Allen Superior Magistrate Robert J. Schmoll sentenced Amanda Alvather to two years in prison and four years on probation. She was ordered to have no contact with her children, to obtain substance abuse treatment and to attend parenting classes.

A Fort Wayne woman traded a guilty plea for a two-year sentence Tuesday after her three children were allegedly found wearing dirty clothing, covered in filth and feces, and smelling of urine.

Amanda J. Alvather, 24, of the 300 block of West Creighton Avenue, was charged in July with two counts of neglect of a dependent – one a Class C felony and one a Class D felony, according to Allen Superior Court documents.

Alvather took a plea deal Tuesday that gave her six years for the first count, with four years suspended, and 1 ½ years suspended for the second count to run concurrently. She also received four years of probation.

As a special condition of her probation, Alvather must submit to a psychological evaluation and must comply with and complete any recommendations made from it.

A no-contact order was also issued, so she will not be able to see her children, who had been removed from the home. She is subject to supervised visits, according to the plea agreement.

The state had no objection to Alvather serving her sentence in work release or with direct placement to community corrections for assessment, education and treatment, if eligible, the court documents say.

Alvather is to be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26. The judge at that time will decide whether to accept the plea deal.

Hey Rotten Apple, are you talking about the 3 men who fathered these three children? Or are talking about all men? Don’t lump us all into one because of 3 dead-beat dads.

I’m talking about who ever fathered this bitch’s kids, but I will say one thing. I know lots of men that are GREAT fathers. Men that will fight until they have nothing left for the chance to parent children, yet time after time we see mothers and stepfathers/boyfriends/penis of the week featured on this page as the ones who hurt the child and it is very rare that we hear anything about the biological fathers.

Children that are victims of neglect? Come on now, I believe that if requires more than one person to conceive a child, then it takes more than one to neglect that child. Why is this guy not being brought up on charges for not checking on his kids or knowing what situation they were in?

It is far too easy for men to get some nasty skank pregnant and then take off. They don’t ever have the same FULL responsibility that the female has. A check is not enough. Many women can handle it on their own, but then there are some like this one. Quit making babies if you are not planning on being involved. Simple as that.

They have a better life now than myself or clearly their parents could have given them….and its not that hard for someone to “prove” to the courts they have changed….the situation I had before….the kids were given back to the parents and then taken back months later….because they said the mother was fit again…go figure…

My cousins (two sisters) both had their children taken away. My mother was called by CPS and was told that her sister requested that she be the one to take her grandchild in care.
The baby was 18 months old when she lived with my mother for a year and in that year my cousin was required to take drug tests every couple of weeks and she did so at the end of that year she got her child back. Mommy never ask the state for help, although baby girl had a an medical card and that was all that was given out to help. Mommy and I took care of that child. I took her from Thursday nights till Sunday to give mommy a break. We are the ones who feed her and took care of her but at least she worked on getting her back and for the last 4 years has done a damn good job…

My other cousin (a sister of the first cousin) lost custody of her first child to the grandmother of her child and when her 2nd child come along they took it the day she had it (drugs) so that was 2 children that were never given back to her and the 3rd child she was allowed to keep because she is off the drugs.

My point is that sometimes it takes the state taking the children away and placing restrictions on them to get them to grow the hell up and be the mother they are supposed to be, so your bullshit reason isn’t enough. Hell, you don’t deserve to even be called Godmother!!

And clearly u don’t know the system well…I’ve been through a situation like this before…if u r granted guardianship yes they pay….but there is still a chance the parents can get them back….so SURE I would take them and risk these people getting the kids back just so the state could pay….sorry not gunna bring them into a situation for them to be put back to one like this….learn ur facts….then try and come at me….

2nd … if you had done something instead of worrying about being paid and took those children then I know good and damn well that even if they try to take them back they won’t get them unless they have proven to the courts that they are straighten up.
