Woman Jailed For False Rape Claim

Holbury, England – In may of last year, Rosanne England, 21, called police and reported that she had been raped by an intruder. She told them that a man came to her residence and asked to use her phone and bathroom because his car had broken down. After letting the man in, he put on a dog mask and attacked her. With a scratched face and torn clothing, she gave them a detailed description of her attacker that led to police finding someone who matched it. Derek Cummings, 59, a married father of two teenage girls, was spotted at a local bar and could not offer a solid alibi as during the time of the attack, he had been walking his dog in the woods alone. He was taken to jail and held there for 28 hours before being released on bail. For the next 24 days, forensic teams did there thing while Cummings was being vilified by the public. It wasn’t until it was found that England’s clothes had been cut before being torn that she finally came clean and admitted to making the entire story up. The court heard that England suffered from mental health problems and was receiving psychiatric help but was sentenced to 18-months in jail. “My family has been through hell,” Cummings said. “I do not want to see a 21-year-old woman jailed but she knew I had been arrested and I was totally innocent. I have mixed feelings about her.”

I'm very supprised she got any time at all. Most judges and prosecutors would rather jail a hundred dudes rather than send the message that women lie about rape. I have mixed feelings, one she did lie and punishment seems necessary but its not like this will stop her or another woman from making up a false claim. If a woman has no problem with the grilling rape victims get in order to make up a story, 18 months in some cushy county (or whatever the english version is) jail is not going to change her mind. But if you just let them recant without any punishment then maybe a few women will grow consciences (it's rare but it has happend) at least that way some injustices may be reversed.

Well, I'd turn her out for our next motorcycle club party. I'm afraid she wouldn't look 21 no more though...but OH the stories she could tell!!!

Well, maybe she is crazy, but she still knew what she was doing when she lied to the cops. She still knew her story was fabricated, and she also knew that poor guy was gona sit in jail for a very long time for a crime he didnt commit. I get tired of people who use a psychiatric diagnosis as an excuse for really fucked up behavior. Wrong is wrong, and she knows it.

Real rape is a truly shitty thing. It''s no wonder women hesitate sometimes to report it. It has a lot to do with people like England that pretty much can destroy the credibility of reported rape for all women.
That being said she is a woman and came up with a sob story to get only 18 months. If Derrick was convicted he could have been looking at 20 years.

Mixed feelings hell, she should do as much time as he WOULD have done had he been wrongly convicted!
