Amanda Alvather Isn’t Sweet But Her Children Are

Fort Wayne, Indiana I imagine it’s extremely difficult to be a conscientious DCS employee and manage to keep your ass out of jail. It must be a balancing act composed of restraint and resourcefulness. Those employees who are an attribute to their profession seems to go to any length to make a difference in children’s lives. The bad ones seem to lend a helping hand with destroying them. And as I sit here attempting to write up this story I have to wonder just how in the hell these DCS case workers kept from turning on Amanda Alvather and not beating the living shit right out of her for what she did to her children.

In October, DCS workers contacted police to help investigate a report of child neglect. Once inside they found Amanda’s three children malnourished, lethargic, and covered with feces while wearing clothes soaked with urine with the smell permeating through the apartment. Her children, aged 1,2, and 3 years old all suffered from different forms of neglect. The two daughters showed old signs of frostbite as there was no heat in the apartment. , the boy was put in her arms. “I didn’t think the little guy would make it until the weekend I really didn’t. I thought I was going to break him. He was nothing but bones and I mean you could feel every bone in his body. He was just real thin. It was like an Ethiopian child or like an abandoned dog that hadn’t eaten for days.” It was also apparent the child had not been given the proper medical attention he required for his Down’s Syndrome. (He was 2 years old and weighed 13 pounds)
Amanda blamed her financial situation for the neglect and the fact she had not properly cared for her children. And even though her picture looks as though she were busy feeding herself, she managed to keep her children “nourished” on homemade glucose. (sugar water) Yep, that’s right! Her children existed on sugar water. Their living conditions were horrendous as well. Harmful chemicals were found out and accessible, there wasn’t sufficient food and liquids for consumption, and it seems Amanda placed an additional lock on her apartment door to keep her children nice and cozy while she was away.
The children were immediately removed from Amanda’s care and into the hospital for evaluation. All three were suffering from a delay in developing their motor skills as well as not being able to speak. The 2 year old boy was admitted to the hospital for dehydration, hyperglycemia, and neglect. Although the children were removed prior to anything more catastrophic happening, Amanda Alvather (24) was charged July 2, with two counts of neglect of a dependent. What the hell? Way to be a great mother to these children Amanda. Way to stuff your face while your children were starving to death. It takes a badass to leave children that young to freeze while you were obviously comfortable doing what you wanted. I hope the authorities find more charges to slap on your pathetic ass and you spend a great amount of time locked away thinking about the shitstorm you created for yourself and your innocent children.

Yeah, my heart hurts for these children; 2 years old and 13 lbs, with Down’s no less. One of the few things that pisses me off as much as child abuse/neglect, is abuse of the mentally handicapped or dependent adults.
Here’s hoping that she chokes to death on the mystery meat dinner that the county lockup serves.

There is only one father and I don’t know why he wasn’t aware of the conditions. One article said that there was a boyfriend living with her who had a warrant. Several comments from an article said she was two months pregnant AGAIN. There was supposed to be a story on the local news where the father speaks out last night at 10, but I can’t find it.

Unfathomable, how this mother could walk around totally tuned out that her children were in such despicable condition, is beyond my comprehension. The booblady did some research back in the forum area and produced the biological father’s myspace page. It looks as though he is at least starting to take an active roll in seeing the children. I also have to wonder how far away Amanda’s mother lived. She was able to be present when the children were pulled from the apartment but she hadn’t seen the grandchildren in a while? However, if her daughter were making sure she took of her little hindrances, so it’s not surprising if she attempted to cut ties with anyone who may pose a problem with her well laid plans.

First…I am the godmother of these 3 wonderful kids…I have known amanda for a very long time…after amanda and the dad split…she lived with her mom…eventually her and her 3 kids moved in with my sister and I…yes while she lived with us…I had issues with her parenting but I made sure they were eating and taken care of, as did my sis…now that we have heard her screwups…let’s talk about dear old daddy….while staying with us…he would repeatedly say the youngest was not his…so the FEW times his mother(the grandmother in the story) would get the kids….she would not take the youngest….and he says he couldn’t be there because of a protective order against him for beating amanda….well then why was he on my porch with amanda because he finally wanted to see the youngest?! She would ask him for help with diapers and formula and things like that….he would give the money to his mom….let’s say 80.00….she would buy 1 package or container of maybe 2 or 3 thngs she needed…and keep the rest of the money….he told me that himself….yes I am glad they are in a better enviornment….if I had a job that paid enuf…I would fight for them myself and take all 3…I love them and miss them and I still look at all the pictures I have of them…smiling…laughing…playing….the oldest talking…when the youngest rolled over for the first time…the things the boy with down’s taught me….but I don’t think he deserves them either…nor does his mother!

I grew up with Amanda. She is my friends cousin.I can not believe a person could do this to their children. One she cant keep her legs closed …leaves one daddy for another loser and gets preggo by him. I dont understand. I will say circumstances growing up werent the best but that is no excuse for blatant failure as a mother. Obviously she was fed.I will never understand how losers like this can have kids and people who deserve to have a child to love can’t….

If you knew that she wasn’t a good parent then you should have done something about it. You know, even if you were working and had the state were to give you control of her kids, the state would have paid for medical expenses, food and perhaps even for you to put a roof over their head but evidently you don’t know things like that.
I am not taking up for her, because I think the bitch should have the shit beaten out of her but if you knew about her parenting skills and did nothing then you are no better.

And yet people still attack me….I wasn’t worried about getting paid but I knew my life wasn’t right for them…and if I would have know where she moved to….I would have contatced authorities…kinda hard to do that when I dnt know where the hell they are don’t ya think…say wat u want about me…yes they would have been better off with me but they are better where they are now than they would have been even with me…I’m one of the smart ones…I dnt have the time or means to take care of kids….SO I DONT HAVE ANY! So like I said go ahead and come at me like the bad person I could care less! They have a better life now than myself or clearly their parents could have given them….and its not that hard for someone to “prove” to the courts they have changed….the situation I had before….the kids were given back to the parents and then taken back months later….because they said the mother was fit again…go figure…

Oh well… I don’t understand why you are even still responding. You were acting like you are worried about those kids but yet you DID NOTHING…
My cousins (two sisters) both had their children taken away. My mother was called by CPS and was told that her sister requested that she be the one to take her grandchild in care.
The baby was 18 months old when she lived with my mother for a year and in that year my cousin was required to take drug tests every couple of weeks and she did so at the end of that year she got her child back. Mommy never ask the state for help, although baby girl had a an medical card and that was all that was given out to help. Mommy and I took care of that child. I took her from Thursday nights till Sunday to give mommy a break. We are the ones who feed her and took care of her but at least she worked on getting her back and for the last 4 years has done a damn good job…
My other cousin (a sister of the first cousin) lost custody of her first child to the grandmother of her child and when her 2nd child come along they took it the day she had it (drugs) so that was 2 children that were never given back to her and the 3rd child she was allowed to keep because she is off the drugs.
My point is that sometimes it takes the state taking the children away and placing restrictions on them to get them to grow the hell up and be the mother they are supposed to be, so your bullshit reason isn’t enough. Hell, you don’t deserve to even be called Godmother!!

I’m talking about who ever fathered this bitch’s kids, but I will say one thing. I know lots of men that are GREAT fathers. Men that will fight until they have nothing left for the chance to parent children, yet time after time we see mothers and stepfathers/boyfriends/penis of the week featured on this page as the ones who hurt the child and it is very rare that we hear anything about the biological fathers.
Children that are victims of neglect? Come on now, I believe that if requires more than one person to conceive a child, then it takes more than one to neglect that child. Why is this guy not being brought up on charges for not checking on his kids or knowing what situation they were in?
It is far too easy for men to get some nasty skank pregnant and then take off. They don’t ever have the same FULL responsibility that the female has. A check is not enough. Many women can handle it on their own, but then there are some like this one. Quit making babies if you are not planning on being involved. Simple as that.

I found this the other day and was just able to come on and post. I know this father personally. He loves his kids more than anything. (ALL THREE OF THEM). He refused to take a DNA test because he says they are his babies. He is doing everything he can to get them back in his life. There is no reason to bash him for anything other than sleeping with that stupid girl. I know more about this case than that so called “god-mom”. She doesn’t know anything about those kids other than she likes to try and get the two parents back together if it’s the girl I believe it is. She needs to back off and keep her nose out of it because she is just as guilty as anyone else who saw what was happening and stood back to do nothing. I know for a fact the grandmother had the kids a lot more than people think she did. All three grandkids. This all happened in a span of about two months. The father was trying to go for custody of his kids at the time they were taken and I know he would do anything for his kids. There was a protective order that he couldn’t be near Amanda or the kids because of something that was said and was a lie.
