Kathryn Arcana Wanted The Money

West Hartford, CT– Not a baby-beater, but this one really got my blood boiling. On July 24, police arrested 40-year old Kathryn Arcana, a worker at the American School for the Deaf, and charged her with first-degree larceny after receiving a complaint that she had extorted money from a learning-disabled, hearing-impaired co-worker. Apparently, it all began last December when Arcana borrowed money from the co-worker after she told him she had lost her wallet. Seeing an easy mark, Arcana became greedy and decided to make the man her own  personal ATM machine. She began sending him e-mails from her Blackberry demanding money she said she needed for rent, car repairs, and and other expenses because “her cousin had stolen money from her.”

Arcana sent about 70 e-mails to the guy in April and May of this year and claimed that the police and Govenor M. Jodi Rell would arrest him and his mother if he didn’t pay her. An e-mail, sent on May 23, said “OK, must pay today. They say if not then they will arrest your mother. I told them that you will get money, they said ok. They are serious. Please? Rell called me and said must pay 250 today because she reduced the cost and agreed with detectives. Rell did not want to get any more fine again.”

Not knowing any better, the frightened victim cashed his paychecks and began meeting Arcana at a motel or restaurant in Rocky Hill to give her the money. It was not until he ran low on cash that he finally told his family about the situation. With the assistance of a sign language interpreter and his family, the police were able to take his complaint. They learned that Arcana had extorted as much as $10,000 from him. Kathryn Arcana was charged with first-degree larceny and is now free on a $10,000 non-surety bond. It is unknown if she still works at the school and what job she had. I really wish I could of found a mugshot of this cunt. Anyone who takes advantage like that of someone with a learning disability just really pisses me off and deserves public shaming along with some jail time.
