Carlos Acosta and Davon Gordon Are On The Right Track

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey - This story sounds like a scene right out of Death Wish 3. Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, witnesses observed Carlos Acosta and Davon Gordon, both 18-years-old, beating a 29-year-old woman unconscious, stripping her of her clothes and sexually assaulting her. People who saw the attack also stated that the pair turned on a Good Samaritan when he tried to intervene, beating him until the bones in his face were broken. The duo took off not knowing that they had been captured on surveillance video and were apprehended a few blocks away with the victim’s blood all over their clothes.

Witnesses described the brutal attack, saying the two teens grab the woman, slam her head repeatedly on the pavement and kick her before removing her clothing and fondling her. When the 26-year-old man tried to stop them, the teens turned on the Good Samaritan and beat him pretty viciously. When police found him he was covered in blood suffering from a broken face and lacerations to the back of his head. The teens also robbed him of $20 and his ID.

Thankfully both victims survived the attack. The woman is in a coma at the Jersey City Medical Center. Both teen suspects have been arrested, held on $250,000 bail, and facing two charges of attempted murder as well as robbery and aggravated assault charges. One article is reporting that before the attack, the two teens may have been smoking marijuana that had been dipped in formaldehyde. When the two appeared in court, Gordon’s mother yelled to her son, “Keep your head up.”

Can you imagine living in a neighborhood so rough that a group of men felt confident enough to carry out such an attack on more than one person, with witnesses present? Watching the video above showing the neighborhood and some its inhabitants, I was waiting to catch glimpses of the Gramercy Riffs or the Baseball Furies hanging on the corner. You are right, Nadine, Marijuana usually just makes you hungry and mellow, but marijuana dipped in formaldehyde, is similar to being dipped in PCP and we’ve seen the horrible effects that has on the psyche!

You know, when I lived in the hood, cigarettes dipped in formaldehyde, also known as “wet”, were all the rage. We’d find little viles of it with stray tobacco at the bottom hanging out just beyond our porch. One day, a kid associated with the upstairs neighbors, a notorious “wet-head”, came into my apartment, sat down on the couch and would not leave. I had to go upstairs and get Peter to forcefully remove him from my home. But, yeah, I witnessed plenty a vicious fight caused by that stuff.

It’s still all the rage! Most of the teens that try it, reason that it’s a “safer” alternative to PCP! Not realizing it creates the same side effects as PCP! Formaldehyde or any chemical not meant to be ingested is dangerous to the brain and it’s the same as playing roulette with a one bullet gun put to your head…It’ll turn your head to mush, in a second!

I am so glad I live where I do. We have our share of crazy people, sure–but it’s nothing like this. I can remember when I was growing up, I’d say I’d be living in NYC as soon as I could, and then I became a mom. Now I am such a little country bumpkin it’s kind of pitiful.

Even though I would never be stupid enough to think I’m totally safe or that we can’t have any crazies or violence, I am still grateful that I don’t have to live in a state of constant certain fear, as I would in an area like the one featured in the story.

I hope the victims continue to heal, and I hope that the boys are put away for a very long time. Somehow, I can’t imagine that they’ll suddenly find some sort of maturity and ethic code.

Ai yi yi…I remember cruising around Parsippany NJ and the guys we were with holding “bones” out the windows waiting for the formaldehyde to dry. I was never stupid enough to smoke that shit. I wonder if it’s a big Jersey thing.

I can’t imagine trying to survive in a shithole neighborhood like that.

Little bastards, the good samaritan should have located a makeshift weapon and come in swinging. The second and third dude would be a lot less likely to attack you if you just spilled their buddies brains on the curb.

I live not far from this carnage, only a few blocks away, in fact. This neighborhood is full of vermin like this. To the mom who told her aimalistic son to “keep his head up”, great job mom! I’m sure he was raised right, the same way all these other kids around here are raised. I see parents cursing their little children out, smackin them around on a daily basis, they treat their children like DIRT. that’s why these kids grow up like THIS. fathers who abandon them, welfare mothers who resent the hell out of their spawn. Most of the kids I see around here dont seem to have a chance in hell. There’s no excuse for monsters like this to ever be on the street again and their parents should be held accountable too. No doubt they WILL be back on the street in no time. Wonder how that mom would feel if it was her or her sister or mother who was attacked so viciously? Disgusting. The criminal justice system should step up and make an example of these animals. MAKE THE STREETS OF JERSEY CITY SAFER, HARDWORKING PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN ARE FED UP WITH THE LIKES OF THIS.

Mom telling her sorry-ass son to hold his head up… what’s with that? A little late for teaching the guy how to show character… duh! You know, I love my kids, but there is no way I would stand by him/her if they had done something as evil as this to another human being. These doting parents should be apologizing to the victims and the community for what their sons did and stop putting on the pretentious show in front of the cameras that they are the type of parents who raised their kids right. Good parents KNOW what their kids are up to and good parents INTERVENE when they see their kid in trouble with drugs. The boys were 18 yrs old; how deaf, mute or blind are these parents not to see this coming?
