Jefferson, Wisconsin Babies love movement. It seems to calm them when nothing else seems to. Perhaps it is a ride in the car that does the trick, perhaps one of those swings that run on batteries and a timer. It could be, the only thing to quiet a cranky baby is setting them in their infant carrier/car seat and rocking them gently with your foot as you use your free hands to pop nerve pills into your mouth as though they’re candy. It seems all of these crutches were thought up so parents didn’t spend hours pacing back and forth with a screaming baby in their ears, stiffening up one moment and scrunching up their knees the next, making it a not-so-pleasant introduction to parenthood. Nonetheless, no matter what source of movement you employ to soothe your child, I doubt seriously a single one of you would dream of the extreme resourcefulness Michael Wey exercised: a little swinging into the wall action.

Michael Wey
Michael Wey’s mother stated he dropped his 4 month-old son off for her to watch while he went to his friend’s house to inquire about an employment opportunity and while his wife, baby Nikolai’s mother was at work. When Michael arrived to retrieve his son, the baby’s paternal grandmother said her son was playful with the child despite claiming he had been drinking. She offered the shuttle services of her other son, since Michael had been drinking but Michael refused. Her next contact with Michael was in the form of a phone call at 3:30 am.
Eliana Wey returned home from work at about 2:10 am as her husband was coming out of Nikolai’s room. About 45 minutes later, Michael said something to her about the baby acting weird. As she went to check on him, she found a limp and bruised child who appeared to not be breathing. Eliana started CPR and they made the collective decision to take the baby to the hospital. NOT CALL THE MEDICS. They did place a call to Michael’s mother and to a neighbor asking for transportation assistance. What I mean is: the neighbor transported momma and baby to the hospital, Michael drove himself…a bit behind them. He “locked himself out of the house”. Sure. That would be my concern as well.
Hospital officials notified the police when Nikolai was brought to the hospital and when Michael left to go home, the authorities were there to greet him. “Now guys, just so you don’t freak out, I want you to know that after this happened, I punched the wall a couple of times because I was so mad that this had happened.” Yes, this was the explanation for the cracks (multiple) in the wall…the ones made when Michael allegedly threw his 4 month-old into the wall thus falling into his crib. Kind of like playing a game of basketball.
Since little Nikolai has died, officials are looking to change the charges against Michael from physical child abuse, intentionally causing great bodily harm to possibly first-degree intentional homicide.
