It Was All A Lie!

Paducah, KY- Like many parents, it just kills me when my kids get sick. Every time, I wish I could whip out a magic wand and make their aches and pains disappear. I cannot even begin to imagine the enormous amount of helplessness some parents feel when they learn their child has a tragic illness and may die. The courage and strength it takes for them to somehow get through each day without breaking down amazes me. In January, Karen Clark informed a news crew at the Ronald McDonald House at Kosair Children’s Hospital that her 12-year old daughter was dying of cancer. “We’ve been here at least every month since last January,” said Karen Clark to the reporter. “It’s been a hard road but she’s making it. very positive so we do okay with it.”

Everyone who knew Clark…friends, family, grandparents, and even members of their church believed her daughter was dying. Hell, even her daughter believed it because her mother told her she was. Clark explained to the reporters that she was a single mom who could not work because of all the care her daughter needed. That was when the monetary gifts started pouring in. Her daughter’s Sunday School raised nearly $1000 dollars and some people paid her rent and utilities. But it was all a lie. A lie so extreme that the Bitch informed several people that her daughter’s care was palliative and that hospice was going to be called in. Clark even called some people about participating in the child’s funeral.
It was a police officer who had to inform Clark’s daughter and her daughter’s grandparents that she was not dying of cancer. Officers confronted Clark on July 30 and she confessed that it was all a story that she made up to get attention. She denied doing it for money, but she did accept the monetary gifts. She said that it was just a small lie that grew into a bigger one. The lie started when her daughter had gone to Kosair Children’s Hospital for some tests and that’s when she began telling people the girl had cancer. Kosair cannot disclose any information about the girl’s medical condition other than the child did not have cancer and is not terminal. The Ronald McDonald House was not aware of the situation either and found out when they were notified by reporters. Clark is now charged with a felony that could carry 5 years in prison and police say more charges may come as they discover more people who donated money to the lying Ham-witch.

People like this disgust me. During our lifetime we all hear about or know someone who is in a horrible situation and actually need help. We try our best to help them, but people will always second guess something because of fake assholes like this who ruin it for the real troopers trying to keep their family together! ARGH!

That poor kid. I hope she has some serious help over the coming months. She could develop some real problems about dealing with genuine illnesses.

Jury, somehow I don’t think any time is a good time for this particular, uh, “lovely” woman to have her picture taken. At least, it’s not a good time for the people who have to look at it!
That poor kid, she will be totally screwed up from this and unable to trust anyone…I mean, in her mind, if her own mother can lie to her face like that, why not everyone else?

Munchausen by proxy?
Poor girl, poor family.
A few years ago a friend was taken in by a woman posing as a holocaust survivor. Very convincing, very emotional, very tight web of lies, which wouldn’t have held up under a bright light if you hadn’t already been reeled in and weren’t heavily invested emotionally. My friend later found out that this woman was a known, if lesser, holocaust poser who specialized in fooling a few people at a time. The poser had never been out of the USA and wasn’t born until after the war. What a world!
I don’t understand what someone like that gets out of the deception, prolly not money, but this woman was not above accepting “help” or plane tickets, etc.

sadly, this is becoming an all too familiar story. it is the humanity in us that wants to help others… so in the balance of things, of course there’ll be some that abuse that.
i used to always try to help others.. would give almost anyone a ride, if they asked…. would allow people to crash at my place…etc. Got burned too many times to count… it’s sad that it’s made me so jaded towards helping my fellow man/woman..
Btw, when i first saw the picture, i thought she was a dude. i had to look twice.

To BriarRose – That’s exactly what it sounds like. Munchausen by Proxy is a disorder in which a person deliberately causes injury or illness to another person, usually to gain attention or some other benefit.

Munchausen is just a ‘tag’ used by people who refuse to believe that people can actually be ‘evil’. I for one, reject the endless medical afflictions evil individuals use in court to attempt to deny or accept responsibility for their criminal deeds; Hell, it’s a freaking Shopping List! The first clue to such a scam is when the perp makes the “claim” of mental illness; real crazy people don’t know they are crazy!

Physically I mean…because obviously she’ll be emotionally scarred. When I think of munchausen by proxy, I think of the dumb bitch who put feces in her daughter’s feeding tube.

This isn’t “Munchausen’s by Proxy,” because of the lack of actual physical harm done. It is, however, an act of laziness, heinous greed, and outright fraud. Now the people of the State of Kentucky will probably be picking up the tab for the daughters’ long-term therapy.
