DEERFIELD BEACH, Florida – Deerfield Beach Middle School is becoming a hot bed of activity lately. First we get the story some of their students setting another student on fire and now we have a 15-year-old Deerfield student having her head turned into mashed potatoes by some limp-dick asshole. Josie Lou Ratley, 15, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after being attacked by Wayne Treacy, 15, who reportedly was enraged over some comments he heard Ratley had made about him. Witnesses say Treacy ran up and attacked Ratley at the school who then fell to the ground and struck her head on the sidewalk. Treacy then began using his steel-toe boots to repeatedly kick and stomp on the unconscious girl’s head. Onlookers tried to stop him but a teacher had to physically intervene and pull him off Ratley. Treacy was arrested and is currently being held in Broward’s Juvenile Assesment Center. Investigators plan on charging the boy with attempted murder. Does this school have a Serial Killer 101 class or something?

More information has come out in regards to what started all this. It seems as if Treacy was in a relationship with a 13-year-old  friend of Ratley’s. This girl did not have a cell phone so Treacy sent Ratley a text message looking for the younger girl. This led to Ratley and Treacy, who did not know each other well, getting into a text message argument where Ratley not only told him that she did not approve of his relationship with the 13-year-old girl, but also made a comment about the suicide of Treacy’s brother. THIS set him off and had him so upset that he got on his bicycle and rode to the school. The 13-year-old girl then pointed out Ratley to Treacy, and well then the steel-toe tap dancing on Ratley’s head began. Also worth noting, the 13-year-old has been arrested and charged with being a principle in the first degree.

I don't get it man, I just don't fucking get it.

  • cielodrive

    Depressing.

  • Abroad

Whatever happened to “Sticks and Stones may break my bones but word can never hurt me”? Does noone tell children that these days?

  • deadskinmask213

I suppose someone will blame this on Grand Theft Auto or a video game of some sort. Freakin little coward! I cant believe only a teacher stepped in to help the girl. Why didn't a group of people jump him he was killing her for crying out loud? Are we raising our children not to care about eachother or anyone else? Old people thought my generation was bad.

  • Wildheart

I'm starting to seriously think that I don't ever want to visit Florida again…..Disney World or not!

  • Abroad

Older people always think the younger generation is bad. Maybe it is, too. It still has things to learn……

  • Hamward

What is wrong with this kid?
He beat her nearly to death for talking crap about him?!
    Haha. What a gem!

  • Castille

In any event, it should become clear even to this trash, that when you're an asshole sociopath compounded with stupidity and lack of impulse control, people are going to talk shit about you. Loads of it. And almost all of it will approach the truth. I'm sure his tap shoes to lash out with have been taken, so he'll just have to enjoy his negative attention passively.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

Damn, Castille…I miss you when you're gone.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

I've updated the story with more information. A second teen was arrested. Treacy did not get upset about being called a name, he got upset over a comment made by Ratley regarding the suicide of Treacy's brother.

  • Boughtthefarm

Ditto what Abroad said @ sticks & stones. I don't understand what is wrong with people these days. So fucking callous.

  • tenente

If I ever curb stomp someone I'm gonna say I got the idea from dreamindemon.com

  • Abroad

So she may have been stupid and insensitive. That still does not give him justification for what he did.

  • Castille

Great. Psychological imbalance is apparently a breed trait for him. Trying to kill someone when you're angry at a dead guy you loved doesn't make him any better in my eyes.

And I miss when I'm gone too ;D

  • Zibarro aka Kryssa

I'm happy to hear the little bitch who pointed her out was charged as well. In my “day” you didn't return a friends kindness and concern by offering them up to the school sociopath!

Honestly, on the one hand I say “how awful for his parents”… Lost one child to suicide and another to (attempted) murder. Yet, on the other hand I have to wonder about their parenting … due to the fact that (again) one son commits suicide and the other (attempts to) commit murder. Seems at the very least these 2 boys should have been in counseling. I am not one to usually “blame” the parents – but in a situation such as this one – I do have to wonder how such instability went unrecognized and/or untreated……twice?

Some serious mental/emotional issues in this gene pool.

  • appalled72

I agree with you 1000%. My son is 17 and I had to intervene a couple of times in his “personal” life, if you will. I know my son and when something is wrong. He came to my husband and took us up on our offer to go to counseling because he verbally lost it on a girl in school. He said after it happened he felt bad and couldn't explain it. So we put him in counseling and he is now taking Zoloft. As it turns out, he suffers from anxiety. There is a stigma with medicating for mental illness. People say that years ago, society functioned without it. Society also functioned without cars, electricity, heater furnaces and air conditioning, etc. I'd like to see those who have something to say about medicating live life without these luxuries that make our lives convenient. We can function without those things. My son cannot function without his medication. It was my responsibility, as his mom, to make sure he got the help he needed…while, at the same time—HOLDING HIM RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN ACTIONS. In this case, the parents are responsible for doing nothing. There's NO WAY they didn't know something was wrong. And, the boy is responsible for attempted murder.

  • chris n.

One word to explain this: FLORIDA. I don't know what it is in their drinking water, or some effect the extra sun has or what the hell is wrong, but people from Florida are fucking INSANE. It's a simple fact. Where else in the United States are you going to have kids light one kid on fire and another curb stomp a girl at the same middle school? Motion to have Florida quarantined. All in favor say “aye.”

  • HotReadingMama

Dude, hold on a minute. I live very very close to Deerfield, as a matter of fact that is where I used to go to buy my weed (back when I did such things). I am perfectly norm- ok you're right.

  • Ninja0980

If she dies, not only will the kid who did the beating face first degree murder charges, but so will the girl who knew of the plan and pointed her out to him so he could beat the tar out of her. As it should be. Even though she didn't strike any blows, she's just as guilty as he is IMO

  • Siobhan

Society may have functioned years ago without treating the mentally ill without drug therapy, but the mentally ill didn't function much at all, nor did society have to deal with any perceived dysfunctions, as most individual diagnosed with mental illness were shut away into snake pits and thus out of society's sight and consciousness.

Speaking from the POV as someone who's family has severe genetic mental disorders, I commend you on your decision and attention to your child's future well being.
Although peppered with some negative side affects, when facing the decision whether to medical one's child with SSRI's or other drugs for the child mental health, one must weigh
the deciding factors on your physician's advice and knowledge on the subject, the severity
of your child's emotional stability, and your own ability to recognize any personality changes
(for better or worse) after drug therapy treatment begins.
I wish you all well, always.

This is a fine opportunity to tell people that you should try to be more sensitive–you never know when you may set off a sociopath/psychopath. In other words: STOP talking trash, you might have your ass handed to you! As for the girl, I'm sure she learned a lesson, and I sure hope there's a chance she can heal. As for the boy–sorry. You are headed for prison. And you will never be the same.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/PE5XXSRD4Y6CSYQATKDKV3XUHA nomorepolitix

Can't wait to see the text messages in the trial. The cops confirmed that the messages got more heated until they culminated with her comment to him about the suicide of his older brother. Don't mess with psychos!

  • http://www.smartbusinessowners.com/blog Merlyn Sanchez

Oh come on…there are sick, violent criminals everywhere… We have our share but I've seen some doozies from all over the country.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

Sorry, but you are wrong. Statistical, analytical, clinical analysts have shown time and time again that most sociopaths come from Florida. And Canada. It's even in the Bible.

  • nakedeyes

There is a stigma of identification. Prior to the 70's you were concidered mentally ill and institutionalized if you admitted/ or caught being homosexual. Prior to the 1900's doctors identified newborn baby girls as deformed because they had no penis. Many things are changing rapidly, but I caution all to be aware when identification has a more sinister purpose. Ignorance maybe an assult rifle, apathy a grenade, but trust without verification is a nuclear bomb. A doctor gives you a statin for cholesteral, but does anyone mention the mounting studies about “statin stupor”? Will someone you care about need 24 hr care? Check the net on many drugs, the manufacturer, the lot number, along with 'global health care', neuroadvances the dementia epidemic, mental health advances, vaccines: epidemic of unknown causes of death, bio-survellince. 99.9% of people are decent people, but a large % trust information based in manipulation of fact, making the facts hard to find unless you go hunting for them. I don't mean to sound ominous, but truth is always something you discover, rarely are you told.

  • appalled72

I thank you for your commendation, and commend you and your family as well. It's tough to deal with and I hope you all well.

  • appalled72

You make good points. I agree with them all. I began my son's treatment based on several factors. The first being that I, myself, suffer from anxiety and take the same drug. I began my treatment several years before Kody's treatment. The good thing about Zoloft is that if you forget to take it within 24 hours, it leaves your system. (it doesn't take over, it helps) Kody and I both feel the anxiety begin to take over. Once we've taken our pills, we're usually okay withing 24 hours. It works for us. His isn't as severe as mine. I suffer from dizzy spells and feel as though I have absolutely NO control over ANYTHING! Research is out there and everyone should investigate any and all drugs prior to using them, especially on an ongoing basis. Research is important and informative. Living with any condition that makes you miserable is not living, but merely existing. My son is much happier now. He smiles all the time now, whereas before, he almost never did and he and I are much closer. I feel very good about my decision. However, when I say that these parents are responsible and should have done something, I don't necessarily mean that they should have medicated him. I simply meant that they should have done something to monitor his behavior, talk to him, to talk to someone else (perhaps his friends). People, there is no such thing as privacy for our children in this day and age. I fear that my son may be far worse off had I not invaded his privacy. He didn't like me when I did it. But I'm his mom, and I have no interest in being his friend. It's time for parents to pull rank on their kids.

  • appalled72

Responsibility notwithstanding, I'd like to know what they said too. Does anyone know if there have been any updates on her condition?

  • cplkevindheglar

    Aye!

  • Boringusername

They do, then the kids go get sticks and stones

  • Boringusername

Moral of the story, “don't mouth off, being a girl won't always save you”

  • MIke

kill that f***** and forget about, I wished I was inside right now, I'd be waiting for him.

  • Tutkill

this morning on the Today Show the parents of Wayne Treacy were on to get his story out there. Oh I wish they had stayed home. The explantion of he is a good kid, has friends, and has had a hard time -just was lame. It was like he is sorry- Sorry isn't going to fix this. Dad came off angry at the victim when he stated we are going to get to the bottom of what she said. It was like its ok to beat the shit out of her the victim. Mom seemed to be falling apart but this was a epic failure to make him appear a nice kid with too much stress. I don't think beating her near to death got rid of his stress.

  • Boringusername

I want to know what she said, it must be horrible for the police to keep it mum.

  • nicb

Morbid–followed your link but it didn't go to anything statistical? Just really want to see some stats on it. Hell I live in Fl and I need to know if I should get the hell out…lol
I can't understand for the life of me why noone stopped this, you can't tell me there were not boys around who knew better and could not have stopped it. I would tear my son's a** up if this happened at his school and all he did was watch the girl getting beat.
I remember a redneck boy who thought he was gonna jump on me in middle school(in central Fl) and I showed him how us Tx girls are..needless to say he didn't look my way again!

  • Anna_B

    http://www.justnews.com/news/22868624/detail.html

“Last October, the day before Mr. Treacy's 15th birthday, he found his only brother hanging from a tree. That's what we're exploring. We think that that event is what triggered what happened yesterday,” said Betsy Benson, Treacy's attorney.

Dear -gods-, why was this boy not in counseling?? Did his parents think he would get over that? Who do they know who recovers from an incident like that?
And I am honestly creeped out about the girl commenting on the suicide, unless maybe she was biting on some rumor that he did it…
But that makes no excuse for this:

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/deerfi

“The doctors had to be confident that she could eat without medical assistance. She still cannot talk, walk, or use her right arm and fingers,” Freedman said.

Most of her parents' comments call her an artist… And he's taken that away from her.

  • Mike

It's frustrating when sites don't get the full story. Right or not, what happened was the girl (Ratley) was using someone else' cell phone texting the suspect about how she didn't approve about a sexual relationship that was going on between the suspect (Treacy) and Kayla Manson (A friend of Ratleys and in a sexual relationship with Treacy). Ratley then made a comment about Treacys' brother who had committed suicide in October (whom he additionally had found).

Now you tell me, you are 15 years old, you clearly are having problems, and someone starts making fun of your dead brother whom you have not the ability or tools to deal with at this vulnerable age. This goes far deeper than video games or sticks and stones.

It clearly isn't right to beat someone up because you are mad, but you have to understand what level of mentality this boy is at. He may not be able to stop himself, is something going to happen to him, more than likely. Does this take a much deeper look than a shallow skim that you have given it, most definitely.

  • Castille's Lost Intelligence

You my friend are an idiot. It is people like you that make media hounds rich. Congratulations on only understanding have of it, not even half of it. Scroll to the top to understand the full story.

Next time before you go trusting some BS site for a story, read a couple more sources to get the rest of that.

Now you are the one with your foot in your mouth.

  • Tutkill's Lost Intelligence

Are you truly retarded…….you have no empathy for a family cracking at the seams. God forbid you ever have to help someone crying out, you would be far too blind to see it.

  • kathybird

OOOoooooo…..look at that clever screen name. OOoooooooo……

  • Sugarglider1

Um, I think Tutkill just has more empathy for the person who beaten. Naturally. Because that's the person who is the victim.

  • Sugarglider1

“Now you are the one with your foot in your mouth. “

I don't know if you are related to The One Person who tried to kill The Other Person. If so, I'm sorry someone else in your family recently died. That's really, really sad. People in your family should get counseling if it is needed. Meanwhile, nothing changes the fact that one person stomped on another person's head with steel toe boots. What is it you want us to know that you think we don't know? Somebody tried to kill somebody else. There aren't any feet in Castille's mouth. If you want to think about feet and mouths, think about a steel toe boot crashing into flesh and bone. Think about the victim's mouth here, and stop making excuses that can't excuse anything.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

Thanks for re-hashing what was already in this article and what the news has been reporting pretty much since the day this happened. The boy is remorseful and admitted that what she texted wasn't even that bad. This shows that he understands right from wrong. You wanna have a shrink look at him at try and understand why he felt the need to turn a girl's head into mashed potatoes? I'm all for it. It's not like he's going anywhere for a long, long time. I just hope he keeps that temper under control in prison…I don't think he will find the people he's in there with as easy to beat on as a teenage girl.

  • Lizard

I was going to congratulate tutkill on making the big time, but I see that he or she already changed the damn screen name. Make up your mind who you want to hate, dammit!

  • Eracsurfer

Not to mention, he won't have his handy-dandy steel-toed boots either.

  • Count Rackula

What exactly was incorrect about Castille's statement? Just because it may have hurt your widdle feelings doesn't mean it doesn't approach the truth. She read the story, and I'm sure she probably read the source articles as well. Just because you disagree with her statement does not make it false. I'm sorry if you think that this site is BS just because we tend to side with the victims, not the perpetrators. I'm sure that probably makes you very uncomfy.

But hey, there are plenty of other sites out there that have this story, and I'm sure that many, many other people commenting on this story are sharing the same sentiments as Castille. Either way, you could probably stand to go and read one of those sites instead since this one, in your opinion, is so grossly misinformed.

I agree with Sugarglider, no matter what happened between those two kids, nothing can excuse beating the fuck out of someone the way he did. I don't know if you've been reading the source articles lately, but that girl has to learn how to walk again, how to talk again, how to recognize colors again. I would bet that you haven't even bothered to look at the pictures of her, bruised and unconscious in her hospital bed.

Please promptly go fuck yourself, and don't ever think that anyone here will ever side with someone who almost killed a young girl over a text message.

  • Sugarglider1

I was just reading about this case on another site. The asshole said he would kill her LONG before she brought up his brother. Asshole.

    11:31 a.m.

    Ratley: Kayla don’t want 2 talk 2 u. Pt.

    Treacy: F— you. She does.

    11:32

    Ratley: Lol rapest

    Treacy: Stop being stupid.

    11:33

Ratley: Y do u like lil girls?

    11:34

Treacy: Why are you trying to get urself killed?

    11:35

    Ratley: Go suck t—–’s p—-!

Treacy: Your ass is getting f—-d up. Wait for it. I will find you, I will mess you up. You will regret crossing me.

So there goes the snap, crackle, pop excuse…..

  • tenente

first off I'm a little ok a lot drunk so my latent encompassing speech is almost completely gone, but what the fuck are you talking about. No, for real, are you fucking sick twisted or just arguing for the sake of arguing? Yeah, I know i'm a little late on this I never check email. Alright smart ass, you're telling me that when a GIRL gets her head kicked and stomped by a GUY in STEEL TOED BOOTS over WORDS that there's something about the situation that I'm not aware of that might change the light of it in my eyes? Are you for fucking real??? Yeah she said “go visit your dead brother” that's what set him off. Are you fucking for fucking real kid? Like seriously. There is not a single word or sentence on this fucking planet that can justify what he did. I dont care how much remorse he feels. Fuck him. Because you know what no matter what level of remorse he feels doesn't even begin to compare to what that poor girl must have been praying while he stomped her head in.
Dude, searching for some fucking light at the end of this tunnel is fucking retarded. You need to just shut the fuck up.

  • tenente

and I apologize to dreamin demon for being so crude but at some points in time people need to stop and realize that shit has absolutely no place nor reason nor even fucking understanding to be happening. I don't know that girl but all I know is that any guilt-ridden hell he finds in jail doesn't compare to the INABILITY TO SPEAK AND FEED HERSELF. Why don't you put her shoes on for a day.
    i dare you

“I fear that my son may be far worse off had I not invaded his privacy. He didn't like me when I did it. But I'm his mom, and I have no interest in being his friend. It's time for parents to pull rank on their kids.”

    Repeated for truth.

  • MapleApe

He didn't “beat her up” he viciously assaulted her with deadly weapons and has likely done permanent damage while trying to kill her. He had the sense to track her down and put on those steel toes so he clearly knew what he was doing.

Most 15 year olds wouldn't do this and just because this one doesn't supposedly have the “ability to stop himself” it doesn't mean that we have to excuse what he did in any way. In fact, that alleged lack of ability would only makes him a greater threat to others and more of a reason to lock his ass up even longer.

Also, a public display of remorse doesn't mean shit and is easy to fake, especially when faced with the threat of hard time.
