JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Charles Roy Southern, 17, and Connor Julian Pridgen, 16, both students of University Christian School, turned themselves in Friday night. After being interviewed by detectives, each was charged with one count of murder in connection to the death of fellow classmate, 17-year-old Makia Coney. This story started with the report of a body being found in a drainage ditch while a group of officers were looking for a missing student last seen Wednesday on the University Christian School campus. On Thursday, the family identified the body, found 3 miles from the school, as Coney’s. No motive has been given, but the two boys admitted to picking up Coney and driving around for a bit before they both shot her in the head and dumped her body. There was no signs of a sexual assault. Read on for mugshots, and some information on how life is going for Pridgen at the juvenile detention center he is currently housed in.
Chief Tara Wildes of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that an assault occurred on Saturday at Jacksonville’s Department of Juvenile Justice that involved eight youths and Pridgen. No reports on how badly Pridgen was injured, but Pridgen and Southern will be transferred from juvenile detention into adult custody later this week – so if this is any indication on what their lives are looking like for some time in the future, I predict a suicide.
Thanks to Jaded, here is the video of the attack on Pridgen:
