Jury, it’s not unusual for one child to be singled out for abuse while the rest are well fed and cared for. It’s happened in numerous cases where one child is tortured beyond belief and the rest don’t have a mark on them.

True Kdogg, and the other kids are often quick to defend and/or deny their mothers actions as well, ofetn blaming the scapegoated child. This womans mugshot though…she looks down right scary and evil, like her soul is dead. Thank god he survived. This reminds me of that book ” A Child Called It”.

Sometime last Friday afternoon, the boy, who is covered in scars, bruises and burns from when he was allegedly doused in alcohol and lit on fire, broke out of the closet and fled the apartment with the help of his eldest sister.
Looks like his sister actually helped him escape!
Officer Clark gave the boy an apple and a soda from his lunch-kit, while Officer Leslie Sanders called police. “The first thing he asked me was what was going to happen to his brothers and sisters,” Officer Sanders said. “He was very calm and well-mannered, always saying ‘Thank you, Sir’ and ‘Yes, M’am.’”
“He had scars on his neck from being choked with an extension cord, and he was covered in bruises and stab wounds that were still healing,” Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Knight said, adding that the victim is now in the custody of the Department of Human Services. “This boy had been abused in the extreme. He was very happy that he was in the presence of police and that he was finally safe.“
I bet he was happy, happy to know that he is free! Best wishes to him and his recovery!

The mother and the boyfriend have admitted to the abuse, and even give more details on exactly what they did to this kid.
In a probable cause affidavit released Wednesday, 37-year-old LaRhonda McCall told police she beat the teen numerous times on his chest, back and legs over the last three years. She told police she choked the teen and used a ruler and broom handle to beat him.
McCall’s friend, 38-year-old Steve Hamilton, told police he beat the teen multiple times with a belt and wire cable and once struck him in the head with a tire jack.

My husband saw this story on the news yesterday. I’ve brought up adoption in the past…sort of a “Maybe one day we can” type of thing. Since he saw that clip, he hasn’t stopped talking about the idea of it. I think he’d pick this boy up today if he could.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – October 15, 2009 — The mother of an Oklahoma boy who says he was locked in apartment closets over four years was charged Thursday with 29 counts of child abuse for allegedly torturing and imprisoning him.
Prosecutors allege that LaRhonda McCall, 37, and her friend, Steve Vern Hamilton, 38, beat the boy repeatedly – with “fists, bike chains, cables, extension cords, and/or boards,” leaving permanent scars. Hamilton is charged with 24 counts of child abuse.
The charges also allege McCall tortured her son in various ways. She once allegedly tied him naked to a ladder and pouring sugar water over him in order to attract insects. Another time, the charges allege, she poured alcohol on him and lit it on fire, burning the boy. She also allegedly forced him to stand barefoot in the snow for more than 45 minutes. McCall and Hamilton were being held in the Oklahoma County jail on $400,000 bond each. Charging documents did not list an attorney for Hamilton or McCall, and the Oklahoma County prosecutor’s office did not immediately return a call left after hours Thursday.
The boy, malnourished and covered in bruises and scars, sought help from a security guard at a National Guard armory on Sept. 25. The teen told police he spent most of the last 4 1/2 years locked inside bedroom closets at various apartments where the family lived and never attended school or received medical attention, authorities said.
The teenager’s 18-year-old sister, Jaleasa McCall, told The Associated Press last month that she would bring her brother food and sympathy, but didn’t have the courage to contact the authorities.
The boy and his six younger siblings have been placed in Department of Human Services custody.
Managers of the last two apartment complexes where the family most recently lived said they occasionally saw some of McCall’s seven other children but never saw the teenage boy.
McCall was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in New York in 1996 in the death of her 2-year-old daughter and served six months jail time. Prosecutors in that case alleged McCall, who then went by LaRhonda Presley, essentially starved the toddler who died in February 1995, according to a New York grand jury indictment obtained by the AP.

The mother is accused in one child abuse count of pouring rubbing alcohol on the boy and setting him on fire. Another time, she allegedly tied him naked to a ladder in a garage and poured sugar water “on his body in order to attract biting insects.”
She allegedly once forced him to stand barefoot in the snow for more than 45 minutes and another time stand barefoot on a patch of ice in a garage for more than two hours. This year, she allegedly stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife.
Both allegedly forced him to stand on one foot with a cord around his neck and around his raised right ankle so that he would choke if he put his right foot down. Police reported the mother admitted the boy “was left like this for about an hour.” Hamilton also allegedly once hit the boy in the head with a tire iron.
About the fire, Hamilton on Oct. 1 told police “he saw LaRhonda purposely pour rubbing alcohol all over B.M.’s body,” according to a court affidavit. “Steve stated LaRhonda had a lighter in her hand and when B.M. moved he was lit on fire. Steve stated B.M. ‘had a blue flame over his entire body.’ Steve stated B.M. was burned on his butt and his ear. However, B.M. was not taken to a hospital.”
Police reported McCall said she accidentally poured rubbing alcohol on her son and he caught on fire when she lit incense.
