Indianapolis, IN – Fiona Lee, 26, is facing felony child neglect charges, along with charges of possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana after police were called to her home and found marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphenalia. Oh, and her dead 3-year-old daughter. While Lee was upstairs taking a shower, her three children, along with her boyfriend’s 4-year-old son, were all downstairs playing. In easy reach of the children was a .45-claiber handgun on a side table in the kitchen. The 4-year-old retrieved this handgun, aimed it at the little girl and shot her in the head. Even more tragic is the fact that the mother was aware of the gun. “The mother had walked by it several times, however did not secure it,” said Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell. Police do not know who owns the gun and have not interviewed the boy to try and determine if there was any possible intent, because his father left the hospital with him before police had a chance to do so. Lee’s other two children, who witnessed the shooting, are currently in the care of Lee’s mother.

It amazes me how freaking accurate children always seem to be, when holding and shooting a gun. Wish he had shot the mother, instead.

  • aka jas

My only thought is that she wanted this to happen due to her walking by the gun and never securing it.

  • mominAZ

    Agreed, Soobs!

I understand why the police want to interview the 4-year-old. They need to find out what transpired. However, I don't know why they would even TRY to find out if the 4-year-old shot with intent. HE'S FOUR!! Even if he says he was mad at the little girl for taking his Spiderman toy (or whatever), he's still four. He has no concept of life, death, consequences of his actions, etc.

  • Bohring

Like I've said, you must pass an IQ test and psych eval before being allowed to reproduce.

  • Intelligentvirtue

I agree. My son is five and argues with me that the doctor can bring “fix” someone if they die. This discussion came after another discussion regarding the dangers of crossing the street:-/

I think its a safe assumption to make that children at this age don't understand the permanence of death.

Anyways, what do the investigators intend to do of they find “intent” charge the 4 year old. Fuck idiot parents make me sick. Now 2 children's lives are directly scarred along with their families. SMH

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

I think they definitely should be inquiring on intent. If it was just an accident or he thought it was a toy then fine. But if he willfully shot the girl then I think someone should be made aware of that fact so this kid can get more help than he probably needs already.

  • Guest

Stupidity should be painful. But not painful for your innocent children when you are a stupid parent. People like this don't care. They'll just have more children.

  • darsa

My thought was that they might be trying to find out if someone “urged” the boy to shoot… maybe not the three year old *shrug* maybe the mom… Ugh, this is just horrible. I hope the bitch is a LITTLE more remorseful than she looks in her mugshot, at least. =/

  • JerseyMonroe

I thought the same thing. Maybe the mother or his father said something. For all we know the father didn't like the little girl and told the 4yr old to do this knowing the kid wouldn't get in trouble for it. Who knows, people are WACKY! So sad tho, poor little girl and the 4 yr old too..his life has changed drastically also.

  • Coyote

My guess is the boy thought it was a toy gun and had no idea of the consequences of his actions, but he definitely needs to be questioned; a child is dead because of what happened. First thing I’d like to know is who owns the gun and who left it loaded sitting on the table.

  • Yvonner74

She should b given the death sentence herself along with the boyfriend!!! They both left 4 not quite school-aged kids in the home with an unsecured weapon! I am SO sick & tired of everybody wanting 2 play 'gangsta' but not abiding by any code or law! In Indiana you can get your gun permit with no education or safety classes required!!! So all these young idiots run & get permits to carry & then more than likely due to their stupidity & nonchalant attitudes shoot some innocent person or allow some innocent person 2 b shot!!! FUKN ignunt azz baby making cunt bukets!!!!

  • Zombiephile

You. Stupid. Bitch. Leaving a loaded handgun within reach of your small children? REALLY? I don't even give my two year old whole fucking grapes, for chrissakes.

  • Lexismom

Another baby dead …. Something 120% preventable !!! Why would someone shower with toddlers in the house. When my kids were that age I woke up early or waited until they were asleep to do anything that required me to leave them by themselves , and I have never even owned a gun. And that smirk on her face in the mugshot makes me think she 1) has down syndrome and/or she doesn't give a fuck. Either way …. She needs a swift kick to the cunt !!!!

  • Bouken

I was flipping through the paper at work today and sadly saw a 3 year old girl listed in the obits. I wonder now if it's the same girl.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

If I absolutely had to have a shower when mine were little, I would have them come in the bathroom with me. Just bring in a few books or small toys. Or, wear a bathing suit (not that it matters when they are really young) and have a shower together.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

I really feel horrible for the 4 year old and the other child. That 4 year old is going to have to grow up with this hanging over his head for the rest of his life. I hope he gets some really good counseling because something like that has got to be hard to live with. Maybe not now, but as he gets older and understand death more.

As for this mother, fuck her! I hope she rots in jail and never recovers from the guilt that I hope she feels.

  • ceeceenaples

i agr ee why would you take a bath with babies in the house and why was a gun on the table in reach for a child to get .and another thing what kind of gun it was that a four year old just pick up and pull the i have trouble trying to pull it it is to many 3-4-5 years old with gun killing there sisters and brothers something not wright with this pitcher . it like say a 3-4-5 year old did it and ever thing fine and if the kid did it could some one had help why wont they see if that kid know how to use a gun ask him to show them what he did go from there

  • Lexismom

Yeah … I've had to shower/bathe with mine when they were younger too !! And another thought … That poor little baby will rememer that his whole life. Shit … My 5 year old remembers things from when she was 2. I feel so sad for them kids … I guess I just don't understand how things like this can happen.

  • karebu

don't forget cocked too…I seriously doubt a four year old baby is strong enough to pull the hammer back to fire the gun.

  • Sugarglider1

    ??

  • Sugarglider1

“He has no concept of life, death, consequences of his actions, etc. “

    Exactly.

  • Sugarglider1

“Wish he had shot the mother, instead.”

Seriously. Although, you know what really sucks, is now this kid will grow up always knowing that as an innocent 4 year old he shot and killed his 3 year old sister. Imagine the guilt.

  • Siobhan

It was probably a double action semi-auto, in which case all that was necessary was a round in the chamber, slide the safety off and then pull the trigger.
A .45 packs a hell of a wallop for the shooter, and you would think there would be some recoil injuries to the 4 year old – lacerations, or bruising that should be examined/treated.

I get so very pissed off when I read these type of articles, as this is one of the easiest home accidents to prevent. Most new gun purchases come with safety locks, and the locks can be purchased separately and cheaply.
If you *must* keep a gun loaded, put a lock on it, and put the locked gun somewhere that is inaccessible to children of any/all ages.
If you don't need a loaded gun, then purchase a gun safe that will store all of your firearms, keep them in it and keep it locked, and lock the ammunition up in a separate secured location.

  • Sugarglider1

See, that's because you are a responsible gun owner. Let's hear it for responsible gun owners. I'm all for it.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/F7IZ5A7XOSD6FY7ZINV3LBQKXM John

Children should be taught to never touch a gun and to report guns they see to their parents. Guns should be secured in a safe or gun vault. Tell children if they see another child with a gun, to run and get an adult.

  • mominAZ

Totally with you ParrotToes! When my son was little (2, 3, 4) I used to have him sit on the bathroom floor and play while I showered. And since I sing in the shower, he would join in the singing, so it was kind of fun and if I could hear him singing then I knew he was right there in the bathroom not getting into what he shouldn't be getting into.

as i say so often …….WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS KIND OF SHIT ALWAYS ALWAYS END UP BEING IN A 100 MILES OF ME???? I THINK SOME HIGHER POWER IS TELLING ME TO KICK SOME OF THESE MORANS ASSES. LOL soeey for cap locks but damn every week some ate up shit is happeneing in indiana damn hill billys

  • Jgo555

I've watched enough Jail docs to know that this idiotic drug dealer would have a better time in jail if she was caught for the drugs. When she gets there & the other girls hear that she let her kid shoot another one of her kids, she'll be in a world of hurt cause in women's jail the only thing that's sacred is children.

  • Lanod1221

Me again. I cant speak for anyone elses kids, but I have 5 year old twins, and they both fully understand the finality and the seriousness of death. Part of that I am responsible for. They know when youre dead there is no fixing that. I caught them hanging out of their bedroom window with the screen lifted. And yes folks, spankings were dished out. I told them I'd rather pop their bottom than for them to fall out of a window. And my younger twin cried and said “Yes mommy, cuz we would break our necks and die, and you'd be sad”. And also a family pet died, and my kids said, we will never see Sumo again. He died. All this to say ladies and gents, it starts with what we teach our children. If it didnt, all of our kids have access to the kitchen they could easily hack and slash a sibling or two if that was just a childs behavior. Makes me also wonder, why these young children aim for the head. Never a wall, or etc. Makes me wonder, what was being mimicked or what has this child seen.

  • J Van S

That's not a smirk on her face. She also doesn't have Downs Syndrome. She's just. Plain. Stupid.

The article says she's on suicide watch (as well she should be). Poor kids. That poor little girl. That poor little Boy and those sad little ones that saw this…

    Terrible.

  • esteban

he won't remember. I hardly remember what happened yesterday.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

He actually will most likely remember it. When something traumatic like this happens before 5, people tend to remember it. If he does block it out, chances are good that there will be flashbacks later in life. Also, he will know because people will tell him. How can something like that be kept as a secret? Someone will say something, and logically it would be the best way to go as far as dealing with his recovery, which he will need and I hope he gets.

  • Ajax151

Leaving a loaded gun in easy reach of a little kid? Gee, that's real smart. Some people really should require a license to breed.

  • Anna_B

How did Dad walk away with the son?

  • N/A

The “determine intent” part may be intentionally misleading — there's some reasonable skepticism being expressed elsewhere about a four-year old even being physically capable of manipulating and firing a .45 (typically a large, heavy gun). It may well be that they want to interview him to “determine who actually fired the gun,” but publicly stating that would alert the suspect(s).

  • Wolfcat87

Dude, I remember stuff from when I was, at the latest, 2 yrs old. It all depends on the person.

  • Wolfcat87

Or just didn't care or was just that dense and dumb.

  • Wolfcat87

They may mean they want to know if someone hinted at him to do it if the weapon was left out. “Other Mommy” or Daddy might have said, “Here's a toy gun, have fun shooting those cowboys and indians with it.”
