Roman Polanski Arrested. Finally.
September 28, 2009 by Morbid
This news is everywhere but I’m posting it anyway because it is turning out to be an interesting subject – especially when looking at the reactions from across the globe. As most know by now, Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on the way to a Zurich film festival. The arrest comes from charges that he raped a 13-year-old girl in the home of Jack Nicholson back in 1977. He was charged with giving Quaaludes to a minor; child molestation; unlawful sexual intercourse with that minor; rape by use of drugs; oral copulation; sodomy. All charges were dismissed under a plea deal but he pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a minor. There are more than enough info out there about his sentencing and all, but to keep things brief, Polanski didn’t like where things were going (meaning he would have to go to prison) and he fled the country and has never stepped foot in the United States since.
I am a big fan of his films, but aside from that, this guy needs to face the music. He has a ton of supporters who feel that the charges should be dropped for some reason that I still do not understand, and that even includes the 13-year-old victim, Samantha Geimer. She publicly forgave Polanski in 1997. She also received a monetary settlement from Polanski. She has since gone on blame the media telling People, “He did something really gross to me, but it was the media that ruined my life.” I am sure the media has hounded her and will continue to do so every time this case comes up. You know, because Polanski raped her when she was 13 and got away with it. But it really doesn’t matter what she thinks at this point.
Fuck Polanski and fuck France. This guy raped a 13-year-old girl. He admitted to it and worked out a deal. When the deal didn’t look that sweet anymore, he ran. So what if he has made great films or has not, as far as we know, fucked any 13-year-old girls since. He did it once and he needs to accept responsibility for what he has done. But others do not agree. I would love to hear from both sides. Why should Polanski not face the same charges any man who rapes a 13-year-old would face? People seem to want to excuse him because this all happened so long ago, that he has made Oscar-winning films, that the judge (now dead) was playing to the media, or because Polanski had a tough life.
If Polanski does not serve some form of time, this will set a terrible example, showing once again that the rich and famous do not live by the same laws you and me do, and that you can rape children and get away with it. Just skip bail and do not get caught for 30 years.
I would give source links, but just type his name in GoogleGoogle
for God’s sake. But here is the People article with Geimer.

I think it’s great he was arrested but unfortunately I doubt he will do any time. As far as he not ever doing it again, once a pedophile always a pedophile. He most likely got smarter after being caught. He probably found it easy to get 13 year old girls over in Europe. I just can’t figure out the plea bargain. Was he really only suppose to spend 45 days in jail for all of the horrendous things he did to that poor girl? He ran when the judge decided to rescind the plea bargain. At least the judge had some sense. Not sure about any one else in this case. And I can see the victim wanting to put it behind her but she should realize it’s not just about her but also about any future victims of his.

I wouldn’t go that far. That judge and his motives were suspect. Not that this means Polanski should get off, but still.
9:50 am on September 28th, 2009
Yep, when I heard he had been arrested my first thought was good. I really hope he does jail time, but we’ll see. He did the crime, he should do the time. He is a pedofile, who cares what else he did with his life. Look at all the other “good” guys who are charged regardless….priests, counselors, teachers, etc.

errrr…what?
11:34 am on September 28th, 2009
Angelica Huston, who was in the same house when this happened claimed that the girl looked to be about 25! If she was 13, then she was obviously of a pubescent age, so he is not technically a pedophile, he’d be a hebephile. The girl was paid off by Polanski years ago, and I seriously doubt that he knew she was that young when this happened. He’s never repeated it, at least that I’ve heard, and has carried on with his life for over 30 years without a repeat of that behavior. The true insult is that even though the girl has moved on with her life with her own family and children and Polanski has been exiled to France, Los Angeles hasn’t moved on. They string this schmuck up by his balls but Michael Jackson dances on the roof of a limousine in front of the court house after allegedly banging little boys in the ass while plying them with Jesus Juice, and walks away from the whole thing scot free, only to become a martyr in death. Tis a fucked up world indeed.
11:43 am on September 28th, 2009
She doesn’t look 25 in her photo, now does she. And just because you haven’t heard of him raping other little girls doesn’t mean he hasn’t it just means he got smart enough not to get caught again.
11:46 am on September 28th, 2009
As a father, I would have followed him to France and dragged his sorry ass back home to face the music. Polanski made sure that day that this poor girl was drugged and 100% thoroughly molested.
But we can’t just blame France. Look at Michael Jackson, a hardcore drug addict whose penis was described in detail to police by one of his alleged child victims. There are a lot of scumbags who are good at their jobs who will be protected by those who adulate them for their work. In both the MJ and Polanski cases, money was paid to the victims to shut up, or apologize.
The fact that Ms. Geimer has repeatedly come out to bury the case (for her own peace, and that of her family) is quite significant. However, when she was 13, a crime was committed against her by a sexual predator.
The reason we put these assholes behind bars is to protect our sons and daughters from them. As a mother of three, she must realize this, and using the same strength that has allowed her to live a normal life these 30 years, allow Polanski to be extradited and prosecuted in California.
Polanski’s work isn’t going anywhere. His talent is obvious, and the accolades are well-deserved. He’s also had a long and prosperous life since he fled. He escaped the Krakow ghetto during WWII, having seen terrible, unspeakable crimes. He should be brave now as well, and face the music for his.

I never said that she looked 25, Angelica Huston did. But no, she looks like a sweet little school girl on her way to higher education. Something tells me she didn’t look like this when she was hanging out and partying with Hollywood hotshots, and partying into the wee hours with them. Maybe she showed up to court in pigtails and holding onto her dolly, I have no idea, but I would bet she didn’t look like the sweet little girl in the picture above. I wonder where her parents were?
11:53 am on September 28th, 2009
Don’t even get me started on Michael Jackson.
It makes no difference if the victim has “moved on” after accepting her lump sum or not. Had this been you or I, we’d have to pay the piper. No ifs, ands or buts. Polanski should man up and pay his dues instead of using his fame to avoid it. As should all famous perps.
Don’t scream for blind justice unless you want it. I, for one, demand it.
12:07 pm on September 28th, 2009
And for the record, she was doing a Vogue shoot that he was in charge of. Her parents gave permission for the shoot. I highly doubt he didn’t know she was 13, given that she had to have fucking PERMISSION.

Germans go to Czech Republic, former USSR countries etc. for pedo vacations all the time. I agree that Polanski (not technically a pedo) would find it far easier to abuse minors in Europe.

E Diddy
Difference between MJ and Polanski= 1 was plead guilty to the charges while the other had the charges dropped AND was aquitted.
12:27 pm on September 28th, 2009
In the MJ case (the first one) I blame the father. He, the father, chose to except a settlement in exchange for dropping the charges.
12:44 pm on September 28th, 2009
Exactly what I was going to come in and say. It was never proven Micheal Jackson did anything illegal (even if he did) and he never wavered from professing his innocence. He was found innocent. Polanski, however, was not. He just decided he didn’t like that his ass may actually see some prison and he fled.
You can read the unsealed transcripts : http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/polanskicover1.html and then marvel at these coddling fucks who demand that a 43-year-old man not be punished for fucking a 13-year-old girl in the ass.
1:12 pm on September 28th, 2009
Not just f’ing a little girl but also being a calculated predetory rapist AND AN ADMISSION of guilty. His actions were no different then pedophiles making “sex trips.” Or predators who seek children in vulnerable situations like single mothers w/out a support system etc. Or predators that manipulate the system to place themselves in areas of trust. For most, they didn’t just happen to end up around children. They intentionally PLANNED, STRATEGIZED and ORGANIZED ways to gain access to out children. They congregate, discuss and share tips on what will work and what won’t. They share with each other places where they can surround themselves with childre. They encourage each other and try and justify their depravity with each. There are sites that instruct the PREDATORS how to access children. Polanski abused his position as a celebrity and powerful person in the ent. industry to gain access to this young girl.
If the charges are dropped then that’s one more victory for PREDATORS.

Thanks Morbid. “Cuddliness”. I can’t get over that.
I’ve read. I’ve puked. I stand by my original sentiment.

The entire point is being missed here! I know a lot of people here feel that no 13 year old is ever capable of giving consent, but I think some of them can, and these things should be decided on a case-by-case basis.
But…
She said “No“. That is rape. Period. Whether she was 13 or 30, he got her drunk, fed her pills, and didn’t stop when she said “No”. He should absolutely do time for that. He’s not a pedophile (this girl did not look like a child when the crime was commited), but he is a rapist.
I really can’t believe everyone’s so caught up with her age ( and Michael Jackson) that they’re overlooking the fact that he raped her.
This is exactly why I object to people using the term “rape” to refer to cases of consensual sex between adults and teenagers. I think “rape” should reserved for cases like this, where one party was not consenting.
2:48 pm on September 28th, 2009
Yes, he raped her. Gave her drugs and raped her. What I dont get is isnt there statue of limitations on rape? Why did they arrest him now? They’ve know where he was all this time. I thought the case was dropped? It a little confusing to me. Imma do some research with the links provided.

I can’t believe that this is even up for discussion!!! That man raped a little girl, and there is not a 13 year old girl on this planet that has the maturity to give consent (most of course, will claim they are) Her parents are assholes, but that is not the point.
4:28 pm on September 28th, 2009
There are no statue of limitations on being a fugitive from justice, which is what he was.
5:40 pm on September 28th, 2009
Polanski didn’t flee simply because he didn’t like where things were going, he fled because the Judge was unethical- The Prosecutor on the case has spoken out that the Judge broke every rule of ethical conduct when he excepted a plea then before Polanski got the courthouse to turn himself in the Judge bowed to political pressure (AFTER excepting the deal and the plea).
And just to be correct Loretta Lynn was married and having babies at 13yrs so yes a 13 year old does have the understanding to give consent.
Times were different, the man was a victim of one of this countries most infamous crime-
His victim says she wants the charges dropped and does not think he should be jailed. Truth is dragging it up one more time is just re-victimizing her.

If you try hard enough you can find some BS out there to work in favor of your opinion
but to most of us 13 year olds can’t give consent, and yeah we also have a problem with drugging them to facilitate the rape
Guess if your from the hills of West Virginia it’s all good. Hell she might be a bit old and not so desirable since she not a sister or cousin.
6:20 pm on September 28th, 2009
Even if that were the case, it does not mean Polanski has the right to skip bail and not return for over 30 years. He plead guilty to the charge of fucking a 13-year-old in the ass and did not like the fact that he may serve over 40 days in jail.
That was 1949 rural Kentucky involving a girl willfully marrying another man and starting a family – not 1977 California in which a 43-year-old Oscar winning director fucks a 13-year-old girl in the ass after giving her drugs and alcohol.
And what crime would that be, exactly? And is this infamous crime worse than raping a child?
Yeah, and women who get their teeth knocked out by there husbands feel the same. It’s why a victim has no say in how someone is sentenced for the crimes they committed. And you know what? This lady wouldn’t be continually victimized had Polanski not shot a load in her ass and ran.
But I don’t expect much from kiddie fuckers anyway, so his running didn’t, and doesn’t, surprise me in the least.
9:46 pm on September 28th, 2009
I have to disagree with this statement. First, scientifically speaking studies are showing that the part of the brain adults use to make decisions/judgement calls are not developed in teenagers, some well into their late teens and early twenties. Which scientist say account for some of their disregard to rules or selfishness. Here is a site you an read for more information http://www.suite101.com/blog/pytel/teenage_brain_not_developed
So to couple a 13 year old child with an adult puts the adult in a overwhelming powerful position over the child not only in experience, authority and physically but also biologically.
Second you are fucking sick to state that a 13 year old child has the ability to consent to sexual activity with some almost 4x their age. SMH

Sooner or later, Karma will get ya, somehow, some way. Its his turn to pay the piper, thats all. Maybe he’ll get a small dose of humility from all this, but I doubt it.
12:37 am on September 29th, 2009
What the victim has not stated is that Polanskis fleeing, is ACTUALLY, the ONLY reason she is being re-victimized…. Had Polanski suffered the consequences of his crime against her, WE wouldn’t be talking about this, now would we? Polanski should just do his time and be done with it! He’s had enough publicity about it, errrrmmmm, 31 years of publicity. That’s enough!
After Polanski serves jail time, He will be like Martha Stewart, all but forgotten, until his next Oscar nomination…..Or idiotic and vile act!!
7:56 am on September 29th, 2009
Morbid, great write up. I completely agree that appreciating the works of someone have nothing to do with your feelings about them as a person, and you can condemn the actions of the person while still liking their works. Doesn’t matter how brilliant your work is or how much you give to society, you rape a kid and you face the music.
Can I join your groupie brigade?
9:21 am on September 29th, 2009
when i was 13, i liked hanging out with adults, drinking booze and smoking reefer. those were choices i made. fortunately for me, i was never molested.
if she testified it was rape, and that she said no, then it’s rape.
so, yeah. fuck polanski. you ever see pretty baby? made my skin crawl then, still makes it crawl now.
2:30 pm on September 29th, 2009
Could be wrong, but the way I understand it is that she already testified it was rape, he pled out to a with a mighty fine deal, and at the last minute (?) learned judge might not have been on the up and up. So he went to France where he knew he would be safe (probably already had that safety net in place).
Polanski kept in no secret that he was going to Switzerland to accept this whatever award. Did he want to see if US would pick him up? Of course we would and did. That tells me either he thinks he’s smarter than most or he was ready to get caught. Either way, I hope he’s shipped back here and gets what he deserves.
The victim stated she doesn’t want this all dragged up again, which I completely understand since it affects not only her but other family members. I wonder why, when she was of age, she didn’t change her name, her identity? Back then, it was really simple. Really easy to even change your SS#. (I know someone who did back in the mid-70’s – a guy I went to school with who’s dad was a cop who committed suicide — he didn’t want to be known as “that guy”.)
Guess she thought nothing would ever come of it after so long. This can be done under the radar, even now, even easier in the 70’s. She could’ve even made up some bogus reason. I know I would have.
2:43 pm on September 29th, 2009
I would never change my identity because of some asshole, witness protection, to protect my family would be the only reason
That asshole Polanski, and Fucking France should be embarrassed and change their name
9:13 pm on September 29th, 2009
Biteme, that would my version of protecting my family — not protecting them from physical harm but from the mental anguish of what they will surely suffer later on. This is just how I would shield my family from these possibilities and I can see your point of view, too.
To this day, we only tell our sons information on a need to know basis. We learned this the hard way; however, it’s nothing in comparison to this (just family drama mostly).
You’re so right about France and I second your motion of Polanski being an asshole. France acts like they’re proud to have him live there.
4:37 pm on September 30th, 2009
It is nice to read that what we have seen coming from France regarding this case isn’t a belief held by the majority of them who give a shit about this.
And not all celebrities are standing behind him. Luc Besson (one of my favorite directors who just got a little more of my respect – a fact he should be proud of) stated “…there is one justice, and that should be the same for everyone.”

I never thought I could dislike this woman any more than I already did, but…
…I do.
5:03 pm on September 30th, 2009
Yup, I agree with you. I don’t care WHEN he did it, the point is, he did it and he admitted to it. I read the transcripts a while back, and was fucking DISGUSTED. So what if he has made great films? He raped a child and ran away from the consequences. He doesn’t deserve special treatment! He’s already lived 30 years without any, so why should he continue to do so? Fuck him. I do feel for the victim, and I totally see where she’s coming from in wishing that the media would leave her alone, BUT, she needs to understand that this case is about more than just her now. This case has the potential to set a precedent for other people who think they are above the law just because they are famous, or old, or what the fuck ever else.
Fuck Roman Polanski. You can’t ply a 13 year old girl with drugs and alcohol and anally rape her and expect to just get away with it. And as for Anjelica Huston, gross. Really gross. Defending a child rapist? Let’s hope her feelings about it have changed over time.
5:11 pm on September 30th, 2009
OMG, that View clip…gross. So, Whoopi says that since he wasn’t actually CHARGED with “rape rape” (whatever the fuck that means), he shouldn’t be punished? Okay, so if you fuck a drugged 13 year old in the ass, but make a deal and plead guilty to lesser charges, that in effect changes what you did? WHAT!? Come on, now! I don’t care what you LEGALLY call it, the semantics don’t mean shit!
God, I hate Whoopi Goldberg!!!

French drop Polanski release call – The French government has dropped its public support for Roman Polanski, saying the 76-year-old director “is neither above nor beneath the law”. The move follows a backlash against a campaign for Polanski’s release, with several leading European politicians and cultural figures refusing to join.

This also happened to me and many of my neighbors when we were a bit younger. He may have only done it once yet I doubt it.

Her parents had to give consent to model for Polanski, so where were they when all this was going on? They just left her alone with him? Were they even at the shoot?
Surely, her parents had to be aware of Polanski’s rep.
