Thursday afternoon sources told NewsChannel 4 that a warrant was issued to search the church, and to gain access to a MySpace account that belongs to a rock band that was in town during the murder.
Because the warrant is sealed officials from OSBI can’t talk about the details, but are confident about solving this case.

“This is a murder case (and) we are not in a hurry we want to do everything correctly and put together all of the right information on any possible suspects because when it goes to trial we want to make sure we have the right person,” said spokesperson Jessica Brown.

I’m in the band that they are looking at. We are called Napalm Reign. The fact that they are looking at us is totally ridiculous. Yes, we have some suggestive lyrics that talk about Satan. A 61-year-old pastor who was killed in a rural Oklahoma church was found lying behind the altar with her arms outstretched, a source close to the investigation told CNN.

It was one of the latest details to emerge in the killing of Carol Daniels, whose nude body was found in the Christ Holy Sanctified Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma, in a crime scene the district attorney described as “horrific.”

Diagrams in the autopsy notes show Daniels suffered injuries to the side and back of her neck, her back and her left breast. She also suffered wounds to her hands, a typical spot for defensive wounds resulting from attempts to ward off an attack.

In addition, the autopsy notes say a portion of Daniels’ hair appeared singed or burned. The medical examiner classified her death as a homicide.

My condolences to the Daniels’ family. It’s one thing to lose a loved one to murder, but to then have the murderer use their body in some twisted mind fuck is pretty damned low.

ANADARKO, Oklahoma — About 200 friend, families and those wanting to pay respect gathered in Anadarko to pay tribute to a woman whose life was cut tragically short.

The Greater First Baptist Church of Anadarko was overflowing with people offering prayer and support to the family of Pastor Carol Daniels at a vigil Friday night.

Pastor Daniels often came to help out at the Greater First Baptist Church, in addition to her own. That’s just one of the reasons why Kym Pendarvis, who organized the vigil, said the congregation wanted to honor her and celebrate her life.

“The most fatal injuries are those around her neck,” said Manion, who analyzed the report at the request of the AP. “I would say, based on the fact that both sides of the neck have major wounds associated with them, that she would be nearly decapitated.”

Slices on both of Daniels’ hands are classic defensive wounds and indicate the attacker used some kind of knife, Manion added.

“She was putting her hands up to try and confront her assailant,” he said.

Several large gashes to Daniels’ chest, along with stab wounds to her stomach and back, likely were inflicted after her death, Manion said, relying on notations written in hand on the report.

Investigators have said that whoever killed Daniels posed her body in an unnatural position, or “staged” it, but have declined to elaborate. The staging of the body is extremely rare, Manion said, and usually means the killer either wanted to thwart investigators or shock whoever discovered the body.

“It’s something to repel and nauseate people, something very shocking to try and upset people investigating the crime,” he said.

Police have not said if any items were missing from Daniels or the church, but Manion said it’s unlikely the killing was a burglary gone bad. The nature of Daniels’ wounds indicates that the killer likely knew her and was enraged, Manion said.

“In the case of a robbery … he’s not going to hang around and keep slashing at her, stabbing her over and over, and take time to stage the body,” he said.

Authorities, who have released no information on possible suspects, are asking the FBI for help. Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said Friday police hope the agency’s experts in fields like behavioral science can help solve the grisly killing.

Brown also said she’s unaware of any evidence that Daniels was sexually assaulted.

Jack Levin, a professor of sociology and criminology at Northeastern University in Boston, said that the body was more than likely staged because “the killer wants the notoriety,” Levin said. “He knows that by staging the victim’s body, that it will freak out a population of people, terrify them. He intends to do it again and wants credit for what he’s done.”

And that’s precisely why it should NOT be publicized – because it is what “he” wants. Of course, then he will do it again, but I think he’s probably going to do that anyway, and he might be pissed off about not getting the publicity he wants to screw up somehow and get caught. We can always hope.

My sympathies to the Daniels family. I hope they get this monster soon.

I realise why they need to keep the details to themselves, but this was predictable.

I do think it is terrible that she appears to have been targeted for her calling. It will affect her family and her parishioners for a long time. I hope they all manage to keep an even keel through this storm of rumours.
