BOARDMAN, Ore. – See the tears that have formed on Araceli’s face? Tears just about to spill over and run down her cheeks? Well there are a few possible reasons for their creation. She is either remorseful for what she did to end up on the front page of dreamindemon.com, she regrets that she got caught and is facing a slew of charges or they are coming from the fumes that emanated from the porta-potty she dumped her newborn into.
Dave Marshall, a sanitation worker for C.B.’s Portable Restrooms, found the body of a newborn in the tank of a porta-potty on SundaySunday reviews
after it had taken to the town of Hermiston for cleaning. Marshall pushed a black plastic wand into the hole beneath the toilet seat to vacuum waste and felt something odd, said C.B. Kreutz, the company’s owner.
“He looked a little bit closer and he saw what he thought was like a doll,” Kreutz said. “And of course, it felt kinda heavy. … He looked closer and saw that it had an umbilical cord.”
The origin of the toilet was eventually traced back to farm workers outside Boardman and then to 21-year-old Araceli, a migrant worker who had been weeding vegetables on a farm for the last several weeks. While she did show a Social Security card to Atkinson Staffing Inc, a company that provides farm labor for Oregon, government records show no legal resident of the United States with Velasquez-Espain’s name and date of birth. This company also has a policy that requires pregnant women to provide a doctor’s note stating it is ok for them to work.
Velasquez-Espain is being held at the Umatilla County Jail on a $2 million bail facing a handful of charges that the prosecution has thrown at her. These include aggravated murder, murder, manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, criminal mistreatment and concealing the birth of an infant. I figure she concealed the pregnancy for obvious reasons, to keep working. I’m hoping that the baby was born dead. This still wouldn’t excuse the fact that she dumped it in a shit-filled toilet – but that’s a lot better than knowing a newborn died because it got a mouthful of human waste.

Pregnant and illegal, maybe pregnant by rape. I can hear it now, all the reasons why she did what she did. But nothing could excuse murder so heinous, so vile, as to dump a helpless newborn baby into a toilet of shit.
I’m with you Morbid. My hope is this baby was born dead, never knew the cruel world it was pushed into…..dying in a toilet. Unforgivable…..I just can’t understand.

I am under the impression that if they charged her with murder, the baby was alive. I mean, wouldn’t they need proof that the baby was born alive before they charged her with murder or is it something they would just try to prove during a trial?

I’d imagine the ME has already confirmed that the baby died by, well, “drowning”, for lack of a better phrase. They can’t charge you with murder, much less aggravated murder, for tossing a still-born corpse into a port-a-potty.

I thought it stood for “Corn Chips” – you know, because of the word “angel” being in it and everything.
Besides, angelito means “little angel”. The Spanish word for angel is still, well, “angel” – just pronounced a bit differently. I was just picking on her for changing the language to fit the subject featured. You know – like if she had been German then she would have called the baby a little engel. Or if she had been Japanese, a tenshi.

I hate this one more than the other women that leave their babies to die. To just throw your baby in a porta-potty to “drown” there, she can cry blood for all I care. She deserves no sympathy.

That is just fucked up. How can you carry a baby inside you for that long, & feel it kick & move, & then just fucking throw it in a porta-potty, knowing it’s going to “drown” in so much human shit? For Fucks sake, she didnt want to reach in and save the baby because it was in the blue disgusting water.????? Her story still has holes in it though and its probly worse than what was said. There was blood all over the place , her clothes, the walls, the floor…. Thats hardley going to happen in a quick birth like she said. Meaning she probly gave birth to it on the floor then threw it into the toilet. I dont see how the baby had time to take a breath of air falling less than a foot into the water. Seems to me , because she lied and didt tell about her pregnancy it was all about her keeping her fucking carrot picking job, more than keeping the baby. Thats just fucked up in my book. Two officials, Deputy Darrin Parson and Detective Rhiana Sheridan, arrived and retrieved the infant. They noticed blood on the floor, walls and seat of the restroom, which someone had tried to wipe away.
Among those who had weeded organic carrots, a detective noticed that Araceli Velasquez Espain, incorrectly spelled Belasquez, worked only two hours Saturday, while the rest of the crew worked for 10 hours. Nina Pyle, told investigators Espain left early that day, complaining of severe menstrual pain and bleeding.
At the hospital, a urine test confirmed that Espain had been pregnant, and a physical exam revealed she had recently given birth, They also got the results of the baby’s autopsy from the OSP Medical Examiner’s Office, which, from the presence of oxygen in his lungs, among other indicators, showed he was alive when he was born.
Espain said she had gone to the restroom and felt her water break, but didn’t feel any pain or pushing. The baby was born very quickly, she said. She stated she looked in the toilet and saw the umbilical cord wrapped in a ball with the placenta. Espain stated she knew her baby was underneath the ball but the blue water was disgusting and she did not want to reach into it. ( WTF!!! ) When asked why she did not call for help from the other workers, Espain said she felt like “everything was closing in on” her and she got scared and ran. She said she did not tell anyone about the birth and did not ask anyone for help. She went home and returned to work Monday morning.

Those pathetic tears are only because she got caught…If she gets the chance she’ll be pregnant again….what a world we live in.
