Fort Worth, TX – According to authorities, teenage incubator Shantaniqua Scott wanted to “make her life easier,” so she attempted to suffocate her special needs infant. Not once, but four separate times. The child, who somehow managed to survive under Scott’s care for an entire four months, was transferred from a Waco hospital to Cook Children’s Medical Center earlier this month for treatment of recurring, life-threatening gastroesophageal reflux and apnea. The baby boy had been staying in a video-monitored room when a code alarm sounded Friday morning, indicating that the boy’s vital signs were failing. Medical personnel were able to successfully revive the unresponsive child and he was then transferred to pediatric intensive care. When hospital staffers had a look at the surveillance video, they saw 17-year-old Scott pressing a blanket on the infant’s face before placing her hand directly over his mouth and nose. During questioning, Scott told investigators she didn’t want the kid anymore – wanted to go back to living a carefree life without the burden of a sick child. Investigators have reason to believe that this is the fourth time Scott tried to smother the kid to death, but details weren’t provided. She has been charged with injury to a child/serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony, and is being held on $25,000 bond. The infant, still hospitalized, is expected to recover. Once he is released, he will be placed in foster care because DCF is reportedly having a helluva time finding any “appropriate relatives.

that is just plain selfishness with that mom, wanting to kill her baby ,just so she could go out and party . thank God in heaven that someone seen her on a surveillance video trying to harm the baby.

  • WriterOnFire

What a selfish bitch. I hope her life is real easy now, just give a sheet & put her in solitaire!!

    Her myspace “http://www.myspace.com/mizzchocolate54″
Her very ironic status “*Nika Boo dont need nobody… Im my own company*”

She should never have spread her legs. Wonder if the baby was special needs before or after her first attempt to smother him??

  • Newmommy

Let's hope they do not drag out the termination of her parental rights for years. That can often happen and the child is victimized a second time. This makes you want to say that she should be sterilized, but remember she is a kid herself. If they are having a hard time finding appropriate relatives it could be a sign she was mistreated as well.

  • WriterOnFire

“This makes you want to say that she should be sterilized, but remember she is a kid herself”

I believe you meant to say it makes YOU want to say that she should be sterilized. Cuz you couldn't possibly know what I want.

Anyway, she got her “kid” card revoked when she got knocked up & decided that murder was the answer to her problems. I don't think she be be sterilized, I think she should suffocated, so why waste the money??

  • Jury

    Fort Worthless bitch!

  • ADC-82

this is what they call a high profile case so she would more than likely have gone straight to solitare away from all the other mom's in that jail that miss their kid's and would probably dish out some form of real justice,

  • Newmommy

I would assume that you were smart enough to understand that I was talking for myself and not you. I would not think to speak for you, because you appear to lack compassion and sound confrontational. Before you check people make sure that what your typing makes sense add be next time.

  • XenMojo

I firmly believe that one day, it may not be as soon as we may like, but ONE day, she will slip leaving whatever car or house she has been hooking out of and crack her head good on something. Then she too will be a special needs case and one of her “appropriate relatives” can smother her pathetic ass 4 times too!

  • KAOS

Why don't they just smother this cunt bag, revive her, then smother her, over and over and over again. Or better yet, waterboard the bitch on a daily basis.

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

“I would not think to speak for you, because you appear to lack compassion and sound confrontational.”

This from a person who made a “joke” about autism regarding another story.

” Before you check people make sure that what your typing makes sense add be next time.”

Perhaps you should take your own advice, since “add be next time” at the end of your sentence makes no sense.

  • WriterOnFire

“I would not think to speak for you, because you appear to lack compassion and sound confrontational.”

Then don't reply to my comments.

“Before you check people make sure that what your typing makes sense add be next time.”

I thought I was pretty clear in my writing but I'm amused that you felt “checked” anyway.

And yeah, I have no compassion for someone that can actually look into the eyes of a defenseless, innocent baby & press their hands on his nose & mouth until he goes unconscious. None.

  • sdtangler

She should be sterilized. Failure to do this makes us all complicit in any future abuse or murder.

  • Newmommy

Re-read what she wrote and you will see that she put the word be in twice. When “should have been put in the sentence, Learn to read and comprehend, it would make the world a better place.

  • melb1970

Two stories in one day about Mother's killing or trying to kill their children because they're special needs.
Quite frankly, I see no redeeming value in someone who is so selfish as to murder a child or attempt to murder a child.
What pray tell is there to rehabilitate here?

  • WriterOnFire

Glad to see you took my advice & stopped replying to me. However, I do not see your point, as you're still not making sense. I looked back at my comment earlier & noticed I had omitted the second “be” as in “should be suffocated”, so I added it.

Are you implying that makes my comment unreadable???

  • Sugarglider1

Yeah, I think the fact that they believe she tried to kill him not just once but 4 separate times pretty much decimates my compassion zone for her. Abortion is legal. She should have had one. She didn't, and, well, fuck her.

  • sarahl4d

I wonder if she is pro life? I mean, why not have a fucking abortion in the first place?!
Or maybe, she believes that attempted murder is more forgivable than abortion?
Enjoy your “carefree” life in jail!

  • Breadstix

    I like your style ADC.

  • Valannb22

Is it really so hard to put a child up for adoption? I have no idea how that would actually work, but can't you just call DHS and give them up?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Amanda-Fields/100000974105457 Amanda Fields

want an easier life you little hosebag? Keep your legs closed!

  • Sugarglider1

Seriously! Yeah. I'll bet you're right. It's scientifically factual that before 16 weeks (which is beyond 1st trimester), a fetus doesn't even feel pain (can't, because that part of the brain doesn't exist yet). But noooo. Yeah, she probably thinks abortion is wrong. But, once there's an actual child out there, breathing the world's air, probably thinks its “hers” to do with as she pleases. Stupid bitch.

  • Newmommy

I guess your are someone who takes trivial things so important. But back to the point she is young, so judging her as harshly as some of the older parents that have been featured on this site seems to be very unfair. Yes, she should lose her rights to the child and be counseled against becoming pregnant again but to want her dead. Kids make mistakes and cannot fully understand the consequences of their actions. While consequences are needed yours are ridiculous. I think there are more important things you can do instead of going tit for tat with me. I said what I said, take it and do what ever you want with it.

  • Sugarglider1

Well, I have to say, she was 17, not 12. “Kid” is a bit overstated in this case, no? And she knew the consequences of what she was trying to do: she was trying to kill him. “Death” was the consequence she was explicitly after. 17 year olds know that killing someone kills them…

  • Sugarglider1

p.s. I think the thing that's so troubling in this case, and what disgusts WriterOnFire so much, is her own stated reason for what she was doing: 100% heartless and selfish. And she could have turned the infant over to authorities, seriously.

  • WriterOnFire

    You totally rock Sugarglider1.

  • WriterOnFire

I guess that answers my question huh???

As for her age, I've said before & I'll say again. My 12 yo fully understands the consequences, (both legal & moral), for harming a baby & I believe she is a fair representation of an average preteen, so I can't accept youth as an excuse.

I see nothing ridiculous about an eye for an eye.

  • Sugarglider1

Oh! Why thank you. That's really sweet of you to say. I like you, too! :-)

  • WriterOnFire

    Anytime :)

That's saying a lot coming from me, a confrontational dummy with no compassion who can't type lol.

  • ADC-82

    Crazy people got style,what can I say….

  • Sugarglider1

I am usually overly compassionate, if anything, to mothers who are overwhelmed, overworked, impoverished mothers (or, in other cases, mothers who are being abused or have been abused in the past), but Shantiqua…between her actions and her words, I don't feel any warmth at all for her. All she spoke of was herself (although she could have made her life “easier” by simply relinquishing him). It's not even like she said, “oh, he was suffering so much, I just didn't want him to be in this agony.” Not that this would have made her actions acceptable, but it would make more sense than the utterly selfish reason she gave for her actions.

  • Newmommy

There are always factors that we are not made aware of in the media. In no way am i saying what she did was right. I was attempting to say that we learn how to parent by the way we were parented. They are unable to find a suitable relative speaks volumes about this young ladies upbringing. I want the baby safe first, and then hopefully the young mother can atone for what she has done. Who she is at 17 may not be who she is at 40.

  • Sugarglider1

There may well be a cycle of neglect, etc, and that IS always a tragic thing.

As for the possibility of rehabilitating her, I am all for efforts to rehabilitate people and reeducate them and all of that. But I can't say I feel too optimistically about this particular young woman.

  • Acacia

I have to agree with Newmommy. Writeronfire, Kudos to you on raising your child correctly. I, myself would like to assume that all children comprehend consequences the same, but they don't. It is irrelevant that she was an older child. Yes, 17 is still a child. If no one in her family was fit to take this baby in, I am assuming she wasn't raised in a proper environment. She was probably not raised to know legal, let alone moral consequences. If the entire family was unfit, how moral can they be to teach her? Yes, I do think she should be punished, but I don't believe in an eye for an eye. I wouldn't wish death on her. Torture, maybe…. but death is a bit extreme.

  • Acacia

I agree with you 100%. I thank god I had the parents I had. Not all paernts teach their kids right from wrong. Not all parents show their children love. I am a strong believe in nurture in nuture vs nature. She was probably selfish because 'Monkey see, monkey do”. We do what we know. As we become adults, we are truly recovering from our childhood. She is still a child. When she becomes and adult, who knows…. she may want to kill herself for being so stupid.

  • WriterOnFire

“she may want to kill herself for being so stupid.”

What's so different from her wanting it years from now & me wanting it today??
I'm just trying to up the timetable.

  • Guest420

Hey shant, if you are tired of the hard life i have an idea for you, jump off a bridge or .38 in the mouth and leave ur fucking kid alone!

  • Jgo555

What I don't get is that she freely admited she wanted to kill the child. Doesn't that prove intent that means she should be charged with 1st degree attempted murder or the same charge that people who solicit murder for hire get.

I don't think this girl will ever grow up. She still has a childish attitude & she'll finish growing up & still be immature. Haven't you met people that are freaking in their 40's & they're still immature 9yr olds in their heads, actions & words!?

  • ProudWife05

We all want an easier, but, I assure you that killing or trying to kill your child will not get you one. As of for her age, I don't think it has anything to do with it. I was a young mother, but that was my fault. I lived and learned. I got a job went to school and still took care of my child. This bitch has no excuse for what she did.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

    *Ahem*

“When “should have been put in the sentence, Learn to read and comprehend, it would make the world a better place.”

    That should be:

“When “should” should have been put…….”…..blah blah blah.

    Comprehension works both ways.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

I absolutely hate it when people try to correct other people's errors, yet make more errors themselves.

    You said:

“Before you check people make sure that what your typing makes sense add be next time.”

    Should be:

Before you check people, make sure that what you're typing makes sense. Add “be” next time.

Also, WriterOnFire wasn't correcting any of your spelling or grammar. She was merely pointing out the misuse of the word “you” that you used. Well, I suppose that is bad grammar, but moreso bad form.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

Yup….smother and revive, smother and revive. That's what she should get before a good ass beating from Bubette. I have no sympathy for this bitch, young or not.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

    Nice avvie. :D

  • ProudWife05

Thank you. I see you have a gray, how old?

  • DaBigKoasta

PT, how in the world are you using the bold and italic function for the comments??? I can't figure it out… maybe I'm tarded…

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

Around 4….I have 7 parrots though. :) My babies.

  • Parrot Toes (kathybird)

Uh oh…I replied and it's gone. Was I giving away a secret? Am I gonna get slapped now……o.O

  • DaBigKoasta

It's ok!! It's still in your Disqus profile so I saw it. :-) Yay thank you!!

  • EveryVillainIsLemons

You know, the world would be a better place if you would learn to use punctuation appropriately.

For those that would like to defend this individual because of her age: when I was 17 I was a dumb stoner, but I knew the difference between right and wrong and I knew that killing a baby was wrong. She should have known that difference.
Maybe I just haven't noticed but I'm surprised not to have seen a report on Stephanie Rochester, the 34 year old former Children's Hospital counselor who was charged with smothering her infant son to death because she “was afraid the baby was autistic and she wanted to have a fun life. At first I felt bad for her because I thought she was suffering from post-partum depression, but then it became clear she was just a self-absorbed sociopath. Now this one surely should have known better!
