Robbin Banister Gives Love A Bad Name

Clovis, NM- He was stabbed in the heart and she’s to blame because she gives love a bad name. Heh. Sorry, but I’ve had that ear-worm in my head all morning and felt like sharing. On the night of June 10, Clifford Webber, 37, left work never to return again. Why? When he got home, his girlfriend Robbin Banister took a steak knife and stabbed him in the chest. Police are unsure of the motive, but neighbors have stated that the couple did seem to argue a lot over money. During the next three days of 90 degree weather, Webber’s body remained lying on the floor of their home while Banister tried to find some brainless dolt stupid enough to help her get rid of it.

Enter the brainless dolt. On the night of June 13, Banister met up with her friend, Jerry Hemmerling, and told him a man had stabbed someone at her home. Hemmerling followed Banister back to her residence and noticed a foul stench coming from within. Once inside, Banister showed Hemmerling the body wrapped in a blue plastic sheet. She then covered it with a blanket and asked Hemmerling to help her move the body to an abandoned house next door. While dragging the badly decomposed body to its new destination, Hemmerling saw an arm that appeared black in color and assumed the corpse was a black man. I know, I know. When I first read this, I thought there’s no way this guy can really be this dumb. Well, that was until I seen his mugshot. I laughed so hard, I pissed my pants.
Hemmerling didn’t stay quiet for long. A few days later he went to police and reported the body. On June 16, investiagtors suffered in 90 degree heat as they removed Webber’s body from the abandoned home. When they first questioned Banister about her boyfriend’s murder, she said a co-worker of Webber, Jerry Hemmerling, and another unidentified man had been at their residence on June 13. During an argument over beer, the co-worker stabbed Webber in the chest and fled. Banister said she chased after the man, but couldn’t catch him. Banister said when she returned to the house, Webber stumbled, then fell and kept asking for her to help him. His last words to her were, “I love you.”
Investigators learned the man Banister identified as the killer had an alibi for that night and he also suffers from medical conditions which prevent him from running. The other man also had an alibi for that evening and said he had not seen Banister that weekend. After numerous inconsistencies with her story, Robbin Banister, 45, was charged with murder, two counts of tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence. Banister has a criminal record for battery and battery against household members. In August 2008, she was charged with misdemeanor assault on a peace officer and evading arrest. That case is pending an evaluation to determine her competency to stand trial. Jerry Hemmerling, 28, was arrested for charges of tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence and he is being held on $15,000 bond.

And, as doofy as the guy on the end looks, at least he alerted the cops. He may be slow, but somewhere inside he has some morals and ethics. I say good for him!

RIP Cliff…. We love you, cousin! He had such a rough life…I REALLY hope Robbin Bannister Rots… And I hope she doesn’t get off on some ridiculous insanity plea… And that police actually do something instead of treating it like they did his mother’s case… :/

Thank you, FlamingFox, for the sympathy. Our family is trying to cope. His ashes will be buried with his mother’s. We only wish there had been a way to help him in the past. He truly had a very rough life.

To all that has commented on Robbin; you have no idea what this woman has gone through. Just as Cliff had a “tough life”, Robbin is no different; most of you cannot even imagine. I haven’t read any articles where Cliff was even supported by ANY family members; they didn’t even show up until this happened. Where were you all? As for Robbin…it is my hope that she will be forced into getting the help she needs. If the death penalty is what is given, she will be, at least, finally at peace.

I’m sorry, but a tough life is no excuse to kill someone like she did. Obviously she does have issues and needs help, but it still isn’t an excuse, and she still does deserve to rot behind bars for this. There were a few family members of Cliff’s that tried to keep in touch and support him, my immediate family members included–we even tried to get him to move with us. But he didn’t accept help, and it was always difficult to get in touch with him. We tried though, so to say that none of his family members supported him would be completely inaccurate. There were some that didn’t, I can admit that, but We did.

blynn, until we all have walked in the shoes of people such as Cliff and Robbin, we cannot begin to imagine what mental illness can do to one’s mind. There is no excuse for any crimes of any sort, however, who are we do judge? Today’s society has become hateful, cruel and unforgiving with no end in sight. It is an absolute tragedy that any of this had to happened but I stand by my opinion that my cousin gets the help that she deserves; whether that be behind bars or not.
