Middle School Teachers Arrested On Child Porn Charges

Reedley, California – Wanna know what is worse than having a middle school teacher get busted for possessing child pornography? Having two of them getting busted at the same time. An investigation was started three weeks ago when investigators were informed of child porn being traded on the internet. This lead them to the home of Vincent Chavez and Samuel Garza. Both taught at General Grant Middle School. Vincent Chavez taught 6th grade English and Language Arts and Garza was a substitute teacher. They were both arrested Tuesday and but are both now out on bail. What makes this story even worse than it is already is the fact that these two men are married. So no doubt their actions will be some nice ammo for those who falsely believe that all homosexuals are automatically pedophiles. And if it couldn’t get more interesting, Vincent Chavez is the son of Pete Chavez. Pete is the Mayor of Reedley and the Chief of Investigations for the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office. “This is a very sad, shocking turn of events,” John Campbell, assistant superintendent with the Kings Canyon Unified School District, said. “Mr. Chavez was a well-respected teacher and member of the community, so it is shocking both for the faculty of the school as well as the students,” he said. School officials say both teachers have been placed on paid administrative leave.

    Both teachers have been put on PAID administrative leave? Really? I’m sorry, but if you have kiddie porn on your computer I don’t think you should pass go and collect that $200…

    Thats just a little ridiculous they got paid leave…wtf is with that. Being teachers with kiddy porn. wtf.

    I wonder what would constitute being put on unpaid leave. Maybe, despite the gross/sick and perverted factor, since the charges weren’t directly (I say that loosely) related to their job the school board can’t stop keep pay. Its a shame too. So many good teachers here in CA were laid off while these two sickos get a paid vacay. SMH

    Sounds to me these guys thought they were above the law and could get away with whatever they wanted. Glad that’s not the truth. Sicko’s….disgusting!

    This is just ONE reason why I will be home schooling my lil boy when he gets old enough. I remember the good ole days when teachers were the ones you could trust to go to if you were being abused sexually or not, not the ones doing the abusing. So sad.
