Neglected Elderly Woman Found With Bugs In Her Mouth

Grant, Fla. – Richard Cassin has been arrested and charged in what sheriff’s deputies called the worst case of elderly abuse they’ve ever seen. Coming from sheriff’s deputies in Florida, it must be bad. So were they exaggerating? God, I hope not. When paramedics were called to the home Cassin shares with his 82-year-old mother Florence Cassin, they walked into a horror movie. The arrest reports states that Florence Cassin could only moan and cry as she lay in a bed swarming with thousands of gnats and dead roaches on her pillow. She had insects inside her mouth, rotting food stuck in her hair, and eyes coated with a yellow and green discharge, and she was wearing a dirty diaper. The report indicates that the smell coming off of her was overwhelming – and we all know if someone in Florida says that a smell is overwhelming, it must be bad. She was rushed to the hospital and placed in intensive care. An intoxicated Richard Cassin explained that he had not taken his mother to the doctor in two years because “they just poke and prod her” and he figured “she would just die.” You can check out some video here that has a couple of neighbors weighing in as well as breaking Floridian stereotypes.

      There is no excuse for that kind of shit…none. That poor woman has probably been wishing for rescue, or death, for years. When I think about the conditions she has been living in, I just want to cry. After I vomit, of course….

      If they were exaggerating, then that would mean that they were lying and that they have seen worse cases than this. And like I said, God I hope not.

      This is just sad. I wish someone would cut his legs and arms off, fix him up so he heals properly, then leave him in a dirty trailer on an IV to sustain life for a long time and do nothing other than change the IV once every couple of days. Let him get infested and rot while being able to do nothing to help himself.

      When will I learn not to eat while I'm on this site! This IS NOT a case of a son not being able to keep up with his mother's care! How does a situation even get that bad??? The fact that she was still alive, means that he must have been feeding her, which means that he would feed her and leave her in an infested bed! The only thing that I could imagine is that this man STAYED drunk at all times. What a horrible situation. No one should have to live like that.

      This story really ran me through every emotion. I feel absolute disgust for somebody that could do that to anyone that was depending on them, let alone their own mother! I was my dad's caregiver throughout his battle with cancer and now I care for my mom who recently had a stroke. Their well being and comfort was/is ALWAYS at the forefront of my mind.

      Somebody should strap this POS down to a filthy mattress and leave him in an abandoned house and let him rot slowly in his own waste.

      I hope his mother is aware that she is now safe and being cared for appropriately.

      Poor lady. I cant imagine her suffering. She must have been in so much misery. I hope she is now in the hands of some really big hearted, compasssionate care givers who see to her every need, and keep her as pain free and comfy as possible. As to her son? Have fun detoxing in prison, you jackass. I have a feeling he's in for some torture himself.

      Pretty terrible to think that when he was a helpless little infant, she took care of him. Now she's old and helpless and he leaves her in a rotting diaper hoping she will die. This man is a lump of shit.

      Every time I start thinking that each of these stories is one of thousands and I feel myself starting to lack in empathy or any sort of sympathetic response I find something like this.  What a piece of fucking shit this guy is.  I mean that is so fucking terrible that I really think he should just be put to death immediately.  What a fucking scum bag piece of shit.  Wow.  Fuck you bastard.
