Teen Arrested For Helping Father Commit Suicide

Pueblo, Colorado – While writing up the Tazer story below this one, I noticed this story also out of Pueblo. 75-year-old Edward Quaduor was going through a divorce, in bad health and living in a camping trailer on his friend’s property. He had been suicidal for a while and asked his son, 18-year-old Randy Edward Quaduor, for a gun. The teen did not want to see his father suffer any longer and handed him a loaded .22 caliber pistol. His father put the gun under his pillow, and the two said their goodbyes. On Tuesday Edward was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His son was later arrested and charged with manslaughter because he helped his dad. He told detectives that if he hadn’t given his father the gun, he would have just got one from someone else. “Taking those matters into your own hands, not being a medical provider or not having prescription authority, I would say no you should not do that,” said Captain Jeff Teschner. I am one of those who feel if you want to take your own life, go for it. I also do not feel that assisting suicide should be considered a crime.

  • I think people should try to get help for someone who is suicidal. And I think that giving a gun to someone to do it with is just about murder. If he really wanted to die, he'd have found a way with out the gun.

Actually alot insurance policies have a suicide clause in them that states if the suicide occurs in the first 2 years, there is no payout. After that, it is considered the same as other deaths, and payout can occur. I guess this is there to prevent people from getting the life insurance and then offing themselves to the benefit of the family.

But yeah, let the kid go.
  • Dr.Keegee
    Oh please!
Let the kid off the hook - he's already got plenty on his plate. Like Boughthefarm said - it's a horse of a different color. At least this dad didn't insist on taking his family with him - kudos for that.

Definitley should not prosecute the boy..he was providing help in the only way he thought possible. No one on this earth should be able prevent me from ending my life, thats my decision. People get so hysterical when it comes to death..as if its a bad thing. In reality we sign on for it as soon as we are born. Death is just transformation...jeeze.
  • Jezebel
Oh My God, this is ridiculous.
He helped a suffering person end their suffering.
This boy is strong to have done this.
  • Boughtthefarm
This is such a waste of taxpayers $$. It isn't like old man was paralyzed and the kid rigged a way for him to kill himself. Hopefully a jury will aquit the poor kid.

Unless you live in Japan where they do pay out for certain types of suicide >.>
  • No, insurance companies do not pay out for suicides.

I agree with you, Morbid. If a person wants to take their own life, that should be their choice. If you indirectly facilitate that, I don't agree that you should be held responsible for the death. Especially in a case like this. The man was old, ailing, and his world was falling down around him. Let the man go.

I think most insurance policies don't pay out for suicide...

Hope this teen was smart enough to get life insurance.
