facebook post to this one, either her parents have a horrible sense of humor, or she married into a really unfortunate last name lol.

I was able to find the chick who was passed out in a puddle of her own vomit behind Office Depot though – she was busted at WalMart once, too!

One thing I've learned is that if something has a chemical in it, someone will try to get high off it. I remember back in high school there was kid who would huff the cleaning solution used on dry erase boards.

I've done my share of “balloons” at shows when I was younger…is that the same thing? It was fun, but not something I'd want to lock myself in my bedroom and do with my kids on the other side of the door…or at all anymore for that matter!

While what she did was reprehensible, the reality of the situation is, if women are locked up to protect their fetuses from inhalants, it's only a matter of time until women are locked up to protect their fetuses from (insert trivial reason here). Already in this country women are being put on court ordered bed rest.

We should not a do not simply become second-class citizens, incubating pods with no rights, just because we get pregnant. It starts with imprisoning drug users and ends up with women being incarcerated for having a glass of wine with dinner or going to step class.

I have to disagree with you Athena.

Once a woman makes a decision to carry a child to full term, there has to be SOME consideration for the fetus. After all, it will eventually be born and someone will then, most likely, be left with a severely handicapped child to care for. (And it probably will not be the irresposible bitch that did the damage.)

Saying that it would lead to “women being incarcerated for having a glass of wine with dinner or going to step class.” Is tantamount to saying that LE will lock up everyone that is in a bar because one of them may drive a car, or lock up everyone driving a car because they may go into a bar.

However, in the big picture… she has proven to be a habitual offender, so she needs to be locked up and forced to go through rehab for her own safety, as well as the safety of her other children.

When I was tending bar (i did for about 10y) there were several “women” that would come in and DRINK. Not a glass of wine, but put down shots and beer. I had a bit of hatred towards these bitches. But was told by my employers that it would be discrimination if I did not serve them and any refusal would be grounds for immediate termination. Fun. Fun. Fun. So they were served–before too long drunkin/tossed patrons would catch wind of pregnant bitch and start giving her hell. So it never really took to long.

Anyways, Ive NEVER understood why a pregnant bitch would want to go into public to drink. why not just do that shit in the comfort of your non-judgmental home? Same with inhalants–what kind of shit is that?! These assholes kills brain cells and pass out. That is the worst affect ever to be high. I do not get it.

People here in Atlanta used to use nitrous oxide from whip cream gas refills to fill balloons and pass them around because, until recently, there was no law against it in Georgia.

I understand the argument, but the fact is that CURRENTLY, women ARE being locked up to serve as incubators. I'll see if I can't find the article, but in Florida or Arkansas or some other politically backwoods state, a woman's doctor ordered her to bedrest through no fault of her own. A single mother with other young children to tend to, bedrest was simply not an option for her. A judge ORDERED her to bedrest regardless, threatening incarceration… the needs of her other children be damned. This is not an isolated case, either.

So, while I understand why you might find my analogy to be extreme, it's actually NOT.

The unfortunate truth is, sometimes, rights are in direct competition with one another. If a fetus is to be given rights, it automatically impedes the rights of the mother. In a perfect world, all women would make the right choice. But in the event that she does not, it is still her body – her choice.

While your logic is noble in intent, it is the same logic being used by anti-abortion organizations across the country.

You're right – pregnant women can legally drink, even to excess. So, what sense does it make to leave them free, but to lock up inhalant users? Research suggests that the *potential* damage done to mothers who huff are no worse than those who smoke or drink (emphasis on the word “potential” because most mothers who smoke or drink give birth to perfectly healthy children – not to say they should risk it, just putting it in perspective).

The same government that can force you not to have an abortion is the same government that can force you to have an abortion. Most anti-abortionists forget this fact. Others, whose real goal is policing women's reproductive capacities, do not. But, in the end, it's either/or: either the government has the say-so, or the individual woman has the say-so. Either/or.

I have this phrase that pops into my head when I hear about, or talk to, or think about certain people (especially meth heads) .. its “How have you survived this long?”.. It's a good come back to any stupid thing a person does/says, and its a good question, I think..

In some states there are laws against inhalants. So I guess, in those states, if they (the authorities) wanted they could prosecute. At the end of the day, pregnant women who choose to abuse alcohol, nicotine, and inhalants can not be jailed because of the potential harm to fetus. It would be a violation of human rights.

Just because my moral order is higher than that of a drug abusive pregnant women doesn't make it wrong or illegal. Those are just my little old thoughts.

One of my friends Gabe use to huff and he just huffed driving from a store
and passed out. He awoke crashed in a mans living room and the man had a
double barrel 12 gauge in his face. Can't say I didn't try it but never saw
the appeal. Plus I enjoy my memory and being able to form rational
sentences when I speak.

I am not suprised to see this out of her at all, she was a slut in school, in the military and in her marriages so this is what you end up with when you hook up with a very openly trashy person! Yes it was but what they didn’t feature is the even longer history. Military background and not a war vet and still recieved an honorable discharge due to her use but from my knowledge still recieves served time benefits. Her kids should’ve never been given back at that point!
