Cory Clarke Takes 2 Children To Walmart, Checks Out With One
July 7, 2009 by thinkgoat
Monticello, NY On Saturdays around the county, Walmart parking lots are buzzing with cars circling to get the closest space to one of the many entrances. People come crowding in to spend their hard earned money on the “Always Low Prices” but unfortunately SaturdaySaturday reviews
, in Monticello, NY, shoppers arriving for the afternoon bargains were turned away – the store had unexpectedly closed for several hours. What a bummer for Cory Clarke, a father who had his two children for his first paternal visitation. He put his 7 month-old daughter Brook and 18 month-old son (?) Charley in a double stroller and trekked roughly 3 miles to the spend some quality time in Walmart with his children. One problem, after he finished with the checkout line, his load was approximately 17 pounds lighter, little Brook was gone.
Police shut down Walmart and the parking lot around noon. No one was allowed in the store nor allowed to leave. Authorities searched cars thoroughly – opening trunks looking for this 7 month old little girl. Daddy Cory claimed his daughter went missing out of that damn stroller when he was not paying attention in line but his 18 month-old was still seated and was safe and unharmed. A coordinated and massive search effort was set forth by the State Police and 3 county police departments, as well as the Monticello Fire Department.
As police released searched cars from the parking lot and the crowds had dispersed, a scream filled up the space that had once been occupied with tension. I imagine there’s nothing quite like hearing a scream such as the one emitting from the lungs of the children’s maternal grandmother…and they were screams of joy. “They found her!” They did. Almost 5 hours later a police officer heard her crying, found her face down in the mud, about 150 yards from Walmart, by an abandoned bungalow. The mother of the children, Michelle DeRocca, emerged from the store holding tightly onto Charley upon hearing the news. Her face red and swollen from her emotional afternoon.
Was Cory Clarke as ecstatic as his ex and her parents? Well, not after the police were finished with him. Cory, age 27, was arrested and charged with second degree attempted murder, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and falsely reporting an incident in the second degree. I’m not sure, but I don’t think Cory planned that whole thing out very well. Why ditch one child and not the other? I wonder if he had plans for the 18 month-old as well. I’d say he is not only fucking stupid, but lucky. I’m sure he won’t view it that way when he finds his job in prison is picking up everyone’s soap.

I sure would like to hear a little more on this one…like, what the fuck was he thinking?

With the security cameras all over these stores, especially at the check out lines, I was waiting to hear that the cops checked the footage and found that he never had the baby with him in the store to begin with. I wonder why didn’t they just check the security footage?

I’m thinking the same thing, roll those cameras. Sad as it is, lots of sperm donors put no value on their daughters, only their sons. Times are tough, 2 kids getting a tad pricey? Lose the daughter. This guy looks a few crayons short of a full box anyway. I’m so glad that the store went to such an extent to find the child and that she was recovered. That poor mother, I’m surprised she didn’t strangle him to death with her free hand.

I’m so happy the baby is OK.

Thats something I will never understand, as the girls I have are vastly superior to any boy I have been around. I wouldn’t change a hair on their head. I think that there are some that put no value on human life period, and any perceived affinity for a son is an illusion based on what he represents rather than any real love or affection.

I like to call it the “Tudor Complex.” Guys who want a son to carry on the family name or whatever macho bullshit they think having a son means. To them a daughter has no hope of ever meaning as much. I never really became aware of it until my husband and I were pregnant with our daughter. His dad was so disappointed, the first thing he said when I told him was “Well, y’all better hurry up and make me a grandson.” He hardly ever sees my daughter but he babysits my sis in law’s son almost every week. It’s so funny that people still think this way, but since time began, many men have (either consciously or subconciously) put less of a value on their daughters. I worked with a few girls back in the day who had kids, and the ones with girls were all single. The ones with sons were “engaged.” Coincidence? I’m not saying ALL guys are this way, but many certainly are. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case here, but it’s just a theory on my part.

It sure seems that a lot of crazy shit goes down at Wal Marts.

They must have reviewed the security cameras and/or had witness acounts that he did not have the baby with him at Wal-mart.

Thinkgoat, Thanks for putting Cory Clarke up front! Thanks Booblady, for the latest link!!
Assclown, Cory figured out that the 18 month old would’ve been able to get up and walk away, but, a 7month old, she probably wasn’t crawling yet! Thank God, she was able to, use her healthy lungs long enough to be rescued…
I think the PoPo should find a very deep “mudhole” and put Cory Clarkes head in it while hanging upside down and handcuffed, dunking him several times, then put him in a padded cell without removing the mud (or handcuffs) from his nostrils, give him back, what he gave out……
Recover and Be Victorious, Little Ones!

I also think Walmart could ask for Cory Clarke to pay restitution for all the revenue lost to them because of his Asshattery!! That would keep Cory on the chain gang awhile(probably life) and it might give the children an opportunity to grow up healthy, happy and productive!!

What a vile son of a bitch…I wonder what his plans were for the 18-month old. Couldn’t have been any better.

I know Cory, his kids were his everyday life, lost his kids and visitation privilege after reporting that his kid charlie had a bruise and someone had injured his child. That was a month or more ago.
After that he wanted to get them back and he couldn’t stand both his kids being with his mother. It is a shock.

I wonder if the child fell out of the stroller while he was treking to walmart and he just didn’t notice she was gone for so long.

he father accused of abandoning his 7-month-old daughter in the woods on July 4 near Walmart now faces charges that he sexually abused her and then left her to die.
Cory Clarke, 27, of Monticello, was indicted Wednesday by a Sullivan County grand jury on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree incest, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child, all felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
He is accused of abusing the baby on July 3 at his home at 3 Mill St. in Monticello.
Authorities say on July 4, he dumped the baby in a grassy, wooded area near an abandoned bungalow colony on Lanahan Road, where she wouldn’t be found.
Clarke reported her missing to a Walmart worker at 12:36 p.m. July 4. She was found alive by a state trooper five hours later, lying face down in mud and tall grass, wearing a shirt, and no diaper or pants. She was about 75 feet off the road and 150 yards from Walmart.
If convicted, Clarke faces a maximum sentence of five to 25 years in prison on each of the top charges, Lungen said.

Whoa. You, know, ecvmanzo, I think just hearing that it happened would suit me just fine. I don’t really need to see that.

Athena, I agree I too would rather just hear about it. But I am so sick of these types of crimes that I let my emotions take over sometimes. Yeah that wouldn’t be something I want permanently etched in my mind either but it sure as hell would make me feel better knowing it did happen. Sorry if I offened anyone, not my intention.
