Patricia Becht’s Fatal Family Plans

July 11, 2009 at 2:59 am by

St. Paul, Minnesota Unless you live under a rock with no television, radio, get no newspapers, etc. you’ve heard about the “King of Pop’s” timely demise. (oops, damn typos) The media’s coverage of crying/fainting hoards of people flocking to and fro to get a glimpse of the glitterati browsing for the appropriate clothing to wear, or perhaps the brothers shopping for one white sequined glove to carry his final chariot, has been enough to make me want to break my TV. The talk of a memorial service at the Neverland Ranch brought that 4 syllable location back into the forefront and young children asking their parents, “What’s Neverland?” And if any parents were like Patricia Becht, they tried to give a sense of peace while plotting the murder of their children at that very location.

Patricia Bechts Fatal Family Plans

Patricia Becht

Patricia Becht’s 16 year-old daughter attempted to phone her mother repeatedly to no avail but did make contact with Patricia’s niece and asked her to run by their home to check on her mother and 2 younger siblings. Upon arriving, the doors were locked and the niece gained entrance through an opened window. Even though Patricia had allegedly told her niece a few weeks prior that she was going to lock her children in the garage to kill them, I imagine her discovery left the next moments frozen in time. Michael, 10 and autistic was unconscious, Erica (11) was semiconscious, and their poor sick mommy Patricia was puking in the bathroom. And then the suicide note was found.

The suicide note, penned for her 16 year-old to discover along with the dead bodies of her mother, brother, and sister, said something to the order of, sorry – can’t take you with us…but we’ll be at peace and ‘happy to be gone’. Nice. I’m not real sure how Patricia thought this wouldn’t totally fuck her daughter up for life but at least she’s still around to think about that every day for the rest of hers…and I hope it eats her alive. She obviously failed the two children she promised to take with her as well. She had discussed the perfect place to die:  Neverland Ranch. She explained to them “Neverland was a place for kids to go – similar to heaven.” According to an interview conducted with Patricia, she discussed going to Neverland with her children as part of their suicide plan.

Little Michael was found dead in his home, Erica was rushed to the hospital where she is expected to recover. Neighbors witnessing the ugly turn of events said of Patricia, “They didn’t rush her off like they did the daughter.” According to the criminal complaint, Patricia gave each child 10 tablets of Seroquel, a medication used to treat bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. She dosed herself with 25 tablets of mommy’s little helper. (According to the manufacturer’s literature, Seroquel fatal overdoses are very rare) It’s sweet Patricia assisted in making Michael another statistic.

After interviewing Patricia Becht via her hospital visit, enough evidence was gleaned from her personal account (and evidence of pill bottles through the house) that authorities planned a welcome home party upon her release. I love it when police protect and serve. She was charged Friday with first-degree premeditated murder for the death of her son and with the attempted first-degree murder of her daughter. The judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation for Becht and set bail at $1 million without conditions or $750,000 with conditions. The evaluation is suppose to take place within the next 60 days. Fuck. She’ll plead insanity and everyone will buy it cause who in their right mind would plan to take their children to Neverland Ranch?

I was googling Patti this morning and found this site. I was a neighbor/friend of hers for years. This Bitch is seriously crazy!!! what would posses a mother to want to harm her kids?? She seemed normal when we hung out…she was kinda mean to the kids, always yelling at them. she had a drinking problem, took lots of pain meds but did I think the bich would harm her kids?? Hell NO! What Mother would. I have been following this story closely and I am so discusted! Our kids played together and poor lil Mikey is now gone. why could she had not taken her own life and left the poor kids alone????

I would bet the 16 year old is feeling some guilt at being told about the plan and not telling anyone or doing anything…at 16 she should have known she could talk to someone.

  • mommy

The 16 year old, not sure if I can say her name, had no clue and was not aware of the suicide plan. a neice who is 20 made a statment that a week or so before it happended Patti made a comment to her that she was gonna put the kids in the car in the garage and turn it on so they could all dies…at 20 she should have said something especially knowing Patti’s mental health status…But the whole family is all kinda “not all there”

  • cassidymarie83

Oh ok, then I take back my comment on the 16 year old, and now I’m pissed that a 20 year old knew shit wasn’t right and did nothing, now she can live with that guilt for the rest of her life.

I’m pissed that a 20 year old knew shit wasn’t right and did nothing

But in all fairness, who really would BELIEVE such a thing? I mean, if she outlined the plan in detail, sure. But if it was more like she was irritated with the children and said it, it might be less ominous.

Personally, I don’t say things like that, but I know lots of people who say “I could just KILL __whoever__” when they are pissed.

The fact that the niece mentioned it so quickly probably means she didn’t take it seriously. Who knows though? But I would give her the benefit of the doubt unless there is more information.

Actually, the 20 yr old might not have said anything, because she felt she wouldn’t be taken seriously. It happened 2 days ago to a friend of mine, the police blew him off. Actually told him maybe he should think twice before he got himself into that kind of situation again. He had threats of physical violence, had been the victim of vandalization, is being extorted and stalked. The only difference that I can see between this story and my friend is that there are children involved and therefore it should’ve been given a lot more weight, but I have witnessed all too often the disdain of the local law enforcement, until someone ends up dead. Oopsy daisy, that nasty history shows the ugly truth every time. If they’ve done it before, they’ll do it again, and someone has to be the “first” victim before there can be a second, oh joy!
Hearing things like “she was mean”, “had a drinking problem”, had threatened this before”, may or may not have been taken seriously.
Let’s pretend she DID say something. How many stories have we read on here about the EPIC FAILS of CPS, police officers, judges, lawyers, the entire damned system is full of people who don’t give a shit anymore about their jobs? They’re just putting in time before retirement, and letting people die in the meantime…
Once in a great while, we hear of a story where the system worked, which is great, but those people get treated like heroes. Hell’s bells, I guess they are compared to their co-workers in general, and I have no problem patting them on the back. I just want there to be a few more “heroes” out there.
I don’t have the answers, or the best way to fix this mess, but there has to be a way for people to report a problem and feel like the threat or danger will be taken seriously and at least investigated!
Some people do call with BS, and for that they have this great new system called the Dumbass Law (not it’s real name, but you get my drift) where idiots have to re-imburse the system for wasting the system’s time.
Anyway, rant over, just my humble opinion!
    Love the Demon!

Mazzi – I whole heartedly agree. We had this discussion last night, and decided that the threshold someone has to cross for you to actually BELIEVE that this kind of thing is immanent is immense. Too often people say things in frustration or attention seeking, making it impractical to take every case seriously, if, indeed, any can be taken seriously.

I don’t believe I have ever heard a threat that was actually carried out. By saying that I mean to point out how rarely it happens, not that it doesn’t. The wisdom in these situations always comes in hind site, and then the ignorant jump on the family and friends and say “why didn’t someone say something!” Monday quarter-backing is always easy.

…did I think the bich would harm her kids?? Hell NO! What Mother would…

Sadly, this site is full of mothers who did.

  • cassidymarie83

I understand what you are all saying and I agree with most it, but who goes to detail and says “i’m going to shut us in the garage and start the car”…that’s quite different from “i wanna kill so and so”…that was a little too detailed and what harm would it do in trying to stop it? Doing nothing at all was her choice and I’m not judging her, just saying she will live with guilt from that, who wouldn’t?

LoL, good one thinkgoat. You know that bitch be crazy, if she says stuff like that.

She’ll plead insanity and everyone will buy it cause who in their right mind would plan to take their children to Neverland Ranch?
