LOGAN, Ohio — More animal cruelty at D’D and a teen I wouldn’t mind seeing catch a bit of PETA Hell if what he is accused of doing is true. Prosecutors say 18-year-old Bryan Able killed and mutilated a stranger’s house cat, then used the animal’s organs as fishing bait. Saundra Harvey, an agent with the Humane Society, went into a bit more detail saying he “went to a home, went up on the porch, picked up a cat, took it to his pickup truck, threw it on the ground. The cat was meowing; he stomped its head, proceeded to disembowel it, took its liver and went fishing with it.” But he wasn’t done there. He later took the cat’s carcass and placed it on the hood of a student’s car parked at Hocking College. A college where Able is a law enforcement student. Prosecutors are frustrated because the toughest charge they can file is a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge.

If convicted, Able faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison. But that doesn’t sit well with Hocking County Prosecutor Laina Fetherolf. “Someone who could do something like this has the potential to be a very dangerous person,” Fetherolf said. “The laws need to be changed accordingly.” Look, I know cats are from hell. I own one myself – we hate each other. It stares at me and I know that it is just waiting for me to die so that it can feast on my testicles. But damn, sent from the bowels of hell or not, this cat was someone’s pet. The lack of empathy with some of these animal abusers astounds me at times…as does the abundance of stupidity.

I’m pretty sure I found his Myspace, not that it took a lot of effort, but not gonna post it without proof of it being him. Although, his friends posting pictures of cats in his comments section kinda lean towards it being the same guy.

Update:

The cat’s name was Lucky. Here is a post the owner made over at Cafemom.com titled Someone killed my cat. A little more detail is in her post, especially the part about Bryan being in the company of two girls when he did this. You do not have to be a member to read it. It includes a picture of the cat in question.

I’d like to give his fuckin’ head a stomp, but I can’t imagine the sewage that would come out… Bastard.

  • sarabei

I second that notion!! And did I read right that he is in “law enforcement” school? He should be kicked out. Period.

I really think that some sort of revision needs to be done with animal cruelty laws and justice. This shit is not sane, and just because it’s “only” a cat doesn’t make it any more sane than doing the same deed to a stranger. There is no call for torture of animals, and house pets are completely reliant on humans.

I wish there was an organization with PETA’s power and money, but a lot less insanity. I am so far in disagreement with PETA philosophy so much of the time that I can’t support them, but I do hope they persecute this guy with their relentless brand of crazy fanaticism. Some people deserve the worst punishments, and short of physical torture, I couldn’t imagine a worse existence than being on PETA’s shit list.

I don’t think that people are less special than animals, or that people who are hurt deserve less compassion than animals. I’m a vigorous and outspoken proponent of victims’ rights, and in cases like this, animals are victims too.

I’m also not a vegan, cat hoarder, or anything like that–I love a steak so rare it may squirt me in the eye with blood when I cut into it. However, I think everyone can agree that hunting, farming, and dealing with pests and self-protection again animals is a hell of a lot different than torturing a tame cat/dog/ferret/whatever.

This type of crime can NEVER be truly prosecuted in any sort of just manner. Misdimeaners mean nothing and this guy probably won’t even be stopped from becoming a cop one day. If you’re this sick, you don’t respect life at all, and who is to say what types of humans he considers worthy of his protection as a cop, or worthy of restraint when he finds more urges to torture/kill?

I got an email from someone claiming to know a bit about the owner of the cat. I’m hoping to get some more information.

  • Boughtthefarm

I love my steak rare too! They’d better expel his from “Law Enforcement” ASAP. I hope someone stomps the crap out of this asshole!

  • puffers8808

6mths are you serious? You can receive a longer sentence for slapping your spouse(and truth be told..ppl usually deserve what happens to them..we do it to each other) animals however, and truly INNOCENT!! Is this guy really a law enforcement student? Please tell me that he’s going to be booted from this program!

Update the story with a link to a blog post made by the owner of the cat (Lucky).

  • Mina

This is a sick story. I originally read Colleen’s post on CafeMom and commented there but when I found out about this post, I felt the need to check it out. I cannot believe someone would do this to an innocent animal, especially one as young as Lucky was. Thank you, Morbid, for posting this. I’m going to send the link for this to Colleen so she knows that there are others out there who support her, even off CafeMom.

And, honestly, I wish they would create stricter laws against Animal Cruelty. Taking the life of someone’s pet is just the same as taking the life of one of their children.

  • sarabei

I would like the girls cited with something too. They were WITH this sick bastard when he did this and they did NOTHING? Sick twisted twats…I am so upset I am can barely type…I am stepping away from the keyboard now….rip Lucky. I hope the murderer who killed you gets what he deserves; and the bitches that were with him too.

Thanks Mina, I hope Colleen does come here and we can support her as well as Cafemom. I feel just as you do. Mine ARE my babies; and honestly, if some SOB did that to one of mine, they had better pray they are put in jail and stay there. That. is. fact. Compared to what I would do to them….jail would be a cake walk. I am still ranting…stopping now…

  • VelvetGlove

I am the one who originally submitted the story here based on Colleen’s cafemom post, so she knows it’s here and is very grateful for the support. I hate, hate, hate people who do shit like this and as a major lover of cats, I would happily put a hot fork in the jerk’s eye.
Thanks, Morbid, for featuring this story.

  • OMalley

There is something terribly wrong with the piece of shit who hurt this cat. He deserves more than a 6 months sentence and I think the girls who were with him should be charged too. How about a round of court ordered Psych evals?

Poor Lucky. I love cats and he looked just like my old orange kitty.

  • mum of 2

Sick POS! The girls should be charged too.
    RIP Lucky.

And, honestly, I wish they would create stricter laws against Animal Cruelty. Taking the life of someone’s pet is just the same as taking the life of one of their children.

I love my pets – I’ve had many cats and dogs throughout the years, even some ducks and rabbits. I also have a child. As much as I’ve mourned and missed a pet that’s passed away – A PET IS NOT A CHILD.

If I had to choose it would be my son over the pets!

I love animals and I’ve had dogs, cats & even a couple of ducks and rabbits. I’ve missed and mourned them when they’ve died. I’ve just taken in two abandoned kittens and have 2 dogs that I’ve rescued.

    But… PETS AREN’T CHILDREN!

I have a son and there is no way to compare the love I have for him to the way I care for my pets.

  • tutkill

That is so cruel. He is a sick person. I hope they kick his ass out of the law enforcement program.

  • StrangerDanger

So, did he catch anything with the kitty liver? Is this some sort of mythical ancient redneck secret for catching the legendary catfish General Sherman?

This type of behavior is more prevalent than most people realize. Consider how often the abuse of animals ever gets reported. When I was a kid, the neighborhood whore had a crack addicted boyfriend who ended up taking her kitten and threw it into the sky like a baseball. When it hit the ground, it died from it’s injuries. Back then, nothing like this was ever reported. An excellent resource to track these type of events is:

Did he not take something from someones home? Robbery. With intent to committee physical injury and assault? The emotional pain was an assault on the girl.Did she know him? They could get more here if they wanted to. I’m from middle Georgia and they trump up alot of charges here to keep the conviction rate up.Hell the guy who killed Ottis Reddings family members pitt bull while it was in his yard killing his pet chickens (and had killed about 30 on previous separate occasions) got 3 years. Also placing a dead animal on a schoolmates car does speak of how depraved this one really is.

  • sarabei

MINE. ARE. MY CHILDREN. PERIOD. I realize some people don’t feel as some of us do on here; that doesn’t make how we feel any less VALID or REAL. I don’t question the love you have for your son. Don’t you DARE question the love I feel for MY babies.

  • sarabei

And you know, the more I think about comments like Annabelle Lee makes the more angry it makes me. There are people who care about animals; but don’t connect with them in the way I, or some others who are on here do. Just because someone has two legged children is NO reason to disrespect those of us who love our four legged children every bit as much as you do yours. I would go without before my babies do, I would do ANYTHING, literally, to see they are protected and cared for. I would NEVER let some sick dickhead who might hurt them around them. I would die trying to save them; so tell me, how is MY love different from yours? My SON died a year and a half ago. My husband and I BOTH still cry for his loss and miss him. NO ONE can sit on their pedestal and belittle the love I have for my furbabies just because you may not feel the same. Give ME and people like me the same respect you want when you are talking about YOUR children.

This is why absolutely Mina hit the nail on the head, laws must be put in place to give animals more protection than they have now. PLUS think about this guy being in law enforcement? Hell, I wouldn’t want him ringing up my gas purchase let alone out “protecting and serving” the community.

I TOTALLY agree. You have articulated my position exactly.

Like Sarabei, I get especially worked up over cat cruelty stories. While all types of animals are abused, I can’t help but think that cats suffer the most. They seem to be the go-to animals when some inhuman piece of shit just feels like torturing something. And though this is much farther down on my list of concerns, I have to wonder, what makes these people think they can steal other people’s property? I don’t think of cats as property myself, but technically they are owned, and people who take them ARE stealing. It just pisses me off on so many levels.

As for Annabelle Lee, no one is suggesting that cats are more important than children, so I fail to see what that has to do with this story. Is that your reaction every time an animal is abused or tortured? Why does this always have to be a fucking contest, humans vs. animals? It annoys the crap out of me.

  • sarabei

AMEN!!! I TOTALLY agree, that is how I feel…WHY does it have to become a contest of animal versus human…how about psychos hurting a living feeling creature…that is what it should be about!!

  • ColleenF30

Thanks for the support guys. Yes this is Colleen. I interviewed with 10TV earlier (where the story is linked from), and it will be carried at 11:00 PM Eastern tonight. It should post to their website sometime in the morning. I know a State Rep has been following the story, and is trying to do something about getting the punishments for these kind of crimes to be more strict. Once again I want to thank you guys, and hopefully some good can come of this.

  • http://www.dreamindemon.com Morbid

Colleen, not sure if you can answer this or not, but aside from the cat pictures his friends are posting on his Myspace – has he acknowledged what he has done? If so, has expressed any remorse or at the very least apologized for what he did?

  • ColleenF30

According to the only news I have gotten on it (local papers) he has plead not guilty. I have heard about the pictures on his myspace, and have pretty much been staying away from it. My guess is no remorse, and my hope is to get this to be a more serious crime. I interviewed for the news last night…so the story has now been updated again.

So sorry Colleen! You defiently have all our support here. Please do keep up updated. Most of us have children (human or furr) and we fight for justice for all of them here!
