Couple Charged After Dragging Police Officer During Road Rage Incident
August 18, 2010 at 9:45 am by MorbidSALEM, N.H. - Police say that an officer was dragged by a motorist during a road rage incident. Reports are that the officer was directing traffic outside of the busy Canobie Lake Park on Saturday when one family that exited turned around and pulled up beside Officer David Hyatt. William Manning, 54, and his wife, Linda Manning, 46, began berating the officer expressing how unhappy they were his job performance. The officer then asked for their identification. “As he reached in to retrieve the identification from the passenger, the driver then yelled another expletive and stepped on the gas and took off at a very quickly high rate of speed,” said Dep. Chief Patten. Officer Hyatt’s arm got momentarily hung up and he was dragged about 25 yards before tumbling to the side of the road suffering a shoulder injury, scrapes, and bruises. William Manning was arrested, charged with reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer, and disorderly conduct. Linda Manning was charged with disorderly conduct but was able to leave the scene with the three kids that had been in the backseat the entire time. I am such a polite, calm driver that I just cannot relate to some people who get themselves caught up in road rage incidents like this one. When I’m surrounded by idiot motorists I just take deep breaths and do my Kegels.
