ALBANY, Oregon – On September 19th, Vidal-Hernandez went to Samaritan Albany General Hospital and told the staff that her friend had given birth to triplets on the side of the road on was on her way there via Life Flight helicopter. Staff went to verify her story, and noticed that she had walked away. The staff began looking for her and located Trinity Vidal-Hernandez at the maternity ward nurses station. She was escorted her off of the floor and the Albany Police Department were contacted. She gave police a similar story and showed them a photo of a newborn infant she claimed that her friend had sent it to her. Albany Police Detectives are now saying that Trinity Vidal-Hernandez’s intent was to steal a baby.

She was arrested yesterday and charged with attempted kidnapping, initiating a false report, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief and has been placed in the Linn County Jail. How did detectives come to this conclusion? Well I am sure a lot of information still hasn’t been made public, but here is what is being reported.

Obviously, the friend having a baby story was fake. Vidal-Hernandez told family members she worked at the hospital as recently as AugustAugust reviews 2009. During this time, police said Vidal-Hernandez began to spend time at the hospital while wearing scrubs. Investigators say she has displayed similar behavior at other hospitals. In her defense, she states that a nurse over-reacted when the nurse overheard Hernandez talking about a friend’s kids. Also, she worked at a health clinic across the street from the hospital, and that’s why she was seen wearing scrubs.

Vidal-Hernandez is married with three kids of her own, and a neighbor had this interesting jab when reporters asked her about her neighbor. “I would have never guessed kidnapping a kid, especially an infant, when we often wonder how she deals with the ones she has that she doesn’t watch half the time,” Cindy Johnston said.

Regardless of what this woman was up to – attempting to snatch an infant or just being really strange – kudos to the staff of Samaritan Albany General Hospital for keeping an eye out and reacting quickly.
