Pike County, Ohio If the amazing process of childbirth isn’t enough for some parents, it’s reassuring to know there are countless surprises around each corner. Every day there are subtle changes in babies as they start to get acclimated to their bodies and new surroundings. Six weeks is one of the first pivotal milestone for these little ones. That’s when some semi-coordination comes in the sounds a baby makes. Instead of random noises, they start making more vowel sounds known as cooing…they can even start to push up a bit at six weeks. It’s important to stimulate your baby and at this “age” a parent can start to get a general feel for what arouses them and what annoys them. And had Todd Trent been cognizant of his girlfriend’s baby, he would have realized that 6 week old wasn’t aroused by the rat bites.

Acting on an anonymous tip, Sheriff deputies responded to a trailer owned by the infant’s mother’s aunt and found a six week old child with bite marks all over her body. A medical response team was called in and Leeann Lowe was taken to the hospital and is now listed in stable condition. The bite marks are consistent with rodent bites sustained “over a lengthy period of time.” And another bite consistent with a dog bite. And over a “lengthy period of time”…like 6 weeks, I wonder? County Prosecutor Rob Junk said, “I’ve seen autopsy photos of people that have died from bullet wounds, stab wounds and things like that. They weren’t nearly as hard to look at as the photos of the infant in this case.” I imagine. The worst of her bites occurred on her back and her left foot…so bad, two of her little toes had to be amputated. Children Services removed an undisclosed number of children from the house and placed them into protective custody. A couple of dogs were removed from the property and the Chihuahua, which is believed to have been the pet that also bit her, was placed into quarantine.
Todd C. Trent, (18 and the mother’s boyfriend) has been charged with child endangering, obstructing official business, and tampering with evidence. Two others, Joseph (33) and Tina Gunter (29), were charged with child endangerment in connection with the Leann’s condition. The Gunter’s are not related to the infant but live in the trailor as well, and the mother has not been charged at this time, although the authorities say additional arrests are possible.
Four adults in this trailer and not a single one of them tended to this tiny infant who was virtually being eaten alive by rodents. The rats gnawed her her feet so badly, two of those tiny toes had to be cut off. WTF?

When my kids were babes I noticed every mark on their body, how could you not?
Noticing bites, rat bites which I doubt you could confuse with insect bites, and doing nothing sends chills up my spine. That is so callous. GROSS! If I saw one nibble on my kid we’d be gone, or I would be standing guard over the child while she slept with some kind of rodent squasher. I’d be afraid to sleep at night for fear of getting nibbled on myself.
This is one of the most repugnant things I have ever heard, and it is true!

Little Pea, I’m curious where the mother was as well. I can’t really believe charges haven’t been brought against her – all the other adults have been charged. And yeah, there’s no mistaking a rodent bite vs. insect. But to think this happened more than once – over a lengthy span of time. Hell, she’s only 6 weeks old. And they did nothing. Unfuckingbelievable.

I wouldn’t hate you – I just wouldn’t trust you any time soon. I mean, you were totally aware when you got the tattoo that you were aligning yourself with a stereotypically *bad* faction of society, right? That you were essentially branding yourself “hood”?
Have you even walked through an incarceration facility? Doesn’t matter – male, female, co-ed… You’d be amazed by how many inmates have neck tattoos. I’ve never met anyone with a neck tattoo who DOESN’T have at least one felony on their record. Does that mean that they don’t exist? No… but it does give me reason to be suspicious.
Getting certain types of tattoos isn’t like being born with a specific skin color or being raised in a specific neighborhood. It is a conscious action that associates you with certain elements of society. “Tramp stamps”, neck tattoos, Old English tattoos, lightening bolts… these all conjure up pretty specific stereotypes. Even if you don’t fit that stereotype, if you go out of your way to associate yourself with that stereotype, you’re going to suffer the consequences.
Why do you think most employers frown upon such tattoos? If they were nothing more than harmless self-expressions, that wouldn’t be the case. But they’re not. They’re signs of what kind of person you consider yourself to be.
That’s why I have no tattoos. People change, and I don’t want to be pigeon-holed.

Since this asshat holds the record for charges against him, plus the fact he’s the mother’s boyfriend, he won top billing.

NO actually like stated before I was serving my COUNTRY so those types of comments usually come from close minded people. I have never been judge and if I have been, it’s people that are so stupid to believe that having a tattoo is having to be part of some type of illegal or criminal lifestyle and its not. I did it when I was younger and I dont regret it .

I have met numerous people with neck tattoos, one is my mother, that have neither a felony or any other criminal record. I have 3 tattoos myself…none on my neck but one on my right inner forearm…again…run a criminal background check…record is clean…not even a violation or parking ticket. It has also been my experience, thus my opinion mostly, that people with tattoos, have been more trustworthy and eager to lend a hand and less judgmental than those without. However, I am always judged myself even on here and that’s just because of a user name.

Fact: Tattoos on the side or front of the neck are specifically associated with criminal activity. If you have one and are NOT associated with criminal activity – what the hell were you thinking? Would you be as non-judgmental as you implore me to be if I was rockin’ some white power tattoo? I mean, sure, I knew I was associating myself with a specific faction of society but, you know, that doesn’t give you the right to judge… *rolls eyes*
Look – if you have a tattoo on the side of your neck, you get judged, period. The majority of the people featured on this site have two eyes on the front of their face. They made a conscious decision not to poke one out. I will never trust anyone with two eyes again. The majority of the people posted on this site are not bald. I will never trust anyone who has hair again. Actually in my short time here, I have not noticed the majority having neck tattoos, or any visible tattoos above the neck, I know this because you and various others have been quick to draw notice to them. For myself and my mother, and majority of those who have them. The tattoos we have on our bodies and their placement is a personal and meaningful choice. They mean something to us, they mean something to you. However, the only thing that matters is the former, the latter can be said to the inside of a garbage bag for all it matters to me. If you did go and get a swastika tattooed to your neck, yeah, i would instantly draw a conclusion about you, not because of the placement but because of the tattoo. You can have a tattoo across your forehead for all I care, it will not suddenly make me think you are a convict. My first question and thought would actually be..did it hurt? I know someone with a tattoo of a flaming skull on his skull. His hair covers it now. Not because of the tattoo but because he wanted to try a new look with hair. His job? A car salesman. His criminal record? Blank. That is what tattoos are and where the major meaning lies, not in the location but in the tattoo itself. My friend’s father was a bike enthusiast, that skull was on the back of his dads leather jacket. He got it before his dad died of lung cancer. His dad? though it was hilarious and helped him choose it and its placement. Say what you want. Part of this site. Stereotyping is wrong everywhere. I have seen alot of this site lately and in the beginning it was cool. No automatic judgments, no assumptions made without reports and facts, no judging of people based on race, sex, income or any of that. It is even written in the site rules. However, more and more I am seeing that is not the case and it is sad to me, I enjoyed it I really did. Majority of the members lately are disproving my initial beliefs however. Don’t get me wrong I have that “thick skin” that I was told to have. I am not crying in my corn flakes. I do always tell what I believe though. That’s really too bad that you feel that way, DJ. I would have expected you, of all people, to be able to respectfully disagree. My impression of you was clearly inaccurate.
Look, I understand where you’re coming from. I really do. Ultimately, my opinions of people are based on their individual merit. But, we, as human beings, developed the ability to “judge a book by its cover,” so to speak, for a very good reason. How people choose to portray themselves through makeup, clothing, tattoos, etc… TENDS to say something about them. Just like people fly flags to associate themselves with specific nations or organizations, people use style to associate themselves with specific factions of society.
When I was in high school, I chose to, through style, associate myself with the roughest crowd around at the time – the punk crowd. My ripped fishnets, spiked collars, chains and heavy makeup made a statement about me, but that statement was very inaccurate. I was a 4.0 student with a laundry list of academic accolates. Still, did I blame old people for crossing the road when I was coming down the sidewalk? Of course not.
In nature, animals adopt specific colors to warn preditors that they’re, say, poisonous. Other animals still adopt those same colors – even though they’re not poisonous – as a defense mechanism. Predators heed these colors, whether they’re accurate or not.
Similarly, if you’re an individual who adopts a style associated with stereotypically dangerous factions of society, you have to expect that people will heed that statement. Even though we don’t use it to ward off predators necessarily, the mechanism still works the same. It wards people off. It’s not about those people being stupid or you being stupid or anyone being stupid, it’s biologically-driven.
When I was in high school, I was okay with going above and beyond to prove to people that I was not as I appeared to be. I got a kick out of it. But I knew that, when I walked into a room, I was going to have to work harder toward people seeing the real me than the yuppie or the jock. Personally, I knew I wouldn’t want to put in that extra work every time I met a new group of people for the rest of my life, so I made nothing permanent.
People who get tattoos in certain locations are permanently committing themselves to going that extra mile to get people to know the real them. That’s certainly your choice, but I don’t believe for a minute that someone, especially someone as articulate as you, didn’t know what you were doing in that respect and can’t appreciate the very clear logic behind the judgments of others.
