Police Find Boy, 4, Wandering Streets Drunk Wearing A Dress

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Early Tuesday morning, 4-year-old Hayden Wright grabbed a 12-ounce beer from his grandfather’s cooler and walked out of his house while his mother slept. He then knocked on a neighbors door with part of the beer consumed. What was discussed between the boy and the people who opened the door is not known, but what is known is that Hayden then snuck into a neighbor’s house through an unlocked front door, and stole five wrapped Christmas gifts. One of the gifts contained a little girl’s dress which Hayden then put on. And that’s how police found the little boy wandering the neighborhood at 2 a.m. – drunk and wearing a dress. His mother, 21-year-old April Wright, has an explanation for her boy’s actions. Wright says Hayden was only out trying to find his dad who is in jail. “He runs away trying to find his father,” she said. “He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that’s where his daddy is.” How fucked up is that? Check out the video.

Deplorable. I feel so sad for this little child. A child of 4 yrs. shouldn't be wondering the streets at night much less drunk and clothed in a dress. Something more than daddy being in jail is bothering this child. Sounds like the whole family is dysfunctional. Mother thinks this is normal on any level tells a lot about they way he is raised.

So sorry little one. I hope you find happiness soon.

Did she say "Kids do this kinda stuff all the time"???? Not my bloody kids!!!!!! Christ Almighty! If that's what she thinks kids do, then God help that child.
  • This reads like the pilot episode for Jim Henson's 'Jame Gumb Babies'

I can't ever hear the words "kid" and "drunk" in the same sentence without thinking of this:

    Classic.

Prime News reporting that the kid has been removed from the home.

that kid is going to be jonesing for a budlight in day or two.

Seems the best thing at this point. Until the "mother" (not hardly)
Can get a few parenting classes or maybe a lobotomy.....even that for her would be an improvement.
Poor little fellow, I hope he learns how to behave from real parents.

Madeabecbec, I wondered that, too. This woman doesn't seem bright. Why does a little child need to know daddy is in jail? And it has obviously been explained to him that jail is where people are sent when they do bad things. What good can that knowledge possibly do a young child? Dumb lady. She could have just said "daddy is away for work."
  • dreamstorm1220
She's probably one of those 'parents' that tell their kids "The cops are gonna get you". That one never fails to piss me off. God forbid your kid actually NEED the cops one day and now you've scared the shit out of them so they think cops are the bad guys.

doesn’t sound like her “best” is good enough.

crap now i have that song in my head.

(not the orig, but this video makes me giggle a lil)

Imitate and Repeat, that is what children do! A four year old putting on a dress and getting a beer to drink, mmmmm, sound familar April?
Who told him, his father was in jail? And why would you tell a four year old that?
  • sugarglider
I'll bet that beer was already open, just lying around. That would be my guess. Negligent to leave open beers lying around like that. The mom says she does her best as a mother. If so, it doesn't sound like her "best" is good enough.

NO you dumb cunt Kids that age do NOT do things like this Most kids that age are playing with cars and digging holes looking for treasure and playing with play dough. Ans when they are being bad it is NOT stealing and drinking beer
I do not know of many 4 years olds that would want to break a law and go to jail and I know many a 4 year old whose Dad is in jail sad as that is to say.

This dumb cow needs her tubes tied and Someone anyone please give this kid a Loving home.

Oh nd on the neighbor who left that kid roam away with that beer I say Lock that stupid ass up too WTF was they thinking??
I mean how freekin common place if it to have a 4 year old come visit in the middle of the freekin night drinking a cold beer??

What in hell kind of neighborhood is this?
  • mazzi
OK- I call bullshit. I am not quoting directly because honestly, I can't listen to that whining fool of a mother again, but at the end, she says something like "kids do stuff like this... you can only do what you can do..."

No, (normal) kids do NOT do things like this. A four-year-old who knows the concepts of jail, alcoholism, stealing and inappropriateness of cross-dressing has some serious, severe problems. A four-year-old who understands the concept of doing "bad" things and running away to find his father in JAIL, must have such a miserable life at home that anything seems better than that.

Mama's eyes look like she is on drugs and her incessant whining, blame-shifting and laissez faire attitude make me want to slap through her cotton-stuffed brain and teach her how to be a RESPONSIBLE parent. And, according to her, there are "children" in that home - not just one. How many more babies are being put at risk because the mom is an irresponsible whiner?

Sorry to rant, but this bugs me as much as full-blown abuse cases. Maybe more - because there is still a chance that THESE kids could be saved if the mother would get off her own lazy ass and take control of her life. Grrrrrrr.
  • I remember stealing a beer from my dad when I was in about 5th grade. Me and my friend didn't like the taste and didn't drink it. I think most kids that age would feel the same way.

I read that this kid had to have his stomach pumped-Does it look cute now?
  • really, why did the people at the first house let the kid wander off? why didnt they take him home or call LE to report this?

thank god nothing bad (other than consuming a beer) happened to this kid. so many horrible things could have happened. his gaurdian angel must have been working double time that night
  • maureen
This would be funny if it wasn't a little kid. I don't understand why the neighbors at the first house didn't help. If a drunk 4 year old was at my door I'd be calling the authorities.
  • OMalley
Wow - a juvenile delinquent at 4 yrs. old. I'm sorry but I have to laugh when I imagine this boy marauding the neighborhood in a girl's dress swigging a beer. Glad nothing bad happened to him while he was at large.
  • backlash
Funny, this is EXACTLY what I did last night...
  • angela
Why did the 1st house let the boy walk off? That's weird...

I wonder if these people have that little boy in counsling...obviously something is wrong with him and he needs help.
  • And that’s how police found the little boy wandering the neighborhood at 2 a.m. – drunk and wearing a dress.

WOW. Daddy must be sooo proud.
  • Mom lives with grandma and daddy's in jail? Something tells me this kid isn't getting much structure.
