Calva Haskell, 15, Accused Of Stabbing And Torching Ex-Girlfriend, 14

Clermont, FL – Writing a story about some asshole setting his current/ex girlfriend on fire is nothing new – sadly enough, it happens more than one might think it would. What is shocking about this particular story is not only the violence of the act, but the ages of the parties involved – just 14 and 15-years-old. Calva Haskell, 15, is accused of stabbing 14-year-old Taylor Mack several times before squirting some kind of flammable liquid on her and setting her on fire. At about 5:30 Wednesday morning, Taylor snuck out of her house to meet and talk with Calva, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend. The topic of the conversation is unknown, but, shortly after the two met, Taylor was running to a neighbor’s home screaming for help. After the attack, Calva returned home, where he was later arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Calva has no previous criminal history, is said to be a popular kid, and is active in school and sports. What the fuck happened in this kid’s brain to set him off like that? Authorities don’t have a motive as of yet, but, friends of both kids seem to think it’s because Calva had moved on after the relationship, had already hooked up with another girl, and was upset that Taylor still had feelings for him. Officials report that Taylor is listed in serious condition – the details and extent of her injuries are unknown. I’ll update this story as more details become available.

Hope they treat him as an adult and he learns his lesson or some other poor girl/woman will pay the price.

Maybe Calva arranged the meeting to do exactly what he did. He did bring the knife and the flammable liquid to the pre-arranged meeting. Sounds like Attempted First Degree Murder to me, plus Arson. Maybe Taylor has something on him and the meeting was to silence her.

    Just speculating here.

He probably got beat at playing Halo one too many times and had to take it out on someone. Poor girl these kids are pretty violent these days I mean seriously what kid gets that mad to burn up his girl he isn’t really even old enough to know what heart ache is yet.

The fact that he’s popular in school doesn’t surprise me in the least. The most popular kids are frequently the meanest and most ruthless, and often seem to be under the impression that they can do what they want, whenever they want, and to whomever they want, with little to no consequences.

    Stupid little asshole.

He had moved on, – yet he is the one who attacks and disfigures her?

    Does not compute…….

This is very true I hated school but I loved being a kid. My worst memories of my childhood include popular kids at school. I remember this kid everyone picked on especially the popular kids he ended up getting leukemia and before he died guess who showed up at his last birthday party those popular kids that made his childhood hell looking for redemption. Twofaced little brats they aren’t much better human beings as adults either trust me I live in a small town I know.

Wow. Lots of popular-kid hate around here.

I don’t think popular kids are, per capita, any better or worse than the rest. I just think that, when they are heinous, it gets more attention because they were popular.

If I had to take a guess, I’d say this has less to do with him being popular at school and more to do with being over-indulged at home. It could be neither, though – kid may just be a sociopath. But, you’d be amazed by the extremes at which children act when they do not have structure and consistent discipline at home.

Unbelieveable. How does a 15 year old even think of doing something like this?

At 15, I’d only just learned how to kiss (with lips closed!). Also being raised in a small town, girls could get a bad reputation just by dating too many different guys… really! To be popular in our school, you had to be both smart and good-looking. So, this guy wasn’t that smart… I’m guessing he was just good-looking.
