Suitland, MD – Veronica Deramous is said to have befriended a homeless and pregnant 29-year-old Teka Adams at a shelter  – Teka, who was in her third trimester, was lured to Veronica’s home on December 1st, with the promise of baby clothes and other items. Once in Veronica’s apartment, authorities say that Teka was held hostage. With the help of her developmentally disabled 17-year-old son, Veronica bound Teka with duct tape, tied her to a chair, and held her in a bedroom. Five days later, Veronica’s intent was suddenly crystal clear – she wanted a baby. Teka’s baby, to be exact. On Saturday, she allegedly told the woman, “You’re strong, you can handle what I’m going to do to you.” She gagged Teka, turned up the volume on the television, and proceeded to slice her abdomen open in an attempt to remove the fetus. The vicious assault halted when Teka began to moan in pain. About 24 hours later, Teka escaped the apartment while Veronica was sleeping.

When Teka ran from the apartment, the teen alerted his mother. After a confrontation between the two women in the stairwell of the apartment, a neighbor called the police and Veronica and her son beat feet outta there. According to the police report, when police found Teka her “abdomen was cut and her intestines, stomach and placenta were exposed.” In the apartment were bloody towels and a bowl with water and washcloths on a bedroom floor. A box cutter and some razor blades were also found in the home. The baby, named Miracle Sky, was later delivered by c-section. At the hospital. With, thank gawd, pain-killers and a skilled cutter. It is reported that both mom and baby are doing fine.

Thanks to a tipster, Veronica was tracked down and arrested in Virginia – she is now awaiting extradition back to Maryland. The 40-year-old woman is charged with attempted first-degree murder, false imprisonment, and other related charges. Her son has not been charged.
