Covington, LA- On December 30′th, several motorists were startled on Interstate 12 near Covington when they seen a man driving his pickup truck with a girl sitting in the passenger seat bound and gagged with duct tape. Many of the motorists called authorities as they boxed in Williams’ moving pickup with their own vehicles until police arrived. But the entire thing was a hoax orchestrated by Williams and his 12-year-old daughter. Tim Williams, 45, was charged with criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and released on bond. His daughter was cited for criminal mischief and released to her uncle.“A lot of people got involved in this incident and put themselves at risk to try to protect this girl, and it’s just very unfortunate that it was just a bad joke,” said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Capt. George Bonnett. “A child abduction situation can be very volatile, extremely dangerous, and like I said, we’re all very glad that it turned out the way it did, but it’s not a good idea.”
