David L. Reimer, 25, pleaded no contest to the homicide charge and a count of child abuse in Outagamie County Court as part of a plea agreement. Reimer was initially charged with child abuse first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Appleton’s Logan Boyer.

Outagamie County Dist. Atty. Carrie Schneider said the pleas added some relief during a difficult time for the baby’s family. Boyer, who was 2 1/2 months old, was found unconscious and not breathing on May 18, 2009 after being left in the overnight care of Reimer.

“We just had the one-year anniversary a few weeks ago,” she said.

An autopsy revealed multiple rib fractures in various states of healing, a fracture in the boy’s upper arm and head trauma. The cause of death was listed as traumatic brain injury.

Reimer was the boyfriend of the child’s mother, but was not the father of the boy.

Reimer picked up the baby around 9 p.m. and then picked up the boy’s mother from work at 10:15 p.m. The mother then dropped off Reimer and the baby at their Richmond Street residence and left for the night.

Reimer told police that the next morning he found the infant slouched over in a baby seat, not moving, and called an ambulance. Reimer hasn’t told police how the baby was injured though medical reports say Boyer’s injuries would have happened no longer than five hours before he fell unconscious, Schneider said.

The homicide charge carries a maximum $100,000 fine and 27 years of imprisonment, while the child abuse charge carries a maximum $25,000 fine and 12 years of prison.

As part of the plea agreement, Schneider will be free to argue for the sentence she feels appropriate, though the defense cannot argue for anything less than seven years in prison.

Reimer will be sentenced on July 23.

And this is yet another problem with dumb bitches poppin’ out kids too young. They actually think they deserve breaks. I see this quite often, unfortunately… young parents desperate to hand their child off to just about anybody so they can go kick it. Really? If handing your child off to be babysat by some motherfucker you aren’t even with anymore is commonplace by two and a half months, I don’t think there’s much hope.

Well, be sure to tell your friend that, if she reads the instructions on a box of condoms more carefully and waits to have a kid until she can reasonably support one, maybe this won’t happen again. Oh, and no breaks at two and a half months. You’re barely out of the gate. Think that’s bad? You’ve got another 17 years and ten months to go.

Lately, I am truly disgusted by my area of Wisconsin. Between Krazy Glue Dick Man, Evil Shrek and this most recent set of Baby-Shaking Mouth Breathers, I’m beginning to think there’s something in the local water supply that predisposes many of it’s residents to be complete losers.

Then again, I live in the area and I’m not a loser so my theory could be incorrect. However, lately I’ve been really, really tempted to move to Far, Far Away just in case I am right so I don’t contract this particular strain of loseritis.

I don’t understand how a mother can so easily leave her child like he was a pair of shoes. This disgusts me and if anything she should get abandonment or neglect charges dropped on her ass. Something tells me that we do not know the whole story. Seems David was the responsible one.

Whatever happened to that baby did not happen in one night!!
