Orlando, FL- On August 11, 4-month-old Ashley Diaz was rushed to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children for unknown reasons. An hour later a doctor pronounced the little girl dead. The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined exactly how Ashley died, but investigators believe her mother, 21-year old Katie Furtaw, may have that answer. You see, little Ashley’s body was covered in what appeared to be bite marks. There were bite marks on both her upper arms, both sides of her neck, her left elbow, her left inner thigh and her right upper thigh. Ashley also had a bruise above one of her eyes.

When investigators first asked Furtaw about her daughter’s injuries, she said she never noticed any marks and knew nothing about them. Days later, police asked her again in a second interview how Ashley got her injuries, Furtaw changed her story and said she occasionally “nibbles” on the baby in a “playful manner.” On Friday, police once again asked Furtaw to explain her daughter’s injuries and the bitch cried and again said she playfully nibbled on her daughter. Furtaw admitted that she had seen the bite-marks, but didn’t think they were serious. Detectives continued to question Furtaw’s bullshit explanations and that was when she began crying hysterically and finally admitted to biting the child out of frustration.  Fucking Bitch!

Furtaw said Ashley would not stop crying after she was fed and had her diaper changed. She told the investigators that she did not know how to deal with it and bit her daughter out of frustration between 5 and 10 times. The Medical Examiner’s office may take several more weeks to determine the cause of Ashley’s death. Meanwhile, her bitch of a mother was arrested for aggravated child abuse and then released from the Orange County jail after posting $5,000 bond. Reporters have attempted to reach Furtaw, but the phone number listed in her arrest report is conveniently no longer in service.

    There are so many things I’d like to say to what was written in that article and things said by the grandmother. But…eh….it’s pointless.

    The great thing is, mentally disabled, unemployed Furtaw is only 21 years old and has years and years and years of not working and popping out little victims. Ain’t life grand..

    This just sickens me to no end.. I mean, I can’t even BEGIN to imagine how much this poor defenceless baby must have suffered at her hands. How on earth do these monsters do these things? How can you honestly look at the face of a child and even have harmful thoughts enter your mind?.. I hope she doesn’t die right away.. I hope she suffers every single day of the rest of her life.

    That’s just sick. When my daughter was in daycare she got bit a few times, the marks were crazy and I always felt horrible. I can’t imagine bites all over this poor baby’s body and only being 4 months old.

    According to some news reports, Fred Diaz, the father of Ashley, called 911, to report her not breathing, Could Diaz not see bite marks? Bruising above her eye? Diaz is responsible,too! If Diaz did nothing to protect Ashley!

    “I think it could have been avoided,” said Deleon, adding it was a terrible loss of life. He said the couple also has another child who is around 5 year’s old. The baby’s father told investigators that he had minimal contact with the infant and that Furtaw was the primary caregiver.

    State drops charge against woman accused of biting baby

    Four-month-old Ashley Diaz appeared to have human bite marks on her body when she died this summer.

    But authorities decided they could not prove it, leading prosecutors this week not to pursue a criminal case against the girl’s mother, Katie Furtaw.

    Furtaw, 21, told investigators in August that she bit Ashley out of frustration when she wouldn’t stop crying. Orlando police arrested her on an aggravated child abuse charge.

    Earlier this week, the State Attorney’s Office sex-crime and child-abuse unit closed the case, deciding not file charges against her.

    SAO spokesman Randy Means said a medical examiner and a forensic odontologist, who examines teeth, could not determine the cause of death or the source of the injuries.

    The odontologist reported that the evidence was “suggestive of biting” but there was “insufficient proof” of the cause, Means said.

    “We couldn’t prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt,” he said.
