Does Misty Croslin-Cummings Know Where Haleigh Is?

Putnam County, FL – It’s been almost 7 months since Haleigh Cummings disappeared off the face of the earth. During that time, police have followed up on more than 4,000 leads – Haleigh’s dad, Ronald Cummings, married his 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin – Haleigh’s 6th birthday has come and gone. On August 18, Haleigh’s birthday, authorities announced they believe Haleigh was kidnapped by someone she knew. As of right now, Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, and bio-mom, Crystal Sheffield, are not considered suspects. Ronald’s wife, however, is raising suspicion. Why? Because the girl couldn’t pass a polygraph test, or any other test, for that matter, to save her damn life. In an effort to clear her name, Misty contacted EquuSearch founder and director Tim Miller, and asked if he would administer a lie detector test. “She said she did not trust the cops and asked me if she could take a lie detector test or something,” Miller said. “I told her that was out of the realm of what we did, but this was something that she felt would be helpful, and so we arranged it. This is the first time I have ever been put in a position like this. It has ended with Misty not speaking to us. ” On August 19, the wheels were set in motion.

A polygraph was administered. Misty failed – miserably. In one of the polygraph questions, Misty is asked, “Have you intentionally withheld any information about Haleigh’s disappearance?” Her answer, “No.” According to the polygraph tech, that answer showed a deception rate of 99%. When asked if she knew the whereabouts of Haleigh, she answered, “No.” According to the polygraph tech, that answer indicated a 95% deception rate. You see where this is going? When questioned if she knew who took Haleigh, her answer was, “No.” But, that answer indicated a 46% deception rate. Upon learning the results of the polygraph, Misty asked to be hypnotized. Miller arranged and paid for the hypnosis and a voice analysis to be done. Though she asked for it, Misty was somewhat skeptical of the idea of hypnotism. “All I heard is that you can make someone say something they didn’t,” Misty informed the hypnotist. “They said that I may know the person that did it. I may know the person that did it, but I don’t know whether they came in my home. I never heard that they were coming to take Haleigh.” Private investigator T.J. Ward stated that “the attempt to hypnotize Misty failed because she seemed to be fighting going under.” Two down – one to go!

Moving on to the voice stress test, administered by Ward. “In my opinion, as to the results of the test, she knows something that occurred on the night of Feb. 9 and to Feb. 10 as far as Haleigh going missing,” Ward said. According to Ward, almost as soon as Misty’s lips started moving and sound started coming out, he could tell she was being deceptive. “The system works with involuntary changes of the voice and works off of stress, and I can see from pertinent questions and answers that she’s given me and her responses that not only was she not telling me the truth there was a lot of inaccuracies and there was a lot of things that she didn’t tell me completely that I can detect in the course of the test,” he said. And though the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will neither confirm nor deny this, Ward stated that Misty had, indeed, failed the polygraph tests given to her at the police department as well. Interesting….

Let’s jump to AugustAugust reviewsAugust reviews 28. According to several news sources, while Misty was undergoing and completely failing the battery of tests being administered, she made a comment that indicated she may know where to search for Haleigh. She told investigators they needed to double-check a patch of ground marked by a single plastic rose. “She said there was a place that was not searched very well and that we should look for a red rose, and she gave us the location,” said Steph Watts, who recorded the sessions for EquuSearch. “We went and we looked, and we found it, and the next day we took Putnam County investigators back there,” Watts said. “I don’t think they are going to dig where the rose is and find the body, but the fact that they went with us shows that they are following up on every lead.” EquuSearch is making plans to return to the area in the near future.

Like I stated back in February, this chick is involved – even if it is just from pure negligence.

I find it kinda funny that the more she tries to prove her innocence, the further into the shit-hole she digs herself.

Her attorney is quite shocked as well…seems Misty initiated all of these tests on her own. Good luck cleaning up that mess, dude.

This is too much to ignore. First there were reports of seeing her out and about when she was supposed to be home, now this? What this could be though, is she may be hiding the fact that she wasnt there, and that is causing her to fail the lie detector tests. Im assuming that that is what you mean Morbid, by pure negligence. It would be awesome if she ended up knowing something that could help, but I have a feeling she is just hiding the fact that she left the kids alone….

“I never heard that they were coming to take Haleigh”

That makes me think more than anything else that she knows who has taken the child.

I have a prediction to make, let’s see if I am right: She knows exactly who has taken Haleigh but is scared of them. She’s been watching Mentalist or Lie To Me or somethng and is hoping that the investigators will magically extract the truth from her and that is why she is volunteering for all of this.

As for Haleigh Cummings, members of Equusearch, the Texas-based search team, once again searched an area near the home of her father Ronald Cummings. The 5-year-old vanished from the family’s trailer in March.

Under hypnosis, Ronald Cumming’s 17-year-old wife Misty Croslin Cummings told searchers to look for Haleigh near a rose left in an undisclosed area in Putnam County.

Based on that tip, Equusearch on Saturday headed back out to Satsuma to search for leads in the case, but nothing was found. Watch FOX 35 News at 10 p.m. for in depth look at both stories.

What a circus. I understand that mysterious tragedies put people and families under a great deal of scrutiny, scrutiny that can occasionally break people, but…

Are people really this ridiculous when fully revealed? Ugh.

Anyway, I’m with Morbid on this one. I don’t think she was actively involved in the disappearance, I just don’t think she was around to stop it and made up a story to cover her ass.

    3:10 pm on August 31st, 2009

DNA: They all live in a trailer. That pretty much sums that situation up.

Also, it’s been painfully obvious that she’s had something to do with this case from the very beginning. The other thing that bothered the shit out of me, and this doesn’t have anything to do with this particular article, is that there were something like 45 registered sex offenders in like a five mile radius from their trailer. What parent puts their child in that kind of environment in the first place?

  14. ScribbleMuse
    3:27 pm on August 31st, 2009

I’ve also felt that Misty has had SOMETHING she’s not revealing, or at least not coming clean about, but that it is more than likely not any active part necessarily in Haleigh’s disappearing. She is rock dumb, for one thing. My overall impression/instinct is that she is like a child who still insists that they didn’t do something even when all proof is there. Unfortunately this is hampering any chances of finding Hayleigh and has from the beginning.

I wonder how Ronald feels about all these new developments. He’s not much smarter than Misty, and he reacts on his emotions without any logic to cloud them up.

  15. ScribbleMuse
    3:32 pm on August 31st, 2009

And BTW–”They all live in a trailer” sums up nothing except the type of home they live in. What sums up this group of people is the apparently general IQ average of a 3rd grade education and a history of dysfunction.

I understand the whole trailer stereotype, but to say that it sums up a situation where a child has been abducted and possibly murdered is ignorance.

this remark is offensive i lived in a trailor and i am not trash nor is my family.

on a side note.. i have to agree with the others misti knows something but she was out and about and doesn’t want to reveal that.

Yeah… I’ve got to say, Melissa, poor does not equal evil. Sometimes, good people encounter circumstances that place them in less than ideal situations, like living in a trailer park or in a neighborhood with a high concentration of sex offenders. Sometimes, people just don’t have the resources to move themselves out of these areas, and they shouldn’t necessarily be punished for it.

Now, there’s no evidence to incriminate the father or his young wife, so I don’t know that taking shots at them about their lifestyle is particularly appropriate. The girl is suspicious, sure, but let’s also recall that the error margin for polygraphs can vary and the use of polygraphs in court is banned in several jurisdictions due to this fact.

ty jaded for writing this up. i wondered if this had been forgotten. i mean by all peeps, law enforcement included. so i guess i should thank misty also for bringing herself back into focus.

i have to agree with Athena on the poor people cant always pick to live in the burbs. also, i live around a high concentration of sex offenders bc hey, its a dating pool. no, seriously, bc i live by the halfway house they go to when they come out of prison. its secure tho. they gotta go somewhere.

i like how she went from 4 possibilities of who could have done it to 3 all of the sudden. like she didnt want to mention the 4th. she mentioned the babymamma, her own brother, and i cant remember who else, her cousin? She did NOT mention any sort of drug debt or other retribution. which leads me to believe that is who she thinks did it. she is not smart enough to be briar rabbit.

I live in a small town in Ky (in a house)and I looked up sex offenders a couple of years ago and there was at least that many. Unless you live on an island I don’t think there’s any way to get away from sex offenders any more. Unless of course we actually give them longer sentences and actually keep them in jail. We just keep letting them out to hurt others.

what i always wonder about– remember how Ron was on the 911 call?
why is he now acting all mellow when it comes to Misty and her playing dumb act?

i’ve always felt it was someone that knew Misty was out of the house that night and went straight to the house to get Haleigh.

if she would just say, ‘ok, i lied, i left the house thinking the kids would be ok’

then that would end all this bullshit so she can then tell them who knew she was out of the house.

Could he be covering up for someone? It did sort of ring true to me, his reasction on that very first night. Maybe he has learnt something since that makes it imperative to him that nobody discover the truth? What might that be?

Although investigators said these latest private tests indicated Misty Cummings is withholding vital information, Ronald Cummings said he stands by his wife.

“My feelings are we need to find my daughter,” Ronald Cummings said. “I don’t think she has any information that will help find Haleigh.”

Misty and Ronald Cummings say they hoped Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch was going to help them find their missing daughter, Haleigh.

But, instead, they claim he took them out of town and tricked them the week of Aug. 20.

In a one-on-one interview, Misty and Ronald Cummings talked to WJXT-TV, an NBC affiliate in Jacksonville.

“He called on the phone and said I’m going to take you to Orlando to get you away because your days are numbered. and I said OK,” Misty Cummings said.

But Miller said he only offered to take them away from the stresses in Putnam County.

“I asked if they wanted to get away for a couple of days … let their heads clear out and stuff,” said Miller, whose organization helps search for missing persons.

The Cummings said Miller told them not to bring their cell phones, and Misty Cummings said she was pressured to take voice analysis and polygraph tests.

But Miller said she begged him to take those tests and the hypnosis was her idea.

Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch told First Coast News this week, “Ron may be saying that now.”

Miller said Ronald Cummings told him, as well as Orlando-based attorney Mark NeJame, about two weeks ago that he doubted Misty’s story about the night Haleigh disappeared.

Miller told First Coast News, “Ronald’s statement right then was, ‘The b**** has something to do with Haleigh’s disappearance.’”

Miller said Ronald Cummings also told him, “She’s lying.”

Miller said, NeJame asked Ronald Cummings, “Why did you marry her? [Ronald] said, his exact words were, ‘You keep your friends close and your enemies closer.’”

NeJame told First Coast News he would not comment on private conversations, but he added, “Whatever Miller says, you can take it to the bank.”

What’s the A/C repairman saying?? My belief is that Misty decided to pay the repair bill in her own way, if ya catch my drift? Brother and cousin knew this, she’s out, returns home just in time to beat Ronny there. No telling who else knew, depends on where she was during her outing… Could be the A/C guy overheard her say she was leaving after putting the kids to bed. I’m sure the Investigators have looked thoroughly at all theories!
Now, if she admits to being gone, when Haleigh disappeared, will they not charge her with 2 counts of child endangerment? A confession is not gonna happen, she may be dumb as a rock, but she’s not self-sacrificing!

Tim Miller of Equusearch has said Ronald Cummings told him if he had $35,000, he could get his daughter back.

So Miller said he got a friend of his in Texas to cut him a check for that exact amount.

Haleigh vanished Feb. 9 from her Satsuma home.

Ronald Cummings’ lawyer said that revelation is news to him and no one has given him any check.

A Texas businessman has offered $35,000 in response to a claim that Haleigh Cummings could be found for that price.

The money, in the form of a check to Haleigh’s father, Ronald, was offered Wednesday by Cypress, Texas, businessman Roy Moffitt, according to Tim Miller, director of the Texas-based search organization EquuSearch.

Miller said the figure was cited in a voice mail he received Tuesday from Cummings’ father-in-law Hank Croslin.

Missing Florida 5-Year-Old Spotted in Massachusetts Wal-Mart;;;;;;;;;;;;;;September 8, 2009 Bombshell tonight. To Abington, Massachusetts.

In the last 72 hours, a credible sighting of 5-year-old Haleigh at a local Wal-Mart in a shopping cart with an adult pushing the cart. Florida police head north to Massachusetts for hours of questioning the brother, the brother of baby- sitter-turned-stepmom Misty Croslin, this the same brother who lives in the area of this sighting, also the brother in town when Haleigh goes missing. Phone records confirm multiple calls between Croslin and the brother when Haleigh disappears.

Breaking news in the case of missing 5-year-old Florida girl Haleigh Cummings, who disappeared from her own home in the middle of the night. Has there been a sighting of little Haleigh at a Wal- Mart in Massachusetts?

Meanwhile, Florida authorities have confirmed they are in Massachusetts conducting interviews in the case. Among those interviews is reportedly Misty Croslin`s brother, Timothy Croslin.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Timothy and his wife moved up there a couple months ago for economic reasons. And maybe there was something that has come out in some other line of questioning that has led them to make contact with him.

Now, you know, you`ve got to take this sighting with a box of salt. But so far, it has not been disproved. What was seen?

T.J. HART, WSKY 97.3 FM: What was allegedly seen here is that the young girl was in a shopping cart being pushed by an adult. It`s not been determined yet, from what we`ve been able to find out, whether that adult was male or female

The latest news reports out of Palatka, Florida indicate that the body of Haleigh Cummings who disappeared Feb. 10 from her father’s Satsuma home in the predawn hours was not found in a lake dredged Friday evening. Major Gary Bowling of the
Haleigh Cummings Body Not Found; Lake Drained, to Be Searched This Weekend Putnam County Sheriff’s Office told WAWS that a search would be conducted in the area of the drained lake during the weekend.

Bowling also stated that the discovery of a suspicious item during the uprooting of marijuana plants in a field Friday did not relate to the Haleigh Cummings investigation.

Earlier reports by First Coast News Friday repeated the claims of several viewers that Haleigh Cummings’ body had been recovered. Haleigh’s father Ronald Cummings denied any knowledge of his daughter’s body being found when questioned by a First Coast News reporter. Cummings said he had spoken with Haleigh’s mother Crystal Sheffield concerning the reports.

PCSO investigators interviewed Misty Croslin Cummings’ brother Hank (Tommy) Croslin, Jr. (who was recently jailed on grand theft charges involving the theft of a gun from a neighbor) and 3 other inmates of the Putnam County Jail last night concerning Haleigh Cummings’ disappearance. Misty Croslin Cummings, then Ronald Cummings’ girlfriend and now his wife, was the last person to see Haleigh before her disappearance.

Investigators denied learning anything about Haleigh’s disappearance from Hank Croslin, Jr. when questioned by Channel 4’s Jim Piggott Thursday night. Hank’s wife Lindsy was questioned by police Friday morning. The sheriff’s office described the interviews of Hank and Lindsy Croslin as “nothing out of the ordinary.”

The identity of the other inmates questioned and any possible relationship between those interviews and today’s draining of a Palatka lake has not been made public.

The search for Haleigh Cummings while unsuccessful in finding the little girl has uncovered baskets upon baskets of Cummings and Croslin family dirty laundry both literally and figuratively, with Hank Croslin, Jr. the latest to be plucked from the pile for public airing.
