Donald Reeser Charged With Drowning Allie Croom

OKLAHOMA CITY - More boyfriend shenanigans in the case of a 2-year-old Allie Croom. On Thursday, she was with her mother, Amber Croom, her mother’s boyfriend Donnie Reeser, 29, and other family members. They were all enjoying some time at Lake Stanley Draper when witnesses stated they watched as the Dreeser began repeatedly and deliberately dunking Allie under the water. Investigators have not said if anyone tried to intervene, but if didn’t matter if they did or didn’t, as either way – Allie walked out of the water on her own but began acting strange and coughing up water. She was then taken to the hospital where she died.
Now these kind of stories always get to me, as you can check this link here and listen to an interview with the real father, Jonathan Croom. It brought back some memories of one of my many children when he was that age. He states that the girls mother called him “screaming and I just went up to Midwest City Hospital. They told me they were going to take her to Children’s,” Croom said. “I was on my way to Children’s and I got a call. They told me she didn’t make it.” Ugh. Like many single parents who have to leave their kids in the care of an ex, I was constantly worried about what slack-ass loser they may hook up with, and what the hell they may do to my screaming spawn. I can honestly say that stories like this always crossed my mind.
While all the specifics of what happened that day have not been released yet, there are a couple things you can glean off the couple news articles currently published. The interview with the neighbor (shown in video below) in which he relays an incident in which Reeser stopped by to apologize about any noises he may have heard that night between him and his “daughter’. That same news article quotes Jonathan stating that his roommate said that Reeser was “no good“. Also, both articles state the dunking was witnessed by family members and interviews with them and the hospital staff are what led to the charges. I am hoping that family members find us and hopefully explain if it looked like an assault, or just horseplay. If the former, why wasn’t anyone able to stop it?
In any event, Reeser is now a child killer and is in jail charged with one count of first-degree murder. What in the hell happened out at the lake is still vague, aside from the charges that obviously show that the police and prosecutors are convinced this was an intentional act. God knows nothing surprises me here anymore, but it just seems odd he would do it in plain view of the family. Guess we will learn more as further details are provided.

What a fucking pig. Even if he didn’t intentionally kill the little girl, he was repeatedly dunking her, and you KNOW she wasn’t enjoying that shit. Men like this make me sick. They get off on rough-housing with little kids, and their idea of rough-housing is one step short of flat-out abuse. I know the type. I hope he gets what is due to him.
Incidentally, Draper Lake is full of white trash in the summer. Or at least it was when I lived in OK.

Exactly. My father thought it was the height of hilarity to throw me up in the air really high, and then act like he wasn’t going to catch me on the way down. And then, of course, he’d get angry when I’d scream in terror, because I was a spoilsport for “not having a sense of humor.” And anyone who tried to get him to stop it (generally, only the women of the family would try to get him to stop) was a humorless bitch, too. Not surprisingly, he later moved on to other forms of abuse. Anyone who gets a kick out of a kid’s terror and tears, or who loves controlling someone smaller than them that much, is bound to enjoy those elements in other ways, too.
Even if it DID start out as mutually enjoyable horseplay, in those kinds of situations, there comes a point when it crosses the line for one party, but the other party has to keep pushing it in the name of “fun”–because as long as THEY think it’s fun, why stop? Even in something like a tickle fight among adults, there is almost always a point where one party (generally the physically smaller one) really means it when they say, “No, I mean it, STOP!” and it starts to take on ugly overtones when the other party just HAS to do it one more fucking time to prove that they’re the one in charge. If you’re willing to cross that line, even when you both started out just horsing around, it’s not very far to crossing other lines, as well.

Thanks for getting this one up, Morbid, and great write-up! Horseplay or not, what he did was intentional. This story brought back my childhood fear of getting in the pool when I was little if my much older teenage brother was already in it. I swallowed so much water from his “game” one time, I puked in the pool. I never went swimming with him again after that. I really thought he was trying to kill me.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. If a kid’s obvious terror doesn’t stop you dead in your tracks, there is something seriously fucking wrong with you, whether the kid’s fear is “warranted” or not. They are kids, they don’t know you’re “really” planning on catching them and to begrudge a kid for being scared is a mark of a bullying asshole.

I’m Allie’s Uncle. She was afraid of the water, very afraid. I tried several times to get her to swim with my wife, 8 year old son and I, but never forced her. She wouldn’t even put her feet in the water. I don’t believe for one second that she walked out of the water on her own. We have reports that neighbors heard screaming coming from the apartment not to long before this happend. Of coarse we didn’t know this until she was killed. I think he wanted to cure her fear of the water and went to far. It dosen’t take very much water to fill up little lungs. And we know she had water in her lungs because she had blood coming out of her nose and mouth. I have a friend who is a doctor. I talked to him right after getting to the hospital. I told him she was on ventalator, had blood coming out of her nose and was dead. He told me, your going to find out it probably wasn’t an accident. The mother, her 3 year old and his 6 year old witnessed the murder. After The Department of Human Services interviewed the kids the six year old is what prompted them to arrest him. She’s next, they are building a case right now, my brother will not have problem getting custody.

I’m so sorry for what happened to your family because of her mother’s choice in boyfriends. Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope you are right and that your brother gets full custody of Allie’s sister. Good luck to you and your family in this difficult time.
My father was a similar sort of “disciplinarian.” His idea of swimming lessons was to hurl me into the deep end of the pool. He would entice and goad my brother into tormenting me, but would punish him when I was inevitably hurt or upset. He made my brother and I go out to get sunburns because he thought that would clear up our acne. To this day, he treats his granddaughter (my brother’s daughter) like something that exists solely for his amusement. This kind of monster doesn’t change; he just gets more bold as he savors the spoils of his tyranny.
This piece of sewer trash needs to be locked up before he tries to cure another kid of her fears. He’s no different than the animal that beat his dog with a handlebar for being afraid of the sound of his motorcycle.

We were told it was an accident at the hospital. Had we known otherwise there would have been more arrests. We didn’t find out until noon the next day that it wasn’t an accident and we found out from a reporter. I just talked to my brother and they have issued a warrant for his ex-wife, they have completed an autopsy and now they want to talk to her. I think they found something…

Why would you dunk a 2 year old???? Make you wonder if sludge here didnt initiate her fear of water. She was only 2 if she was affraid give her a few years and take her to the YMCA for some swimming lessons. So sad this had to happen. I pray her family finds strength to get through this.

It is about time I get to speak I have known this guy for a looong time and I know the x she is a liar and lies all the time I dont even know if she knows what the truth is if she said it the only reason she opened her fat mouth is to try to get him back cause she is sick like that she hated that he was with someone else. he was caught choking her on tape and charges were dropped cause she didnt want to press them and she ran away with the kids and didnt even tell him she is trash. he has never paid child support so dont worry about that she is not missing anything it made me want to puke to see that they put something like that on TV. She was like 16 or 17 when she purposely got pregnant with the 1st son and her mom and grandmother slapped a VPO on him for seeing a minor before she got pregnant she was psycho about him and she thought getting pregnant on purpose would keep him and she would always have a hold on him she is weird like that. She should not even have the kids they should not even have those kids they are not taking care of that kid she refers to is brady and he is confused anyway she is manpultive and it would not surprise me if she told him to say that . She never has clean clothes for them the kid never gets anything to eat DHS please check this out those kids deserve better. There relationship is a crazy one it could be a soap opera. TRASH…

We had the viewing of Allie’s body today. Police had to be called on the mother because she dropped every F bomb she could while a funeral was going on in the next room. Her and her family that was with her called my aunt every word in the book (wrong person to do that to, she can hold her own) and decided after the funeral director came in to tell her to be quiet she wanted to fight. Why my bother decided to get involved with her and her family I have no idea. They all looked like they just rolled out of bed and had what looked like pajamas on, she is the laziest person I know. She came in crying about how good of a mother she was and that this all an accident. She never brought the kids with clothes, car seats, or food and they were always filthy. My wife has had to give the girls baths when they would come to my parents house. She was there she did nothing to stop it. Can’t wait for the State Fair tommorrow, I meant see her family, did I say that out loud.

I pray that the family finds peace with the loss of such a special little girl. But I do know that this is not the first of these types of incidents. It is known as Dry Drowning. There have been kids that are just fine and then within 24 hours they drown. It is sad thing. Do I think this person is a monster?? I don’t know, I don’t have all the facts. And everyone that has already passed judgement are fools! Looking at the father and brother, they had an avenue to take if the conditions they state existed. They were divorced in March of this year so I imagine that there are still bitter feelings over the break up. If the father was so concerned for the safety of his daughters he should have done more to ensure he got custody of his children. I did!! It is sad to think that he waited till something like this happened to try and get full custody. The state of Oklahoma is a hard state for a father to get custody but if you can show there is an inherent danger to the children you will get custody. I see this as just another tragic event that until the FULL facts are provided I will not judge Donald Reesler. If he did the crime then surely he will do the time. But being a retired child abuse/shild death investigator, that an autopsy shows old wounds but it never shows WHO caused them!! SO keep that in mind while you make your pre judgements on a person you don’t know. I don’t know this person but until the facts are layed out he is STILL INNOCENT in the United States. You know that old thing of INNOCENT until proven GUILTY!!!!! So all the comments about condeming this man is mute. Think about the family and pray for them to have the strength to endure this awful tragedy!!

She had only been with him for a month, we did notice things and my Mother and Father were going this week to help my brother gain custody. In Oklahoma you have to catch them with the crack pipe in there hand, the beer in there hand, there hand on the child. Letting you child get dirty doesen’t constitute taking children. We were concerned with the people she brought around the children. She had failed to meet the guidelines of the divorce decree. Sleepovers with the children in the same house, leaving the children with his Donnie’s mother which has had a stroke and has trouble taking care of herself. She had an open invitation to bring the kids to my parents or my brother anytime. She called my mother at 1:00 A.M. saying I just can’t deal with her. My mother said , bring her out and she did. Later we found out she had a guy over and Allie didn’t like strangers. She was keeping her from getting laid. When my brother seperated from her he left her and the children in the house and paid the mortgage. She couldn’t even keep house. You should see the pictures I have after she moved out, disgusting. I called a friend of mine who was a cop to ask if he could do something and he said no. She had to do something extra special to get involved. Some of these things we didn’t know until it was to late, his hands were tied.

Let me tell you this there is more here than we know. There are things that we do not know. I hold everyone innocent untill proven guilty. I have not seen all the evidence. But all of you have so convicted this person based off of news interviews. So we condem who the media says to condem. WOW why don’t we just let the media condem a person based off of their recount of the situation. We need to let the facts be conveyed before we condem a man to death. Trust me I believe in the death penalty when deserved. But I want to make sure that everyone does their job before we KILL someone!! And as far as the Christ comment, think, the populace convicted him, not the jury!! All I see on this site is negative comments! You people have no idea! There are things that appear to be one thing but are proven to be another! How shallow you must be to think that you are experienced in this area. How many of you are doctors?? How many of you have ever worked a child death case?? How many of you have had to deal with this shit?? Trust me the truth will come out!! And when it does it will tell all of what happened!! No matter what, JUSTICE will prevail!! The autopsy could have shown old breaks that need to be explained!! Whether by the mother or father or other parties. There is a way to determine a rough time frame. The first thing that would have happened is a full body x-ray be done. The next step would be to do the same with the living child to determine the same. Then to examine all kids the defendant had contact with. This is standard procedure. It will show a pattern. If a pattern of abuse exists it does not start over night. It is a cycle that starts with all little ones that have access to the defendent. You people have no idea what it takes to evaluate these type of cases. I did them for three years and could not take anymore. I will do what I can when I can but me and my family cannot take what happens. This is a tragedy no matter if it was a dry drowning or intentional. Let the facts come out before you automatically condem them!! Look on google for dry drowning and see what has been reported!! Then maybe you can see the other side of the story!!

Is Badmnrs claiming to be a retired investigator of child abuse and child death? Or is s/he just wishing s/he had that sort of credentials to ram down D’D’s throat? (ETA: In the mean time Badmnrs has posted to say s/he worked as a child death investigator for three years, but couldn’t hack it. Not that I blame him/her. I couldn’t do that kind of job. But I fail to see what any “old wounds” could possibly have to do with Allie’s drowning.)
In this case, as far as I can tell from the article posted here and in the forum, there is not talk of any prior wounding? I should say the drowning alone is more than bad enough, and unlike those “old wounds” you talk about there are actually witnesses to the drowning. As for presuming innocence…… We have the courts for that, and in the eye of the court he will be innocent until proven guilty. As long as we don’t try interfering with the judge or the jury, we can hold whatever views about this piece of garbage that we like.
At the very least, he dragged a child with a morbid fear of water into a lake and dunked her head under water a number of times. I don’t care whether he was “just” rough-housing or whether it was some mis-guided attempt to show her there was nothing to be a afraid of (”see, that didn’t hurt, did it?”); but he terrified her, and he caused her death, and I quite frankly don’t see how it could be laid at anybody else’s door.

I understand your hesitace in believing someone who has been there and done that. I got out of that line of work because it was hard as hell to look at dead kid bodies. But I did it as long as I could. As far as those vindicated, I did my best to prove everyone innocent. If I COULD NOT then they were guilty!! I had an 80% solve rate!! But neither I nor my family could adjust to what it did to me emotionally. Please tell me your credentials to say anything?? Besides being someone who reads the newspaper and takes it for the gospel!! Like I said We all need to pray for the fanily in this emotional moment. They are the ones that are hurting!!!! Not you or I. I hope that they can get passed this trama but I know they won’t. I have done those type of investgiations more than ten years ago and I still see the faces in my sleep. If you think I gave up because I could not hack it you are wrong. My family, i.e. wife and kids asked me to stop. They saw how hard I tried to get closure for the family. I understand what you are saying, I wouldn’t want to be accused of something I didn’t do. It’s not looking good for Donnie or Allie’s mother. I even understand he probably didn’t set out that day to kill Allie. I think he wanted to cure her fear of water and went to far. I know alot more than what I’m saying because we were told not to comment on intimate details. Being an investigator you know what details I’m talking about. Everything I’ve said so far is common knowledge. Believe me I understand the detectives have not told us everything. We wont know the whole story until September 17, ironically two days after what would have been her 3rd birthday.

Personally, my credentials are this: I’m actually literate and educated enough to know that it is not, in fact, the media which condemns anyone to death; it is the court system. I am currently in studies in the Human Services field. Maintaining a 4.0 since I started a year ago. I have completed 29.5 credits and I have one response to Badmnr. You are either lying and doing a poor job at it, or you were very terrible at your job. A Human Services employee does need to separate their emotions from the job and look at all the facts presented to them. That is what people on this site are doing, looking at all facts presented, however they are not HS employees so they have no need to leave emotions at the door. Also, I doubt very highly you were ever a CPS worker or if you were, I would hate to have been the auditor or supervisor who had to go over your case folders. Your grammar is horrible, spelling is adequate at best and your writing style is atrocious. I was almost tempted to list examples, but, aw why not?.

Really doesn’t need much more than to be shown to prove my point.
It is not a case workers job to prove innocence, not even remotely.
We are not detectives, we investigate claims and determine whether they are warranted for further action or not, so actually no matter what you have a 100% “solve rate”.
So, in addition to being super worker you are also a mind reader of people you have never met and never will? One of the golden rules in helping in Human Services is NEVER say you know what the person is going through, because no matter the circumstances you do not. You are not them.
I refer you to the fact I am currently top of my class in becoming certified in this field. I am glad that the reason you quit was because of the thoughts of other people because if that is the case you were wrong for the job. I also believe you need to refer to the proper use of the term flunky. I believe what you were looking for was the word failure, pretty much what you were. Also, as far as “investigations”, every one of my professors have a lot more than 10 years in the field and all have given me high recommendations and referrals to numerous agencies in the area and other cities.
To sum it all up. You are either a poor liar or were a poor Human Services employee.

Chadcroom, I was wondering why the police didn’t arrest the mother at the viewing when the police had to be called since it sounds like your brother said they had issued a warrant earlier that day? Doesn’t the police have to act on standing warrants?
