Jerry Barker’s Bite Is Worse Than His Bark

Jerry David Barker, Jr. , 26, is a shit-head who was living with his girlfriend and her two young sons. This last Monday, his girlfriend’s sons were in the backyard playing with their puppy, Tater, when the puppy nipped one of the boys. Barker blew up and began kicking and beating the puppy relentlessly. I warn the more sensitive readers to skip to the last paragraph now. You have been warned.
Jerry Barker’s rage did not stop there. He tied the puppy up, hung it from a tree and continued to beat the poor animal with a shovel. While the young boys continued to watch this sadistic scum’s rampage, Barker grabbed a nail studded board and beat the puppy with it. Then, he picked up a garden hose and whipped the defenseless pup until his bloody body ceased to breathe air. During this entire rampage, Barker continuously tried to get the boys to participate in the beating, but they refused.
Barker buried the puppy’s remains in the backyard and told the boys that if they told their mother what happened, he would beat them just like he did Tater. Someone did tell, and Barker was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty and child abuse. He is being held in the Columbia County Detention Facility without bond. Investigators recovered the puppy’s remains and sent them to a veterinarian for an autopsy. The boys have been referred for counseling.
*Note: Sources had conflicting reports on the exact age of the puppy. One said 4-months and others said 8-months. Either way, it was still just a puppy who nipped at a child, as almost all puppies tend to do during various stages of their youth. No innocent living thing deserves to be tortured and beaten to death this way.

This is my first post, I usually just read the articles and comments, but I had to comment after reading this. I don’t understand who in their right mind could do something as twisted and evil as this individual. And the part that sucks the most is he will only get a handful of years in jail if that is even what he gets. It could be just me, but I do not see how killing a human is any different then killing an animal. Now when I say animal I mean something like a dog or cat or house. The more “domestic animals.” He really should be charged as murder instead of animal cruelty. I think the laws need to be changed. I’ve been reading stories like this for awhile now. I’m a psychology major and it just astounds me how some people’s brains work and how some can perform acts as heinous as this while others do not.

My puppy is three months old and a lovely pretty girl. Early there were times that she would bite hard on my fingers, toes, and even nip my face (ouch that hurt). After time, she has learned to be more gentle, even at three months.
This guy needs to spend serious time in jail. Not just for what he did to poor Tater, but those children that had to see this MONSTER abuse, kill, and bury mans best friend. I hate you Jerry Barker.
Funny your name is Barker, you piece of human waste. I hope you think of poor Tater every time someone calls you Mr. Barker, if you even deserve to be called Mr., you fuck sack of bile.

This reminds me of this sick freak not far from here, Daniel Collins, who forced his 7 year old daughter to stab her cat to death because he wanted her and her brother to “learn to kill.” What did Jerry want to teach those boys?
It makes me sick that the penalty for this sort of crime will never match it’s horrific nature. We’ll be lucky if he gets anything beyond a fine.

Wow, what an ASS! And the sad thing is this probably isn’t the first time hes done something like this…..errr I shudder to think. Did he think he would gain respect from the boys who thankfully are getting counseling. I’m glad mom turned him in instead of just brushing it off. This is one of nthose cases where justice should be returned on how it was dealt to poor Tater, lets string this bonehead to a tree and let the all the animal lovers out there teach him a lesson he won’t get a chance to forget.
RIP Tater, you were dealt a wrong hand.

Long story, but I have seen someone hang a dog. This was a wild pack dog that had killed some of our neighbors goats, very aggressive, a vicious animal. The instinct to survive is so strong, the dog was attempting to climb the tree.
It was very disturbing. I was 19 years old at the time and became absolutely HYSTERICAL. All of a sudden I feared my neighbors who I had known all my life. Men that had grown up with my father. (They later apologized to me, but whatever. They should have just shot him.)
ANYWAY. My point is. These children had to witness someone do something to an animal that was a beloved family pet that I, an adult, could not even handle being done to a wild animal. I bet it took alot of guts to tell their mom if he had threatened to do the same to them.

I am not sure it did. The stupid fucker had neglected to tell them what to say instead, hadn’t he? So what do they answer when Mum asks where Tater is?
It is not like she isn’t going to wonder. She probably fed the poor puppy and walked it. Mums usually end up with all the pratical jobs re: a pet. What on earth did Barker think was going to happen? She would just settle down to a household without Tater without wondering what happened?
