His best friend was set on fire and his brother is in jail. Can’t anyone remember that age, what it was like when some innocence remained, and every experience was emotionally amplified by its newness? This kid couldn’t begin to articulate the horror and anguish he’s processing.

That said, of course this is an entirely coached presentation; a PR photo-op arranged for the media by the attorney, and the statement sounds like something patched together by a committee around the kitchen table the prior night. The rest of the video was the usual back and forth of the media asking questions they know shouldn’t be answered, with the attorney deflecting them.

All that’s really important to me is this; who had the alcohol, and who knew about the alcohol.

I agree, this is pure BS and samage control. No wonder our sociery has gone to hell. Parents and other adults [attorneys] encouraging kids to lie to save their asses. Gone are the days of teaching our kids responsibilty and honesty.

Definitely a crock when he ends with “I just hope and pray we all get through this.” Quit worrying about yourself and your brother, dude. Only 1 person needs to be worried about.

Besides, he’s all “sorry this happened.” He’s not saying who was responsible–it just “happened.”

Definitely didn’t just sit down and write that thing. I call shenanigans.

This happened literally down the street from me. Local news was airing it daily. I saw this mother talking to news cameras in tears in the days immediately following the burning and referred to Michael’s mother by name and apologized. These children, at least the Jarvis children, were close friends with this boy.

Sitting in his lawyer’s office before going in front of the cameras, Jarvis described his relationship with Brewer, 15, as a friendship that deepened considerably over the past year, as both were students at Deerfield Beach Middle School. “He was one of my best friends,” Jarvis said.

And there was no falling out between them, he said. The friendship continued right up until the moment Jarvis and four others encountered Brewer at an apartment complex where Brewer was going to visit a friend.

I would expect a little more emotion, maybe it is just me.

Oh, another question, Did Jeremy Jarvis stick around and aid Michael Brewer? Is Jeremy the one that gave up the perps names? Or was that Michael, himself?
The lawyer says that the Investigators took a statement from Michael, I am glad to hear Michael is able to communicate! God, I hope he recovers fully!

I call bullshit.Sounds like the lawyer coached this kid.Besides,no way did he just”tag along”with some older kids that were headed to do some damage.He fucking knew what was up and his family and lawyer are running damage control.
