Daytona Beach, FL - Richard Bolinger, 55, had a crush. She caught his eye back in August when she entered the convenience store where he had been hired to perform odd jobs. He wanted to build a relationship with her and began to shower her with sweet little gifts and sugary treats. Months passed. The crush soon turned into an obsession – he started showing up at her home with more gifts and Hannah Montana CD’s. Wait….what? Hannah Montana? Oh yeah, did I forget to mention the object of his affection is three? When crazy man started showing up at the homeless shelter where she and her parents were staying, her parents got a little freaked out. No longer did they visit the convenience store where Richard worked. As a matter of fact, they rearranged their entire daily schedule to avoid running into him. Undaunted, Richard continued with his creepy tactics, even going as far as riding past the shelter on his scooter 3-4 times a day. When the child’s father demanded that he stay away from the girl, Richard rearranged his schedule and rode past only after daddy went to work.

In December, Richard allegedly talked with the child and told her he wasn’t feeling well. He told her that if she would lie down with him, it would make him all better. Well, the smart little kiddo asked her parents if she could help make Richard feel better, and of course, they responded with a hellllls no! On another occasion, he damn near had the kiddo on his scooter and was ready to whisk her away when her mother intervened. He approached the parents at a shelter Christmas party and asked if he could see the child, when they refused, he threatened to take the child away from them and they would never lay eyes on her again. The parents had finally had enough, and after nearly 4 months of creepiness and stalking, the cops were called in. Richard was charged with aggravated stalking and is being held in jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. Surprisingly, Richard has no previous history involving children in Florida – that we know of – yet. The child and her family have since left the state.

Damn, that really sucks. The economy probably threw this family in the homeless shelter; the dad’s trying to get them out by going to work daily, but has to worry about this sick pervert stalking his daughter while he’s away. I’m glad they got out of the state and away from this asshole.

Scary. He probably thought she would be easy pickings with her parents in such a difficult situation. Glad the family has it together and actually talk and look out for each other. I wish them every success in the state they move to.

I am glad that this is a story of parents doing the right thing. I personally hope that this stalker(can't we just call him a child molestor in the making?) gets his just desserts. in the butt.

i would have taken care of him the FIRST time. I can't belive they put up with it so long. I will tell you right now pedos are cowards. Some pedos live their entire life without ever having touched a child. I am going to try and persuade myself that John is just pretending to be a police officer, because the alternative is just too scary.

The reason the family “put up with it for so long” was more than likely that they were afraid to report it. Being homeless and in a shelter, I can imagine them not being to trusting that the authorities would see the case from their side. Is it too far of a stretch of the imagination to think they feared their daughter might be removed from their care, if they asked for help keeping her safe?

And as for beating the perv up, I am glad they didn't try that off their own bat. That would only have landed them in a heap of trouble. On the whole, I am very impressed with both parents and child in this case so far…….

Just a big pet peeve of mine: why do military and police officers always act like the rest of us have to be grateful to them? I never asked anyone to protect me. As far as Ive seen, our country is full of morons. I wouldnt give a drop of blood to save it.

This is why we police officers have such a hard time dealing with the publc. If just joe public said that a pedo needed his ass kicked its ok. A cop says it and oh no thats a big deal.we know we are constaitly watched for any little mistake so we can be pounced on. I.A is allways breathing down our neck for something. we are made out to be boogie-men or nazis or such.People act like we drive around looking for peope to give a hard time too or beat and lock up for fun. Unless you are a cop or a soldier you have no idea what we have to do put up with or live with. We don't want to hurt or kill any innocent person in any way, we are trying to take care of them, it's our JOB. we all took an vow to do so, soldiers do the same. It does not mean someting to some cops but then we handel our own who dont go by the code. I dont care what you think of me and i dont expect a lot becase i am a cop. I was trying to respond to your post earlier, but for some reason it wouldn't attach.

I can assure you that I would not be OK with Joe Public wanting to beat the pedo up either. That would be vigilantism, and I am strenuously against that. I am pro-LE; but I don't think beating pedos up will do much except drive them into the shadows, and quite frankly I do not feel comfortable with law enforcement officers that are 1) …. simple, and 2) suffer from some sort of persecution complex.

If you do not understand why certain perfectly law-abiding groups in society are reluctant to involve the authorities (and I mean authorities in the wider sense, not just LE) in their problems, I am afraid you are probably part of the problem.
