Margery Tannenbaum Accused Of Craigslist Revenge On 9-Year-Old

CENTRAL ISLIP, New York – We didn’t report on this story when it happened in May, although it was being covered in our forums. But her hearing was Tuesday so it is making the news again. To refresh your memory, social worker Margery Tannenbaum, 40, got in legal trouble after she got revenge on a 9-year-old girl who got into an argument with her 4th-grade daughter. She posted a sexually suggestive ad on CraigslistCraigslist, including the girl’s real name and phone number, urging older men to call the little girl. Which of course, they did. According to court documents, the mother of the 9-year-old girl received a call from a man who, upon her answering, asked, “Hey baby, is this [girl's first name]?” When the woman told the man she was her mother, the caller responded: “Oh, hot lady lives with foxy momma!” Said the girl’s mother: “I told him the hot lady you are referring to is 9-years-old.” The caller then hung up, she said. Tannenbaum is now facing charges of aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child over the stupid stunt, plus the the Suffolk County district attorney is asking the state to review Tannenbaum’s social work license. Tannenbaum says she is not responsible. Her lawyer Tad Scharfenberg told reporters, “She’sShe reviews a good mother, she’s never been in any trouble before, she takes good care of her kids. I’m defending her to the fullest, she maintains her innocence.” What in the hell is up with you women? What is this, like the 23rd story we have featured here where some mother got revenge on one of their daughter’s rivals?

I can't stand parents like this. Don't get me wrong - I understand where they're coming from. I was 20 when I took custody of my little sister and, during that time, I wanted to wring the piss out of every little shit that gave her a problem. But you have to let kids navagate these situations on their own, or they won't know how to deal with them as an adult... and you can't be fighting your kid's fights forever.

I don’t understand why parents feel a need to stick their nose in a tiff between their child and another child. If an adult were harassing the child, then yes, the parent should step in. But it’s two kids, how else are they expected to learn to fight their own battles? I’m sure this ended up hurting Mrs. Tannenbaum’s daughter more that the other girl in the long run. And I do think the state needs to review her social work license; she obviously lacks the ability to use common sense.

Tannenbaum was the classroom mother last year for the fourth grade, which included her daughter and the alleged victim. This year she was replaced.
