Dwayne Moten Didn’t Think Shit Through

Dallas, TX – One of our awesome fans sent this little tidbit our way via email. Dwayne Moten, 20, wasn’t pleased that his ex-girlfriend, slash baby momma, was hooked up with someone new and he wanted custody of his 3-year-old son, Dwayne Jr., so he came up with a brilliant plan. He would hire a friend to shoot him a little bit and would place the blame on the baby momma’s new boyfriend! He’d spend a couple hours in the ER, baby momma’s boyfriend would go to jail, and he’d have his kid. Splendid! What could possibly go wrong? Moten and his chosen friend, 20-year-old Jacob Wheeler, put the plan into motion Saturday afternoon. Wheeler played his part, but what was supposed to be a mere flesh wound turned into a fatal shot. “He was actually planning on shooting him in the thigh and shoulder,” Dallas police homicide Sgt. Bruce McDonald said. “I don’t know if [Moten] flinched and turned sideways a little more. The bullet entered the chest cavity and was fatal.” Oopsie!!

Moten soon realized that the injury was a bit more serious than he had planned and was on the phone with 911. Funny thing, though, in the midst of all the pain and blood and dying and shit, he forgot to implicate the baby momma’s boyfriend. Fail! Now he’s dead and his friend is facing a murder charge. I don’t know how the police added two and two and came up with murder, but Wheeler was arrested on an unrelated aggravated robbery charge Sunday morning and slapped with a murder charge as well. He’s being held on $750,000 bail. Police say both Moten and Wheeler have extensive criminal histories.

For the Dreamin' Demon site… this is a feel-good story! Sure, Dad dies in the end. And yeah, Dad was going to frame another guy for murder. Plus, Dad's buddy now faces a murder charge. But hey, this mentally-challenged bungled up plan was all for the sake of winning custody of his three year old son. Kind of sweet… in a dark comedy, Laurel n' Hardy in the 'hood kind of way.

I spent a total of 28 years in Police work-25 of them were in Los Angeles with LAPD-I have seen some stupied stuff. Just about the time I think I have seen it all-some idiot comes along with a new one that leaves me speechless. I saw this on TV and sat utterly speechless. I could not sign-on fast enough to post this on my face book page so other coppers could sit and LOL as well!!! Next time-hire a better shot!

I want to thank you Shaakira for not being so closed minded this is not directed towards you at all. This is coming from A-N-N-A someone who knows Dwayne personally. First of all the media was quick to say he was a felon but mentioned nothing about how how he changed his life around. He worked hard and would be graduating from school in October. HE HAS PERSONALLY GONE TO CHURCH WITH ME & PRAYED WITH ME! It is hard to get custody it is not as simple as going to court and saying you want custody so imagine how much harder it was for him as a father and felon. NO ONE DESERVES DEATH! Who do you people think you are??? ONLY God can judge him NOT YOU….No one deserves death I don't care what they do. He was a good person who just made a stupid choice (we all do)unfortunately it cost him his life. I mean have some respect for the people who are mourning over him it's hard to read stuff like this. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HIM you have no right to talk about him. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!! I pray for all of you because it is just sad how old hearted you all are. We have every right to judge him on here. He took away a young boy's dad and his best friends freedom and was also planning on ruining another man's life (the boyfriend of his ex). It was very stupid what he did and as far as I'm concerned, Karma did a good job on this one. It's just a shame that now his son will never have many good memories of his dad.

Did you really expect to google his name and read nothing but praise from people who don't know him? The worst things that family and friends can do in situations like this is come to forums such as this and try to convince us how good of a person he is or tell us how heartless we are. We are strangers looking in from the outside into a very strange and twisted tale that this guy created. It being in the news makes it our business whether you like it or not. You do him no justice here, sorry if you don't like that, but that's just the way it is.

You know, no matter how asinine I thought of this plan of his, you are absolutely right. This guy was willing to go through a shitload of pain to get his son, and had it worked (and the mother and boyfriend deserved the repercussion from it), it would have been pretty awesome.

Yeah its sad how someone is so quick to judge someone else when they don't know a thing about either one of them. It's stupid and it's childish….Dwayne and Jacob may not have been perfect but like you said not everyone was born with a silver spoon some people have to live life the best way they know how. No problem I'm glad you could see where he was coming from. Im not saying what he did was right & I don't agree with what he had planned (if it is the real story) I don't even know the whole story I just know Dwayne is not here to tell it so the truth will never be known. But @ the end of the day he loved his son you could see it in his eyes when he was with him and hear it in his voice whenever he talked about him and his son love him just as much. I don't agree with what he did but Im a mother and I know I will do whatever I have to do to protect my son from anyone even if it cost me my ife. That is unconditional love that Dwayne displayed….and if I could just reach out to one person than I'm happy with that =)

I can sympathize with the family for their loss, but please tell me where one instance of common sense ever appear during the the planning of this ? That is what I find funny, that they thought that it would work. I'm not cheering the loss of a bad person – I didn't know him & that is God's call not mine – just the circumstances.

First of all Im grown and I can go wherever I want. Truth is I was trying to read the story and ran across these disturbing comments about my friend. We will never know the truth because Wayne is not here to tell it. Even if it was true I'm not saying it was right I'm saying HE DID NOT DESERVE TO DIE no one does and that is cruel for you all to think that way. Like you said KARMA will definately come back around I just hope it is not as painful on you all as it has been on Dwayne's & Jacob's friends and family. it's not anything hilarious about this, now this little boy has no father due to the court systems favoring the mother as the primary caregiver whether shes fit or not. this was a very good friend of mine and now his life is gone.

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to the zoo makes you a zoologist. He may have put on a good show for you to convince you to be a character witness, or he may have been sincere. Either way, I see two possibilities here:

1. Your friend conspired with his friend to get shot and frame the babymama's boyfriend for the crime.

Or

2. Your friend's friend shot your friend over something else and made up the whole story to attempt to get away with murder.

If the first scenario is true, I have NO sympathy for your friend. There are plenty of fathers' rights advocates who could have helped him. He just needed to be patient and do things lawfully, if getting custody of his son was his true objective.

They are better than the media is making them out to be? Obviously they didn't have a better plan. Obviously Jacob was not a very good shot. Either way Dewayne wouldn't be dead. I think they made themselves out to be what they are and no amount of attending middle scholl or high school with them is gonna change that. If Dewayne had changed and was getting his life together he wouldn't have planned multiple crimes and ended up dead. Dewayne is dead because of Dewayne. And his kid is better off. Jacob is just plain dumb.
