MUNCIE, Ind – A lot of questions and opinions with this story, but no real answers. 21-year-old Jacob Sexton got into an argument with Show Place theater employees over being carded to see the “R” rated ZombielandZombieland reviewsZombieland reviews. Sexton was home on leave from Afghanistan, scheduled to return next week. He had been drinking and was accompanied by his two brothers and a friend. Approximately 20 minutes into the film, Sexton asked to see his brother’s gun. Sexton then loaded the chamber and shot himself in the head. His brother said that, before Jake pulled the trigger, he pushed his friend out of the way so the friend would not get injured. WitnessesWitnesses reviewsWitnesses reviews reported hearing a loud pop, then the Jacob’s companions screaming; one of them beating on a wall in anguish. A lot of people surprised with this one, with a lot of people who knew the guy coming forward stating that this was just a drunk kid who got stupid with a gun. But from the descriptions of his actions, it sure does seem like suicide. But either way, accident or not, drunk or not – my condolences to his friends and family.

I didn’t read in the Forums about the loading and pushing friend out of the way..

Poor guy..I can’t imagine what must have been going through his head.

“Pass Me Your Gun” does NOT sound like regular movie theater conversation in the least…Wouldn’t you kinda ask ‘why’ first?,i mean…Dark room, loaded with people…Not the smoothest way to bring attention to “P.T.S.D” :-/…

Poor kid. I know from personal experience that alcohol can take any urges to self harm and make them a sudden intense compulsion. Any coping self talk you usually use can just *poof* like you’ve never learned it.

Passing a gun around in a public place is really dumb, but I can see that they may not have thought he’d do something like that. He may not have been seriously contemplating suicide before something triggered him.

I wish his loved ones, and the strangers in the theatre, a speedy healing process.

    … awesome movie though.

I’m sure going back to the war was not a pleasant thought for him. Being over there can really mess ones mind up for a long period of time. The time he spent there could have been long, and the idea of going back could have been too much.

I don’t think alcohol had anything to do with it. When I was in Iraq, there was plenty to drink, illegal, but there. I’m sure it was the stress of going back to a no win situation.

No one thinks it’s weird they had a gun in the 1st place? Why would you be carrying an empty gun at that and have a different person have the ammo? That doesnt sound like you would carry it for protection….what would you say…”Hey man i’m being robbed can you wait a sec so I can get some ammo?”
