Manuel Rosales Charged With Slitting Throats Of Daughter, Infant Grandson

Lehigh Acres, FL - The dude with the really rad hairdo is Manuel Rosales – his ugly mug is staring back at you today because the murderous miscreant allegedly got all slash happy on the throats of his 21-year-old daughter and her 3-month-old son. Manuel and his daughter, Karminda Rosales Salazar, didn’t exactly have what you would call a ‘close’ father-daughter relationship. According to authorities, Karminda has been trying her damnedest to keep Daddy Dearest out of her life and there is a history of domestic violence between the two. In 2008, officers arrived at the Rosales home and found Karminda battered and bruised, supposedly by the hand of her father. Though arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery, Manuel was not prosecuted. In May of ’09, Karminda asked for and was granted an order of protection from Manuel after another incident of abuse. As luck would have it, that order expired last Thursday. Whether the two had contact prior to the expiration of the order is unknown, but whatever the case, the two were reportedly living in the same home last Thursday when Manuel lost his fucking mind.

According to authorities, Manuel and Karminda were arguing outside the home when he attacked. She ran into the house, where her two children and a female witness were located, with Manuel right on her heels. He continued to threaten his daughter and armed himself with a kitchen knife. When the witness tried to intervene, Manuel threatened her too. He chased Karminda out of the house and the witness locked the doors. Moments later, Manuel busted through a glass patio door. As he was entering from the back, the witness ran out the front and discovered Karminda bleeding in the driveway…her throat had been cut. Authorities say Manuel then grabbed his grandson, Josue Rosales, and exited the home. He reportedly placed the child in front of his mother and said, “Here’s your bastard” before slitting the baby’s throat. Right there where Karminda could see it happen. He then slashed her throat two more times. And that brings me to this question…why the fuck is that deranged bastard still sucking up oxygen? Josue did not survive the attack and as of late Friday, Karminda was still in critical condition.

Initially jailed on $2 million bond, Manuel, 43, was deemed a flight risk by Lee County Judge Leigh Frizzell Hayes, and bond was revoked. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 21.

This shitbag murderer clearly thinks he owns his daughter. As for her, I wish she'd gotten some counseling and gotten the fuck out of there before her child got killed. She just have huge issues, living with him while knowing he was prone to violence.

That poor poor girl. I can't imagine what her life has been like, but nothing would surprise me. This bastard has destroyed her. He has no right to continue with his life. And anyone wonders why people like this poor girl end up on drugs and alcohol, and keep repeating the cycle?

I have said it before and will say it again – I have incredible sympathy for adult victims, UNTIL they become victimizers themselves. Then, I think we need to just get rid of them. Period.

It sounds as if Karminda was on the right track – trying to get away from her father, and there is no indication that she was a bad parent. Maybe she has some inner strength that will get her through and break the cycle. I'll be praying for her.

Wow, in my world, daddy's love their daughters. I bet this POS molested her, I just wouldn't be surprised. It sounds like a sick cycle that had been going on for years. I almost wonder if one or both of her kids was his. Yuck. It would help explain why he felt both of them were “his” to do away with when he wanted to. I feel so sorry for Karminda losing her baby like that right in front of her, at the hands of her own flesh and blood. Just sad…..

Whatever, the details are I truly hope his daughter survives & recovers both physically and emotionally from the attack.

Hmmm, sounds like her sick father was jealous that she had a child with somebody other than him! Strange that she was living with him when she knew he was so abusive.

I think when you get an “Order of Protection” it should mean that you are issued a gun and a concealed weapons permit. That way when the asshole finds out somebody has been granted an order, they will know for sure that the person they are messing with is capable of taking them out. They just might stay the fuck away!!!

There is a mentality among some men – I don't know if age/generation or culture is responsible – that children and spouse are possessions. My father is that way. It's very old school. My grandfather was Russian, my grandmother Sicilian, and they were very traditional. My father sees females as housecleaning burdens and males as the breadwinner and decision maker. Children are emissaries of him, and any achievement or failure they have reflects upon him. Any variation from that paradigm does not compute, and is in fact questioning his very identity and masculinity. The reaction is explosive and intense, and he feels deeply threatened by any questioning of that relationship. It sounds like this guy is like that, but totally amplified to beyond insanity. I am sure that the entire time she had the OOP on him, he was seething with rage that she would dare try to control him. I'd imagine he feels great shame and humiliation that she was an unmarried mother. The world is all about him and his vanity.

“He wanted to know at all times where she was, what she was doing,” said Madeline Rosales, Manuel Rosales' estranged wife.

Her husband and stepdaughter were affectionate toward each other, hugging and kissing and holding hands. Manuel Rosales treated Karminda the way a husband would treat his wife, Madeline Rosales said.

Manuel Rosales' behavior led his wife to suspect her husband was the father of Karminda's older son, 1 1/2-year-old Brian Rosales. She doesn't believe he fathered Josue, the 3-month-old boy Manuel Rosales is accused of killing May 20.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office hinted at the possibility of incest when it reported that Manuel Rosales stabbed his daughter, although it would not confirm Wednesday it was investigating that angle.

Despite his violent history, Madeline Rosales can't imagine what might have compelled him to slash the throats of Karminda and her infant son, as he's accused of doing.

“It's something crazy,” she said. “I don't know what could have gotten into his head. I really don't know.”

Manuel De Jesus Rosales will spend the rest of his life in prison after taking a plea Tuesday in the murder of his grandson and attempted murder of his daughter.

The 45-year-old Lehigh Acres resident pleaded guilty to a first-degree murder charge and an attempted first-degree murder charge.

It’s a move that spared him possibly facing the death penalty if he was convicted of the crimes in a trial. Instead, he will serve two consecutive life sentences in prison.

Assistant State Attorney Anthony Kunasek said the state’s decision to drop the death penalty was difficult.

This was a senseless and horrific murder of a 7-week-old baby and attempted murder of a young mother that affected many lives,” he said. “In this case, we had extensive discussions with the surviving victim regarding her desires and the resolution of this case.”

Before he was sentenced, Rosales addressed the courtroom through an interpreter and said he wasn’t crazy, but it was “witchcraft” and the “devil” that led to the events of that night.

“I don’t feel guilty about this happening,” he said. “I always did my best.”

Rosales broke into tears as he said he wanted forgiveness from his daughter for what happened.

“But when the person is possessed by the devil, you don’t understand anything about that,” he said.
