Football Coach Kicks Angry Parent’s Ass
October 20, 2009 by Morbid
Wilmington, Boston – Michael VonKahle, 48, brought his 12-year son to his Pop Warner football practice 12-minutes late. As punishment the coach, 43-year-old William Reynolds ordered the boy to run laps. Vonkahle wasn’t too happy with his kid being punished for his mistake, and let the coach know it. He told the coach, “If anybody needs to run laps, it should be you, you fat [expletive].’’ Not sure what the expletive was. Ass? Fuck? Whatever it was, VonKahle sat in the bleachers with other parents and continued to shout at Reynolds. The coach finally walked over to the bleachers. The story is a bit different from this point on, depending on the man telling it. VonKahle states Reynolds asked him to come take a walk, while Reynolds states he simply asked Vonkahle to discuss his problems in a more secluded area so that the kids would not have to see them arguing. But both agree that this meeting ended with VonKahle getting his ass kicked.
After the two men arrived at an area away from the field, VonKahle states that Reynolds took of his jacket, and then knocked his ass out. “I didn’t think I was going to take a beating for saying something. That was my mistake. Yeah, I made a mistake in calling him a fat . . . but, you know, I went over to the other parents, I sat there, and then he came over and said ‘Let’s go for a walk.’ As we got out there, and he threw down his jacket; it was a whole different thing. And then two seconds later, I was lights out, and it was over. I actually said, ‘What the bleep,’ and I was looking at his jacket, and as soon as I put my eyes on it, gone. I was out.’’ And by the picture shown to the right, he isn’t lying. Reynolds really did knock the shit out of him. VonKahle suffered a fractured eye socket, broken nose, and torn rotator cuff on his shoulder.
Reynold’s account differs in that he accuses VonKahle of throwing the first punch. He says that VonKahle threw a jacket over his head and began punching him first. Reynolds said he took the jacket off his head and returned punches. After a flurry of blows, he asked VonKahle, “We had enough?’’ to which VonKahle responded “Yeah.’’ Reynolds said he got up and walked back to the practice field. In a statement to police, he said “I consider my actions to be a result of his aggressive actions toward me.’’
Reynold’s has now been charged with aggravated assault and battery. He was forced to take a leave of absence pending the police investigation’s outcome and the league’s board of directors will take further action now that the criminal charge has been filed. “The man is obviously not going to be coaching in our program,” she said last night. “This is not what our program is about. We’re trying to keep the kids on the right path. I don’t know if anybody really understands what happened here.”
I’m torn on this one as I hate the character traits of both these men. I dislike the loud-mouthed bleacher fathers just as much as I do the hot-headed coaches. A great ending to this story is that they both went at each other like Peter Griffin and the Chicken, both getting their asses equally handed to them. But even though that is not the case here, and the father ended up with the more severe injuries…I am surprised he filed charges. He ran his mouth and taunted the coach. Sure, it is well within the leagues rights to fire the coach as he did not demonstrate the control and personal attributes they want from their coaches – especially coaches to 11 and 12-year-old kids. But legally? Bwuahahahaha! If I were the judge, I’d throw this shit out while laughing. Don’t want a broken nose and eye socket? Don’t taunt the wrong guy.

I don’t think the coach was acting “hot-headed”. He calmly asked the father to take a walk with him, then punched his lights out. Sounds pretty well-thought out to me- especially the part where there are no witnesses.
Maybe this was a good lesson for the kids to learn. If you run your mouth, some fat (expletive) might hand you your own ass.

I thought Tom Cable coached the Raiders…

To be honest, I think more obnoxious loudmouths need a good ass-whoopin’. Call it a public service.

All my children have or play sports, I’ve coached for about 15 years deferent sports deferent levels, and you wouldn’t believe the crap a few parents put you through, 98% of all parents I’ve dealt with were good
80 were really nice and about 18 percent are extra special and helpful.
But those 2 or 3% of assholes are amazingly incredibly rude and obnoxious, and you’d love to see someone pound the shit out of them. They know you can’t beat the crap out of them and they push you as far as they can, you could remove their kid and get rid of them but you don’t because you feel sorry for the kid for having such an ass for a parent. Sometimes I feel if I cut the kid the asshole parent doesn’t have me to get off on, he’ll lay into the kid. What has happened in the past is other parents at times will take the person aside and set him straight, after that the person usually is off to the side somewhere by themselves mumbling. One of the worse I ever had was a mom that kept belittling her son, telling him he played like a girl and she’d make him wear a bra to the next game and so on it was incredibly embarrassing for everyone, sure we tried to talk to her, good luck.
Hell I’ve had fathers get in my face and threaten me because I wasn’t starting their kid.

I’m with Morbid, to me, both of these guys sound like assholes. I would like to know if the dad is always this combative, or if he was just pissed that the coach was making his kid run laps for something that wasn’t his fault. Probably the former. Still, the coach sounds like a dick as well, and I suspect he didn’t like the crack about his weight. To “Don’t want a broken nose and eye socket? Don’t taunt the wrong guy,” I would add, “Don’t want to be called a fat fuck? Lose some damn weight.”
I never could stand watching fat, out of shape people making other people exercise like a slave driver.
Crap like this always makes me think of:

I believe the coach. Who gets a torn rotator cuff from one sucker punch to the eye? I think the parent hit him too, if not first. And frankly, loud mouth, obnoxious parents deserve it.

This guy shows all the sigms of an asshole
1st he’s late, instead of taking responsibility
he wants the coach to change the rules for him
if he doesn’t want his son to run be on time
there is a reason for rules be responsible
rules don’t change for assholes
I can’t believe this asshole giving the coach crap
when he was the problem being late
tells you how this asshole parent rolls
I don’t believe 1 word this idiot parent said

While its true that both men were foolish for getting into a fist fight at a little league game…I’m still gona take the coaches side. Okay, he probally shouldnt be coaching anymore, but neither should he be brought up on charges. Sounds like a case of one loud mouthed asshole gettin’ what he had comin’ to him. Id bet money that he had it comin’ for a long time too.

I’m with you and I should state that it’s pretty common practice to have to run laps if your late….been there, done that!

I think the dad deserved what he got. Seriously, what kind of long-lasting, deep, abiding harm is going to come of his poor fragile offspring for being made to run laps??? Seriously, I can’t believe some parents these days, they just blow my mind.
I’m thinking that the only thing that running laps for being late is going to teach the kid is that there are consequences for your actions. Granted, it probably wasn’t his fault he was late (though it could have been) but I think that this kid would learn something valuable from it, and get some exercise to boot. Nothing wrong with that.
Stupid dickhead of a moronic father. JMHO, of course.

I don’t understand why so many people are having problems believing that the coach is as much of a dick as the dad. In my opinion, the title of this story should be “When Assholes Collide.”
