Sharon Hinojosa Let Her Children Burn Alive

Huron Township – This is one of the most horrifyingly callous stories I have written about in a while. I have read through about 15 different articles and got sicker the entire time. Sharon Hinojosa, 29, lived in a mobile home with her boyfriend Justin Whisler. Early Friday morning, the mobile home caught fire. Hinojosa was able to escape the blaze with the 1-year-old she shared with Whisler. Sadly,her two other children she had with another man, 4-year-old Anthony, and 3-year-old Alayna, perished in the flames — despite attempts by neighbors to rescue them. Now police have charged Hinojosa with setting the fire and purposely leaving her two children to burn alive. It is a heinous accusation and now that some details have come to light, coupled with the fact that she is now in the hospital after drinking rubbing alcohol, seem to have a lot of merit

Neighbor Joe Dickes said he saw the front porch ablaze about 3:15 a.m. FridayFriday reviews
and ran to talk to Hinojosa, who stood outside by a car where her 1-year-old was inside. Dickes said Hinojosa did not call for help until the fire was well under way. “It seemed to me that fire was pretty well going before she started screaming,” he said. He added that she didn’t mention her two other kids were still in the trailer until he asked where they were. Him and a neighbor began trying to get to the kids by busting out windows, as Hinojosa never told them specifically where the two kids were inside the trailer. “I said, ‘Come on kids, it’s Uncle Jo-Jo; jump into my arms.’ Then the flames blew out and singed my hair,” he said. “I heard the babies screaming for a minute, minute and a half, then they just stopped.” Let that last line sink in a second.
During this time, Hinojosa did place a call to 911. You can listen to it here. In it you can here a very frantic Hinojosa completely unable to clearly articulate where she lived in the Huron Estates Mobile Home Park. Police allege she was not unable, simply unwilling. Neighbors also state that while the rescue attempt was underway, she ran up and down the street screaming while telling everyone that the reason why she left her two children in the trailer was because “she could not wake them up.”
Looks like the motive may have been the “keep the penis” scenario we hear of a lot. Neighbors and relatives told the Free Press that Hinojosa and Whisler were in the process of breaking up. The couple had dated about three years and Hinojosa was supposed to move out of the mobile home. Neighbors said Hinojosa and Whisler had lived in the area for about six months and were often heard arguing. In July, police responded to a domestic violence call after Hinojosa claimed she was pushed to the ground by Whisler. Hinojosa refused to press charges.
Hinojosa has been charged with arson, second-degree murder and felony murder, which is murder committed during another crime. The maximum penalty is life in prison. Hinojosa’s arraignment was not immediately set because currently she is suffering non life-threatening injuries after drinking rubbing alcohol while in custody over the weekend. Not much I can add to this. words could not possibly convey the contempt I have for this woman if she is guilty of what she is being accused of doing. If it is true, I can only hope the screams of those two kids burning alive are seared in her brain. I hope she never has one minute of peace until the day she dies. For the people who tried to save those kids, specifically Joe Dickes, I hope that you know you did absolutely everything you could have done to try and save those kids.

Yup, Morbid, “contempt” is what I’m primarily feeling for this woman as well. That she is stupid enough to think that, a) she was going to get away with this and, b)that this would actually save her relationship with her skanky boyfriend, makes me hate her even more. Stupid AND evil. Such a charming combination.
Even though she had to be somewhat cold and calculating to even dream up this plan, and though seeming convincingly agonized was vital to her plan working, people like this rarely ever convince anyone that they were truly in agony over their dead children because they don’t know what true parental love even looks and sounds like in the first place. People who do know better.
It’s like how serial killers are often done in by their own narcissism and inability to comprehend that they aren’t invincible and smarter than everyone else.

I hope it’s the only thing she can ever hear. Jesus God, i’m sitting her having nightmares while i’m awake, just thinking about this. I hope they give her the DP, doubt it because of the charges, but man, it would be poetic justice for her to die burning.
As for Joe, I have so much sympathy for him. This will be with him always. He’s a hero in my book, even though he was unable to save the children, he tried his best and got burnt himself trying.

Let me just say…I love my husband more than life itself. He has been the better part of my adult life and he is an intricate part of my happiness. I often wonder how I would function solo again-without him. We have a child together…

If you look at pictures of Susan Smith with her kids, she looks happy and loving. Anyone who can actually do something this heinous to their own kids, though, IMHO probably doesn’t even know what love is, at least not the love a mother feels for her children. The only love women like this know is the shallow kind they have for their favorite penis. Of course, they don’t know it’s shallow. They think it’s earth-shattering. Clearly, this bitch is mildly retarded. Came up with a plan to off her kids, but couldn’t follow through in a way that didn’t create immediate suspicion. Then she tries to kill herself with… rubbing alcohol?
EDIT: Kdogg, while I tend to believe death is probably too good for this woman, if she wants to die, I’m glad she’ll have to do it herself. Taxpayers shouldn’t be paying to relieve her suffering. Besides, the methods used by the state are far too humane. I take solace in knowing that anything she’s going to have to do to off herself will likely be far more painful than an injection.

I think a lot of these child-murdering mothers are mildly retarded for the exact reason you mentioned. When Diana Downs found out that one of her kids survived his wounds, she reportedly said in a perky tone, “Gee whiz, you mean the bullet missed his heart?”
Yet later she still attempted to play the victim and caring mother. Of course, there are always people stupid enough to fall for the act.

And here’s to hoping that the evidence of arson in this case is sound and based in actual science unlike the Cameron Willingham case in Texas. This woman’s behavior is so suspicious I’ll likely never be convinced she’s innocent, but sound fire science will help to dispel any future doubts.

In one report, a neighbor stated that Hinojosa was on her cell phone calling people and telling them that Whisler had threatened to do this and that she saw him, then, she called 911. I guess phone records will tell that story! Fire investigators also said they found that an accelerant had been used, especially on the front porch of the home and that Hinojosas car had been damaged by some type of fire. So if the fire was started on the front porch, surely, if Sharon didn’t start it, then she could have saved Anthony and Alayna!! Of course, Hinojosas supporters are saying that The Fire Department is to blame for not having fire hydrants closer and they were too slow in getting there, plus, the Mobile manufacturer should be sued because there weren’t any sprinklers in the home, blaming everyone except Sharon!
Oh and Hinojosa had 4 children by 4 different Fathers! Erin, Sharons eldest daughter lives with her Father (don’t know his name) Howard Caudill was Anthonys Father, Korey Jones was Alaynas Father and then Aidens Father is Justin Whisler! Whew! Sharon got around!!

I have 3 children from 3 different “Fathers”, ranging from 16-2 years old … anyone who knows me from this site knows this. My kids are my life. No man comes before them. Period.
That being said… I have told you all… we are going to see more and more of this stuff happening, especially in Michigan (which has the highest unemployment rate of the USA)… Couple economic times with everything else and I am really wondering what happened. She could’ve given these beautiful little ones to their biological fathers. Why didn’t she? Was it better to murder her babies than it was to pay child support for them? *sigh* Sick fucking people in this world… and its only getting worse.

I HATE this woman. I HAAAAAAAATE her. I don’t typically comment on the FP, but this one in the forums just made me so angry. This is one of the most depraved things I’ve read here. All baby killers are horrible, but the ones that seem like that thought it out are a million times worse. She planned this.

My middle two are 3 and 2… I can’t imagine this. I would die before I would ever let ANY of my children “sleep through” being burned to death. I would die trying to save them.

Well just to start off!I have known Sharon for about 10 years! She was a good person & mothre!She loved her kids! I haven’t sent to much time with her in the last few years but she has been just like a part of our family.I can’t believe she would do this to her childern.They were her life.She smiled everytime she was with them.U could see the sparkle in her eyes when she was with them.
As for u her tryin to kill herself.I think if i was in her shoes and two of my four childern were died and i heard their screams as they burned i would try to kill myself to.I think anyone would just to get those screams out of your head.She was never the type of person to pick a man over her kids.That is why is has 4 kids with 4 different men. She wouldn’t stay with any man just because of their child nor would she hurt her childern to keep a man.
Sharon was like a family member to us for 10 years atleast.I am the Aunt of her oldest daughter Erin.People say alot of things just based on what they read or hear third hand.No one really knows what haoppened that night at the home except sharon the kids and god.But people sayin things like they r on this site doesn’t help sharons childern or family members that r greveing and tryin to figure out what happened for real. How absolutely horrifying. Just terrible. I once met a woman who tried to murder her children (she was in prison at the time) and she was one of the coldest, most inhuman people I’ve ever met. When I saw her, she had several bruises on her face and very few teeth. I was informed by the COs that she is frequently attacked by other inmates and lost most of her teeth in fights. In women prisons, women who kill children are about as popular as child rapists and crooked cops in male prisons. Women who kill their own children are the worst of their worst. If she goes to prison (as they should) she won’t do well there. You can count on that.
