Anthony Sowell Has Been Very Busy

Cleveland, Ohio – On Thursday, police went to the home of convicted rapist Anthony Sowell, 50, to execute an arrest and search warrant stemming from a rape and felonious assault against a woman in early OctoberOctober reviewsOctober reviews. Police did not find Sowell at home when they got there, but they did find something else interesting; the bodies of two women decomposing on the third floor of the home. On Friday, police returned and recovered four more bodies. One was found in a grave under the basement stairs, two in the crawlspace and another in a grave outside of the home. Anthony Sowell was arrested walking down the street near the home on SundaySunday reviewsSunday reviews after police received a tip that he was in the area. Sowell was convicted for a 1989 rape for which he was imprisoned from 1990 to 2005. Eighteen-year-old Melissa Taub saw Sowell on the street every day. “He was nice, but he gave me the creeps,” Taub said. She said Sowell once tried to lure her into his house, but she didn’t go. “He scared me, and I didn’t trust him. Some angel must have been watching over me because If I’d have gone into that house, one of those bodies could have been me, one of those graves could have been mine.”

The coroner who performed the autopsies on the bodies told CNN that they all appeared to have been strangled. He also added that their decomposing bodies could have been lying there for “weeks, if not months or years.” 19 Action News has learned there are two women currently missing who lived within several blocks of Anthony Sowell. Janice Webb, 49-years-old, went missing on June 3rd 2009 and Nancy Cobb went missing on April 24th 2009. If you think you may have information regarding a missing operson and the Sowell investigation, you can go to the 4th District Police Headquarters located at 9333 Kinsman Ave everyday from 7am to 7pm to talk to detectives. You are encouraged to bring a photo and biographical information of the missing person.

One woman claims she is a victim of Sowell, and lucky to be alive.  She claims Sowell asked her to “drink beer” with him and when she refused he “punched her in the face and dragged her to his house.” She fought back and was able to escape the home, however police were slow to investigate her claims because Sowell reported that she had in fact assaulted him.  Ten months later, September 22, another woman was raped and strangled inside the house on Imperial Avenue. She told police she passed out and woke up in her own urine and feces but surprisingly, Sowell let her leave. Here is some video of the first victim talking about what happened to her.

    One woman claims she is a victim of Sowell, and lucky to be alive.claims Sowell asked her to “drink beer” with him and when she refused he “punched her in the face and dragged her to his house.” She fought back and was able to escape the home, hoever police were slow to investigate her claims because Sowell reported that she had in fact assaulted him.

    That’s an interesting pick-up tactic: invite her in for a drink, punch her in the face if she declines and drag her into your house. Yeah, women like guys who show interest and persistence, but this is way crossing the line.

    Also, what is up with those cops? This has to be the only guy in the country who has gotten the cops to buy the “nu-uh, she hit me!” defense.

    When I first read this story it reminded me of Harrison Graham. I wouldn’t be surprised if they find more victims as the investigation continues.

    Thankfully she listened to that little voice inside her head. I think we all need to do that more as it’s usually right :)

    Another body has been found at the home of Anthony Sowell who was apprehended earlier this week in connection with multiple murders at his Cleveland residence.

    Six dead bodies had been found at his house, and the latest looks to be his seventh known victim. The Cleveland Police Department has called a news conference for this evening as workers tear through his Imperial Avenue home looking for more possible victims in these gruesome crimes.

    Update at 5:05 p.m.: Police have confirmed another body has been found making the total 8. Sowell has been charged with 5 murders today.

    Sowell’s neighbors have said they complained for years about a foul smell coming from an area near his house…..

    Now a Cleveland city councilman wants to launch an investigation into whether police and health inspectors failed to pick up on any signs that could have led them to the six bodies around Sowell’s house any sooner.

    Councilman Zack Reed said he had previously alerted health inspectors about the odor. Reed said he couldn’t understand how police officers could have missed the stench when they were called to the home over the years.

    When I watched the video of the authorities searching Sowells home, I thought Wow, how close the neighbors were and nobody smelled decaying flesh? But,it seems they did and called about it, no one investigated!! WTH?

    was a registered sex offender and, after his release from prison, was required to check in regularly at the sheriff’s office, which said he complied. Officers also visited his home, most recently on Sept. 22, just hours before the woman reported being raped there.

    I heard on the news that there was a foul smell at the house, but it was always blamed on a nearby sausage factory.

    Four bodies were found in the back yard, while six others were discovered elsewhere on the property, including in the basement of the house. A skull wrapped in a paper bag in a bucket could be an eleventh victim.

    Wonder if they will find the rest of that one??
