What Did Nathaniel Hester Do To His Child?

Dalton, GA - The details are sparse, but the 911 call is chilling – one-month-old Piper Hester’s mother, Kristen Hester, can be heard screaming in anguish as she tried to save the life of her baby. Kristen called 911 at 3:28 a.m. Sunday after finding her husband passed out on the floor and the child next to him, bloodied and not breathing – in that call, she could be heard blaming the child’s father, Nathaniel Hester, for injuring the child. “Nathan why the fuck is she bleeding, why do you have her blood on you, You mother-fucker, I’m gonna kill you, you’re going to jail, why are you bleeding, Nathan you killed her.” Later in the call, Kristen could be heard saying, “What are you high on, you’re going to jail, I’m not high on anything.” When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found that Piper was dead and Nathaniel had fled the scene.

An autopsy on Piper’s body revealed that every single one of her ribs on one side of her little body were broken, she had a large skull fracture and a broken leg. The cause of death – blunt force trauma to the head and torso. “It was the worst abuse I’ve ever seen of a child,” said coroner Bobbie Dixon. What the hell did he do to that child?

About an hour after emergency crews arrived at the house, Nathaniel returned, he was intoxicated. When he attempted to enter the home, he was tased. (You don’t know how badly I wish I could replace the word ‘tased’ with the words ‘shot dead’). Both parents were taken in for questioning – Kristen was released, Nathaniel was arrested. He has been booked on charges of cruelty to children, murder, and obstruction of justice. Bond was denied. Authorities believe drugs and alcohol may have been a factor in the baby’s death.

That 911 call is so heartbreaking, I could feel the pain,confusion and desperation in Kristines voice. My prayer for her:
Heavenly Father, with as little pain as possible for the victims Mom and family. Provide a peaceful heart for those whose lives have been permanently altered by this abuser. Provide Kristine with the strength she needs to get through this tragedy with a sound state of mind. Provide her with insight, to know that one day she will hold Piper Hayden in her arms eternal, until then, You will.

I find it disturbing that almost everyone here assumes that Nathan murdered his child. Here’s the fact as of now: No one really knows what happened. Could have been an accident, could have been intentional, could have been the mother. There are a lot more details to hear and it’s way too early to even start pointing fingers. What happened to innocent til proven guilty? Do any of you really no what happened? Were you there?

Gee Lynn, it’s only every month you see some crazy postpartum bitch killing her kids. You don’t think she’s capable of framing her husband? What if she didn’t want the baby? What if she wanted out of the marriage and away from the baby? How do you even know that it was intentional? If he did kill her, it could have very well have been an accident. They were both drunk as hell that night. I’m just saying that people are very quick to point fingers when they know absolutely nothing about what happened, except for the fact that she did a good job of blaming him on the 911 call. Did you happen to hear Nathan in the background? Mom is screaming her fucking head off in obvious terror – and Nathan just says (and I can HEAR the slurring in his words) “I’m not high on anything”. Then the fucking coward takes off.

I only care that a 1 month old child is DEAD and only 1 parent called 911. Only 1 parent gave CPR. Only 1 parent stayed till the cops and paramedics arrived. That 1 parent wasn’t your buddy Nathan.

He also tried to perform CPR but Kristen told him to get away from the child. Kristen gave CPR for over 8 minutes. She pounded so hard that you could hear it over the phone. Is it not possible that the ribs were broken during CPR????? Seriously – 30 chest compressions repetivitely for over 8 minutes.

Before she yells at him to get away, you can hear Nathaniel knocking things down (sounded heavy to me) and she yells that he is going to topple something on top of them, besides it is blatantly obvious Nathan is not coherent as he tries to speak with the 911 operator (after Kristen puts the phone down)and were I in that situation, I certainly wouldn’t allow an intoxicated person to perform CPR on any infant, especially the person who caused the fatal harm to begin with, please do not tell me that you would either!
How any one could listen to Kristens cries and spout that she could possibly be at fault, is asinine to say the least. I feel her terror and anguish every time, that is at the beginning of the 911 call and throughout, It is heartbreaking for me, no way I can imagine what Kristen is experiencing. No way!

He never actually tried anything. He was in a drunken stupor the whole fucking time. Anyone who has ever lived around a drunk for any period of time can tell he was shitfaced. People like that also tend to be a bit more melodramatic. He was getting his ass reamed by his wife! She was threatening him with jail. He also sounded like he was ransacking the place. Seriously… you believe what you wrote? You weren’t hearing her compressing on the chest – you were hearing the phone “thump” against her shoulder every time she moved! Try it sometime. Put the phone on your shoulder and then pantomime giving CPR. Your shoulder will move up and down.. and the person on the other end will hear the “thump” every time it does. Jeezus – you make it sound like she was punching this infant to give compressions! She did NOT do the damage that was done to this baby’s ribs by doing compressions. And, even if she DID break a rib – her chest compressions didn’t fracture the baby’s skull.

When a judge orders “No Bail”, it is pretty-much a damn good clue that the evidence points at the defendant’s guilt… Hello! You really need to get your facts straight. Nathaniel’s bond was not denied. His attorney did not request bond but asked for the bond hearing to come at a later date so that he could gather more evidence.

@ bg8717 Another tip for ya, Nathan WAS denied bond on Monday, so knotme was correct in that post! Maybe you should get YOUR facts more STRAIGHT before you come in blasting someone else….just sayin’

Nathaniel Hester had DUIs in July of 2000 and August of 2004, according to a jail spokesman. He was denied bond by Magistrate Judge Sidney Baxter at the jail on Monday. A jail spokesman said he may appear in Superior Court on Friday for another bond hearing.

I suspect Nathans attorney, Chris Townley, realizes that the DA, at this point in the investigation, would’ve requested, AGAIN, no bond or an amount that couldn’t be obtained easily, smart move for Townley to have made!

That story was dated on Monday Aug 3rd – on Friday Aug. 7, Townley requested more time to gather evidence and requested a bond hearing at a later date. That request was GRANTED!!!

“District Attorney Kermit McManus said a plea agreement was reached that allowed Hester not to face the felony murder charge if he pleaded to the lesser charge. Judge Cindy Morris sentenced Hester to 18 years in prison and two years on probation.”
