Parenting Tip #137 – How NOT To Improvise At Nap Time

Phoenix, AZ - A wise man once said, “A word to the wise ain’t necessary, it’s the stupid ones who need the advice.” That said, here’s a bit of advice: Bathtubs don’t make good playpens. One family had to go and learn that the hard way SundaySunday reviewsSunday reviews afternoon. While attending a house party, the parents of an 8-month-old baby boy laid the child down for a nap in the bathtub. He was left there to snooze, in the tub, for about 30 minutes. When his parents returned to check up on him, they found him submerged in water. He was admitted to the hospital in extremely critical condition and passed away the next day. (I have had to improvise sleeping arrangements on more than a couple of occasions and not once did I ever even consider the bathtub an appropriate place to lay a child – asleep or awake). Right now the question is who the hell turned the water on? Phoenix Fire Captain Alex Rangel said, “We’re not exactly sure, how water could be turned on, but we’ve seen it before, kids, eight to 10 months can crawl, reach up to turn on water or it could possibly have been another sibling. Other children we could see there, were three to six years old.” This very well could have been an accidental death, heartbreaking, but totally preventable. Common sense people – use it.

Really a bathtub?!! Bunch of idiots. I found an article in which it seems that there are currently no charges, hopefully at the very least they will be charged with stupid resulting in death of a child (I wish that was a law). I mean really was there no sofas in the house? no beds? damn at the very least carpet? Was the party so rowdy that no one heard the water turned on in the tub. How were they gonna hear the baby cry? Or did they just not care enough to hear him cry? Why do the stupid people keep reproducing?!! sorry a little off topic at the end.

A bed with pillows could also work too if need be. A bathtub has never once crossed my mind, very strange!

I used to put mine to sleep in his rock-able carseat or his stroller(w/ brakes applied of course).

Yuck there was a case like this in Michigan and the parents let a baby of around the same age as this one take a nap in a boat and he drowned, Haven't these people heard of a pack-n-play? They're fairly easy to haul around and set up and you can get a new one for as low as 40 bucks.

So the 8 month old also managed to plug the drain, too? Can't wait to hear what they come up with for a defense. RIP little man, now you're safe in a cloud and not a bath tub.
