Harrington, DE- Around 5:30 a.m. on August 12, police responded to a residence to investigate a disorderly conduct complaint. At the scene, they found a slightly intoxicated 23-year old woman named Erin Boone banging on the door of the residence. When the officers told Boone to put her hands behind her head, she turned toward one of the officers, whipped out a 4-inch butterfly knife, and told the officers that she was not going to be arrested. After a brief struggle, Boone was in custody and officers discovered 18 Xanax pills in her possession. Once Boone was placed in the patrol car, she kicked out the rear passenger window and struck an officer who tried to stop her, which caused a minor injury to his arm and hand.
What was the reason for this hellcat’s fury? Well, she was in love and the object of her affection was a 14-year old boy that she had been caught bumping uglies with earlier this month. For obvious reasons, the boy’s mother had put a stop to the relationship and called the police when Boone made her early morning arrival. Boone was slapped with a heap of charges which were possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, fourth-degree rape, second-degree assault to a law enforcement officer, aggravated menacing, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest with force, possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts criminal mischief under $1,000, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal trespass. Her bond was set at $19,000.
The police were not aware of the sexual relationship between Boone and the boy until they arrested her on August 12, which makes me wonder…If Boone had been a man and the 14-year old had been a girl, would the mother still have waited until the perp was banging on her door at 5:30 a.m. to report the sexual abuse to the police? I think not.
