Keashia Matthews Suffers From Chronic Stupidity

Arlington, TX – Keashia Matthews has squished out a total of five children – but, because she has proven herself to be an idiot shitty mother in the past, she lost custody of two of those children some time back. That left her with three kiddos she needed to care and provide for. A task in itself for a two parent family blessed with functioning brain cells, it must have been quite the uphill battle for the single Keashia. Seeing as how her lovely mugshot is gracing the pages of the Dreamin’ Demon, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Keashia has a history of neglecting her children. Suzette Edwards, Keashia’s mother, has custody of two of her children, now 14 and 12. Suzette gained custody after the 14-year-old was found alone and malnourished in a rancid apartment as an infant, and has had custody of the 12-year-old since she was born. “She (Keashia) has aggression issues, and she is not fit to be a mother,” Suzette said. “She never has been. She has never liked children.” That is just the tip of the iceberg.

According to CPS, Keashia is a pathological liar and may be suffering from an untreated mental illness. While I’m sure the file they hold on her is rather thick, here are a few goodies pulled from said file:

She lost custody of the first child after the baby “was found unsupervised, severely malnourished, unkempt, drugged by Ms. Matthews to make her sleep, and with severe physical and medical needs.” She lost custody of the second child at birth because of the history of abuse of the first child. She stated at the time that she “hated the child and did not want to have anything to do with her. Ms. Matthews has on many occasions stated that she does not like children.” Matthews attempted to burn down her mother’s house, attacked her mother with a knife and attacked her stepmother with a rake. Her third child was removed by CPS shortly after birth in March 2003 and returned to her in November. She was reportedly seen hitting and yelling at her third and fourth children in March. That allegation was later ruled out by CPS. In May, it was discovered that Keashia had been leaving her children, ages 6, 5, and 1, home alone during the day while she worked. CPS investigated and did nothing. CPS spokesman Chris Van Deusen had this to say about that particular incident: “While there is certainly a risk of harm in leaving three young children home alone, it’s not an ‘immediate’ risk because serious injury isn’t imminent.” The agency closed the neglect case after Keashia procured a sitter for the young ‘ens.

Fast forward to September 3. Keashia is once again lacking adequate day care and parenting skills. She loads 17-month-old Darrell into her SUV and heads to work. Possibly thinking that her son could do a damn fine job of caring for himself and keeping himself entertained while she brought home the bacon, Keashia left the kiddo strapped into his seat so “he wouldn’t get into stuff.” She did, however, periodically check on the child throughout the 8-hour long work day. About every 30-45 minutes. And, each time she ambled on out to the parking lot, she would run the AC for a few minutes for the little tyke – after all, it was a whoppin’ 98 degrees out that day. When she popped out at about 3:00 that afternoon with a nice cold drink for Darrell, she noticed “he looked kinda funny and a little red.” And well, he was unresponsive. No biggie, she’d get him to the hospital, right? Wrong. First she had to pick the other two up from school. By the time she arrived at the hospital, it was too late for little Darrell. His body temperature was 107. Toasty…

Keashia Matthews, 37, was arrested last week and faces a felony charge of injury to a child. She was released over the weekend after posting a $13,000 bond. Someone needs a uterus removal…

    Oh, he’s such a handsome boy. If she hates kids why didn’t she just tie her tubes? I know at our local hospital as long as you’re at least 21 they’ll ask you about tying your tubes when they’re doing paper work when you’re in labor. I’m still amazed that CPS didn’t do anything when the three kids were being left alone. I’ve heard so many horror stories about things that happen when the parents just turn their head for a second let alone are gone for an entire work day. I have two toddlers and I think they’d seriously hurt each other if someone wasn’t there to monitor them and break up their battles.

    I’m sure CPS as usual investigated itself and found no wrongdoing
    We just had a case, poor mother leaves children for a few minutes to pick up another child and CPS is all over it and takes her well-feed, well mannered not abused children in a very clean environment away
    But throw in a known abusive parent and no problem do whatever you want, case closed
    Until CPS stops being a political perk, and the administrators are held accountable, it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars and destructive to the poor children involved. CPS is the most disorganized, disgustingly run agency in the nation, no training, no accountability, no follow through, when they do something right its more by accident than intension
    Until administrators are held responsible for their department/agency as they would be anywhere else many children will die because of their irresponsiblity and lack of accountability

    Okay, time to vent. My first time posting, but I’m pissed!!! The CPS workers there sound like the same CPS workers here that I’ve been trying to get to do something about my sister abusing her children. It took forever for me to get custody of my 14-year old niece, and four reports later (not all by me) about my 9-year old nephew, he is still in my sisters care. WTF CPS, do your job.

    Parents, if you don’t want your kids, give them to someone who does. Every child deserves to be loved. Will this never end?

    Ummm whaaat? This is so unfortunate, but I’m surprised it took this long for something terrible to happen. No one noticed at work that she was running out that much or perhaps that a baby was in a car ALL DAY!!!!!!

    I’m not mad at CPS, there are too many of these broads pushing out babies so sometimes they have to make compromising decisions. Granted there is a lot of ineptitude in the system, but these people need to be made to be responsible for their own messed up behavior. Start locking up both parents when something like this happens and I bet more men would stop impregnating these obviously unfit, mentally deficient, immoral, killer so-called mothers. Poor babies.

    After months of searching online social networking Web sites and calling cellphone numbers to no avail, Darrell Singleton finally received a call about the whereabouts of Trey, his 17-month-old son.

    Singleton said that when Matthews called him on the day his son died, she told him that he died of meningitis.

    “I didn’t catch it at first, but I eventually realized that she had lied to me,” Singleton said. “He couldn’t have died from meningitis, because I was the one who took him to get the vaccination shots.”

    On July 2, 1996, police in Detroit found Matthews’ firstborn child alone in a crib wearing only a diaper and “in a very distressed condition, wet and crying,” according to the Michigan documents.

    In addition to suffering from severe diaper rash and an infection, the girl “had other marks which were in varied healing stages, i.e. circular marks between her thighs and in her back and scratches on her upper shoulder blades, which were red and purple in color.”

    Matthews had no explanation for her daughter’s bruises, the documents said.

    Authorities seized Matthews’ second daughter upon birth. A court found that Matthews “had no prenatal care, no home, income or supplies” for the girl and had made no effort to work toward her first daughter’s return home, the documents said.

    The News previously reported that Matthews lost custody of her first two children in Michigan and that her mother adopted them.

    But the two March 1998 adoption evaluation reports for those girls, then ages 1 and 2, shed new light on the extent of Matthews’ grim history as a mother.

    Matthews, 37, was arrested on charges that she contributed to the Sept. 3 death of 17-month-old Darrell “Tre” Singleton III by knowingly leaving him in a hot SUV for eight hours while she worked in Bedford. Darrell’s body temperature was 107.5 degrees when he was pronounced dead at an Arlington hospital that day.

    The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled this week that he died of heat stroke and classified the case as a homicide. If convicted of the felony injury-to-a-child charge, Matthews faces up to life in prison.

    It was unclear late Tuesday whether CPS ever obtained the adoption evaluation reports from Michigan. But Child Protective Services in Texas has known of Matthews’ history in Michigan since at least March 2003, when Matthews gave birth to her third child here, records show. That daughter was ordered into foster care, but a judge returned her to Matthews months later.

    CPS investigated Matthews again in March of this year after someone told the agency that she was seen hitting her third and fourth daughters. The agency ruled out that allegation, but not before it received a report in mid-May that Matthews was leaving the three children home alone, according to records.

    That case was closed in June after Matthews made day care arrangements for her children, CPS officials have said. It remains unclear why, if Matthews had arranged day care, Darrell was in her SUV while she worked on the day he died.

    Matthews’ attorney, Loren C. Green, said in an interview Tuesday that his client is a struggling single mother who “honestly believed that someone would show up that day to pick up young Tre.”

    It is unclear who was supposed to pick the toddler up. When asked why Matthews did not bring her son into work with her rather than leave him in her SUV on a 95-degree day, Green said: “I think that’s part of the problem that we’re faced with right now in that she’s given quite a few statements to police.

    “I believe if she had been able to answer those questions to their satisfaction, we wouldn’t be in this position right now,” he said.

    Dezury Ashford, 32, of Little Rock said he is waiting for Texas authorities to sort out what will happen to his daughter, now 6.

    Matthews, 37, of Arlington, faces a charge of injury to a child after the Sept. 3 death of her son, Darrell Singleton III. Police say the 17-month-old was left in an SUV on a hot day while his mother worked at a Bedford TV station. If convicted, Matthews could face up to life in prison.

    The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled that Singleton died of heatstroke and that the death was a homicide. The district attorney’s office said a grand jury will decide whether to upgrade the charge.

    Ashford’s daughter and her 5-year-old sister were taken into state custody after Matthews’ arrest. Matthews’ mother, Suzette Edwards, is seeking custody of both girls. She has already adopted two older children born to her daughter.

    Matthews’ five children all have different fathers, records show.

    Ashford, a computer engineer, said he’s now married with two sons. He has been paying $450 a month in child support to Matthews, he said.

    “Right now, I am waiting on the courts in Texas to tell me what I need to know to get my daughter,” said Ashford, who said he last saw her in January. “Until I hear something, I’m just going to wait. At least I know she’s being taken care of.”

    Ashford said he met Matthews while they were living at the same apartment complex in Little Rock. They dated for more than a year, but as their relationship soured, he said, she went back and forth between Texas and Arkansas.

    They can find the time to immediately investigate ,a false report of educational neglect(yep, on me. The worker came out, and she looked at her report and said” wait a minute, whoever reported this , didn’t even report a valid number of days for this to be educ. neglect! Why am I even here?”
    The social worker at the school admitted she was the one who called it in!
    I know they have so many cases, and not enough workers?
    I know somebody who is immoral, mistreats her 3 kids, and even kicked her 9 year old daughter out of her own room, so some low life criminal who she didn’t even really know could have it! She beat her daughters’ bare butt with a belt for telling a teacher that she does not have a bed, even though it is true!
    And yes, I have called several times on her. Requested wellness checks…nothing. If anything these people got a snotty attitude twards me.
    Ok, I’m venting. I’ll stop. This hits close to home, because that little boy looks ALOT like 1 of the kids I am talking about:(

    The agency I work for works closely with CPS (called DCF here) and I am often very frustrated with them and not taking kids out of situations I know are abusive.
    However, they have to have such strict rules about “imminent danger” and whatnot not only so they don’t get sued or take kids away when they shouldn’t be but also because they just don’t have anywhere to place the kids. There are not enough foster homes or group homes. Also, alot of abused kids have mental or behavioral problems that would mean they are placed in a therapeutic foster care, there are even less of those. So sometimes even if they want to remove a child they can’t if there is nowhere to place them.
    I do believe they drop the ball quite often though.

    Prosecutors say an Arlington woman accused in the hot-car death of her 17-month-old son outside her workplace has been indicted on a felony murder charge.

    Assistant District Attorney Kimberly D’avignon says a Tarrant County grand jury Friday indicted 37-year-old Keashia Dyon Matthews in the Sept. 3 death of Darrell “Tre” Singleton III.

    Child Protective Services records detail a troubling history for Matthews and her five children.

    She lost custody of her first baby when the 16-month-old was found “unsupervised, severely malnourished, unkempt, drugged by Ms. Matthews to make her sleep, and with severe physical and medical needs.”

    After her second child was born, she “stated that she hated the child and did not want to have anything to do with her.”

    The first two children, born in the 1990s, went to live with their grandmother in Michigan long ago. CPS seized her third and fourth children in September, after Darrell’s death.

    D’avignon says Matthews could face a term of up to life in prison if convicted on the murder charge.

    Such a horrible thing that has happened to baby darrell I cant beleave that Keshia would do that I read all comments and folowed the papers and its very funny how they dont mention certain things such as I knew Keshia and Darrell actually her son and my daughter were in the same day care class room we both were in a shelter togehter which the paper never mentioned this lady and her 3 children were in a shelter which only allows you 30 days to stay to get a job a car child care and a place to stay which is almost impossible but they don't care they will kick you out trust me I've seen it done also she was on a program for women “open arms” and they are the worst program for women I knew several women my self included that got kicked off the program for things they could not control like they told me my abuser was to agrressive and the only way they could help me was to move me and my family out of state, or my friend she did not have enough problems to be in there program that program sent me back to the shelter they gave my friend 3 days to leave her home which she had no where to go lucky at that time I had a place and let her stay with me for a few weeks the problem does not only lye on cps it lies on these programs to help women I put in application for child care in june 2009 it is now janurary 2010 still no day care my mother had to move from another state to help me with my children if that did not happen I dont know what I would do but sorry keshia I would never go as far as leaving my child in a car to work now I did not know her that well not sure what happened with her prior cps cases she may not have been a fit parent so we say stop having kids y wait untill a person is 21 why not make a system where a women is allowed to have no more than 2 kids to be on welfare or hell tie there tubes or give them an iud (prevents child birth for up 10 years) to recieve these benifits keshia failed her son and the system failed her as well as many other women in america something has to be done there needs to be more options out there for women in poverty because im living it and it extremly hard after leaving an abusive man and starting off with nothing as for keshia may god have mercy on her soul I beleave she should be punished and not lightly I also beleave she was not in her right state of mind due to the shelter situation and maybe the state knowing she was having child care issues should have step there foot foward and helped the woman out I also have a freind that was my roomate in the shleter and she was involved with cps now they did provide free child care for her child for 5 months maybe they should of gave this women that option we can spend billions on other countries but cant help are own in our own country thats the problem point blank.

    CPS will not do anything to protect children. They wait until they are dead. I have twin granddaughters that I am trying to get custody of. CPS will not do anything at all and I can not do anything legally until they do. My grandddaughters are 3 years old. I just found out, she held one of them under water to see if the father cared. My daughter is a alcoholic drug addict, she has 6 assult covictions, 3 stays at the phyic ward and they will not do anything!!!!!!! This is killing me, I can not gget any help. Oh dear god, please help my granddaughters! K and S grandma

    I am a grandma fighting to get my grandchildren out of an abusive situation before my daughter kills them! There is a whole lot of us grandparents doing the same thing and fighting CPS. So I do not believe the excuse there is no where for these kids. Reasearch Grandparents support groups and you will see what I am talking about

    Im not the one to judge god will handle this but i read this story and a few other on the same case its interesting how i see statements from the dad who wanted nothing to do with his son as well as her mother who made really harsh comments abt her having the baby whn she abused her own daughter interesting that cps wld give her two oldest children to an abuser as well (grandma) that also is a public record also ppl may say o i would have looked after a child or she coulda asked me smh thats not true im no where near taking up for her but my lil sis is needing help from the gov they told her she has to find a job in order to get childcare ok now she has a job but now she has to go back to ask for childcare wtf who is gonna help with day care whn you stay in a shelter you only get 30 days thn they put you out on the street kids and all i cant even image my kids in this situation but who will i be to judge i hope the mother gets all the help she can and i hope the other 4 kids happiness in there precious lives and trey rip lil angel

    i had the scary experience of metting this lady…I was detained for child suport and it was on the same day she was arrested and given her sentence…and still she said without tears that her life is over because she lost her kids….but you wana know what? …she scared me not only because of her size but because of all the things she said..shee told a story of how the baby wasntin the car and how someone was suppose to have gotten him out and he went to the hospital that night before and she didnt know he was in there…then she smiled and said that life is better without kids and how she didnt want any of them and then she flipped to how the father laughed at her in court and how she’d like to take that smile off his face…this was my first expereience in HOTEL HELL.. correction i spent 6 days over 10 years ago for slapping my husband at the time in the face in front of a police officer…i was pregnant and pretty mad about some things…but nothing could;ve prepared me for this walk through hell..i met a lot of people in there and lots who just i have no clue how to put it…that place is medicated to no end and the inmates know how to get what they want the doctor to order for them..i know that this lady here was in whats called ‘rotation’…you can only come out when its your hour for an hour and its in a cell with one bunk and she stayed there till they took her to the prison or tdc i cant remember. all i remmber is she was scary and the first person who was an inmate who talked to me…in my mug shot you can seethe tears swelling in my eyes and I love my kids lots and i would die literally inside if anything happen to my kids..i just have a jerk for an ex as thier daddy …who thinks i should pay still for hi, to live with his mom as he is 34  and keeps my kids from me..i have other children and well i am told by many that the reason for my child support and him forcing the issue of me going to this HEll hole was because i will not go back and be with him…I am sure that in all things that being in that place was not the answer….i am not of or like those many people who are in there..there is a few like myself who are thier for the slightest of things..but this lady got a deal where she can parole out in less time than you think! you can kill someone and serve onlly like maybe 7-15 years (sometimes it doesnt even go that long)  then be out and free…you can be a prositute for years and years and have HIV and still be a prositute and get a slap and sent out for it…after 6 months or a couple of years..as sick as this story is it is sad that she will not sit and think of the face of who she had a hand in killing…and he was her baby..instead the meds will wipe that chubby cheek smile of her baby she didnt want away and she will be free in no time and no mandate on her uterus being detained or the plug being pulled so she dont give live again and do this or the actions she has before in repeatition again…they can court order her to not ever have a kid again…look it up..but no they didnt do that…they sent her for some time and then she’ll be free

    i want you to know that she claimed sitting there in booking that she beat the man who she claimed beat her…she claimed that they had a hand in it together. but she claimed someone was there to help care for the child and he wasnt suppose to be in the SUV on that day..her story was a bit out there. i have several children and i pay child support..if youscroll down you will see my post. i didnt owe a large amount and i can care for my children and i am a great mom….so this hurts about how she also claimed she used the system to get what she needed and she kept on talking about how she would tell people things to get her way and she did it while she was detained there before they took her to serve her days out day for day…..she may have creid and played a good role before her sentencing but I will asure you that she played people for fools…but the smoke eventually cleared and then she was seen for what she is…and unfit wasnt the only word to add in it…

    i know she liked the check you sent…but she claimed it was all for the money. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is how it was worded when she spoke….i will not forget the words she spoke..it sent a chill right through me….also you shouldnt wait any time…go get your child and bring her into the normalacy and sure let her visit with her siblings..she needs her parent and also it should be placed that there be restrictions to ensure that no foul play is repeated…
