my ex was wheelchair bound and for whatever reason, we'd invariable run into these entitlement tards on train or bus and they'd REFUSE to unass the "Reserved for Handicap" benches (the benches fold up to allow room for wheelchairs) no matter how many times they were asked, or told by the driver/operators.. they'd refuse, or they'd pull the race-card saying the classic 'it's because I'm black, ain't it?' crap.. i always felt bad for the driver/operators having to contend with these lowlifes. :(

This one makes me want to wrap that friggin' stroller around her damn head and shove the end of it up her ass sideways..

i won't apologize for how i feel about this.
bitch can rot in hell for all i care

That's funny!!! My brother spent his entire 20's acting like one of these, everything from the rims, loud rap music, tinted windows, neon under the TRUCK, Tu-pac POSTERS in his TRAILER...
I secretly called him a "whigga".

And he wonders why he can't find a "nice" girl...

The woman's race, situation in life or anything else thrown at her doesn't entitle her to be such an inconsiderate little bitch; of course, she might think it does. In fact, these sort of people would be the first ones to pull the racial card or the "rich snob" card. In these times, people can't be 'played' with a guilty conscience since most were born after all the racial strife in the 60s... heck, most young people today enjoy and emulate the diversities of the other races in our country... just look around you! I have a nephew with fake gold teeth and he loves all things "gangsta"... he's as hillbilly as they come... I laugh my head off just listening to him talk his 'gangsta' talk... what a riot!

It was the part where she said:

HonkyMagoo: Now I bet the bus driver will be fired for racial profiling/discrimination for even asking her to put the stroller away...

THAT is where the comment got twisted. Good lord people, if something requires that much effort to explain away, maybe you should think of a different way to word it.

If Honky had a right to jump to a conclusion or use a stereotype to save time, so did anyone who took offense. Just like 17 year old girls with babies can be stereotyped to be on WIC and foodstamps, and using public transportation means you are poor, then people who scream that someone else is using the race card when that has not even happened yet, can be stereotyped as being racist.

Fair is fair right?

Athena used the word "stereotype" a few posts up. That word has gotten a lot of flack and has become associated with racism in the past 30-some years. In my psychology classes I have seen a trend towards using a different word instead - "schemas'.

The difference is that stereotypes (in today's language) tend to follow the visible attributes (skin color, ethnicity), whereas schemas have more to do with the personal attributes.

So, in this case, what we know is that we have a 17 year old mother who is riding on public transportation. I think that it is a fairly safe assumption that she is not successfully employed, since even a HS graduate at 17 is not likely to get anything besides a burger-flipping job. And, because she was pregnant at 15 or 16 (her baby is a toddler), chances are that she is NOT a HS graduate. The fact that she does not have a car would indicate that she does nt have a lot of disposable income or come from a wealthy family. So, the chances are high that this girl is on public assistance.

Next, she demonstrated that she does NOT follow the rules. She refused to follow simple civil rules that make things more pleasant for all of us. She then made aggressive moves to defend her defiance (pouring the milk) and finally assaulted the driver. I would say that those things indicate that she is not socialized, and is therefore likely to have an "entitled" attitude. That type of attitude is often a precursor to denial-type behavior. (I am being picked on because of ___fill in the blank ___). We can see that the girl is black. Therefore, the most logical excuse that the girl would use would be that she was treated unfairly because of her race (particularly if the driver was not also black.)

So, based on all of that, I would say that Magoo's post was not off target, or stereotypical - assuming that s/he used those actions to form the opinion. Certainly no more than the rebel flag, the trailer, the handwritten trespassing sign and the shotguns in the Muh case would allow a thoughtful person to form a schema (crazy-ass rednecks) about them.

A schema is simply a way of processing the facts quickly, based on the kinds of observations I walked through. We really don't have to go through the whole step-by-step process to say that a 17 year old mother on a bus with a bad fucking attitude is probably a loser, and I don't think that jumping to that conclusion is racist just because the loser happens to be black.

HonkyMagoo: Thank you Athena for understanding what I was trying to say. There sure seems to be a double standard around here when it comes to race. If you reference the article on Sheila Muhs (and her husband who sadly shot a little boy who they thought was on their property) you will see plenty of comments that could be viewed as racist towards white people. Almost every comment mentions either inbred, incest, trailer trash, illiterate, etc.. Even the title says “Redneck Psycho” but did anyone get upset about that? Oh no because there is a double standard. The thing is I agree with most of the comments! That couple fits the stereotype of so called “trash” and I’m fresh out of sympathy for any criminal of any color.

Again, I am not picking on you and I can see where you are coming from. I just want you to realize that your comment of racial profiling is what brought race directly into your comment. Whether I or anyone else agrees with you or not, that is it. Crackhead, methhead, redneck, trailer trash, etc are all derogatory names, but you are lumping an entire race including people who HAVE been the victims of racial profiling into the same category as this criminal. I don't know any other way to break it down for you.

And the Muhs were my story and I chose redneck. Should I be ashamed? No, because I am not saying all white people are rednecks, I am saying these people are rednecks and not the cool kind. Hell, I was told just last week I was the first Mexican redneck a certain person had ever seen. LOL! I just took it as meaning I was country. It made me laugh.

You have to accept that certain words and phrases are going to offend and make people think you mean something other than what you may have intended. Those comments are open to discussion...or attack, so choose wisely.

Black, white, hispanic that’s usually the way it goes.

Let's face it. Most 17 year old mothers are on WIC feeding off the public trough which since they don't have to learn responsibility get that sense of entitlement which makes them beeyatches. Their baby's daddy has moved on to the next vagina to create another progeny who will likely grow up another spermchucker or welfare mom and keep the cycle going. Black, white, hispanic that's usually the way it goes.

No problem. Us crackers gotta stick together, you know. :P

To some extent, HonkyMagoo, the double-standard is justified. After all, minorities still are minorities and still do suffer discrimination - something that white folks are much less likely to encounter. That gives them reason to be more sensitive about prejudice. That said, I hate to see people get all bent out of shape about comments that appeared to lack malicious intent, and I'd hate to see a relatively new member get tagged a racist prematurely. It can be hard to tell the difference, sometimes, between racism and what amounts to somewhat reasonable prejudice. And like you suggested, prejudice can "equal opportunity", so to speak. As a white person, I'm just as likely to make comments about "white trash" or "rednecks", too.

Thank you Athena for understanding what I was trying to say. Even the title says "Redneck Psycho" but did anyone get upset about that? Oh no because there is a double standard. The thing is I agree with most of the comments! That couple fits the stereotype of so called "trash" and I'm fresh out of sympathy for any criminal of any color.

Awww... no public transportation hate! Shit... I wish I could take the bus these days. Just making an observation about reasonable assumptions.

See, that would only be comparable had someone claimed that the white woman was planning on claiming that she was singled out because she was the only white person on a bus full of black people. It’s not the same.

No one would ever claim that because it doesn't often happen, even if it's true. So, you're right - it's not the same. That's why I didn't attempt to make a comparison, there, instead, opting to point out that minority organizations and self-appointed "community leaders" have been known to pull the race card when it has nothing to do with race.

To insinuate that equal rights groups would come to this bitch’s defense JUST because of her race and put her crime aside is just plain insulting.

Insulting? It was pretty effing insulting when "minority leaders" did JUST THAT after the 2001 Mardi Gras riots in Seattle, claiming that the depth and scope of the situation was fabricated by the media so they could unfairly persecute minorities, even though the video evidence proved unequivocally that the situation was comprised of groups of minorities running around in the crowd beating white people to death.

So, while you may find it insulting (and certainly, no insult was intended) that one would suggest civil rights groups would behave in such a manner, I find the assertion that they wouldn't to be a bit naive. They have found some pretty ridiculous situations in which to pull the race card.

That said, upon further review of the initial statement, I'm pretty sure HonkyMagoo was referring to the knee-jerk reaction of organizations who will preemtively fire individuals to avoid even the insinuation that there may have been discrimination involved. I just brought up the pharmacist thing because someone else already had.

Of course, I realize that you were trying to make light of the subject. Not so with everyone, though.
