Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaMonday morning, in the Kensington neighborhood of PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia reviewsPhiladelphia reviews, an 11-year-old girl had just dropped her little sister off at daycare and continued on her way to school. She was approached by a bad man…he wanted her to come with him. He threatened to shoot her if she screamed. Though the scared little girl didn’t see a gun, she complied and walked along with the evil man for several blocks before being forced through an alley and into a filthy backyard. For the next hour, the child was brutally and sadistically raped. When he was finished with her, he left her there, badly injured. It wasn’t long before police had a suspect. They wanted to speak with Jose Carrasquillo.

2nhj2gp Jose Carrasquillo Got Beat DownThough DNA results haven’t yet conclusively proved that Jose raped the child, other physical evidence linked Jose to that dirty backyard.  Fliers with a sketch of the suspected rapist were printed out and distributed throughout the neighborhood. Though he was not formally accused of the crime, the Fraternal Order of Police offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could help get him into custody. A couple of men in the neighborhood spotted Jose walking down the street. “Aren’t you the guy who raped the little girl?” one of them asked. Jose denied raping anyone, stating that he had daughters of his own. “No. I’m not having it,” Jose allegedly replied. And then, the beat-down commenced. About a dozen neighborhood residents got involved. Jose was beaten; with fists, feet, sticks, and boards, for several minutes. JusticeJustice reviewsJustice reviews, community-style. It’s a beautiful thing,” said a resident who declined to be identified. On a surveillance video, Jose can be seen lying on the ground, motionless, until police intervened.

Jose Carrasquillo, 26, was hospitalized and treated for numerous head wounds. Still compiling evidence against him for the rape of the 11-year-old girl, police arrested him on an unrelated warrant. The child was injured badly enough to require hospitalization. She underwent surgery Monday afternoon, and was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

I heard this story on the radio this morning.  The news I heard was there was a DNA match and there are possible other victims.  I heard the father speak about the girl he lost and that will forever be lost.  He also said his little girl had to have many stiches to her private areas.  Also I heard that this is not the first time he has been charged with this type of crime.  Like I said, I heard it on the radio this morning.  He should have his nuts cut off and be forced to swallow them. I also heard the mother is going to throw a party for all the people that got this guy once the girl comes home from the hospital.

I despise anyone who hurts vulnerable people. But, if this is NOT the guy, he has been severely wronged. If he IS the guy, then I have no sympathy.

I guess it all boils down to how sure they were that he was the rapist. If the victim was able to ID him conclusively and the word got out on the street, then I’m sorry he didn’t get a few more kick in the head, but if he was jumped based on that police sketch – not so much.

Either way, it’s a dangerous precedent. If they pulled him off the victim and knocked the shit out of him, then I would be cheering for them.

There really are no easy answers are there?

The drawing and the picture look pretty close and to release his name and offer a reward I would say they having some pretty daming evidence.  Glad the neighborhood got to him first, he deserved that.  To rape a child is horrible, but to rape a child to the point they need surgery….wtf!  Heal soon little one!

How horrifying; she needed surgery after what was done to her!  Can’t say that I’m a huge proponent of vigilante justice–in theory, I’m all for it, but in practice, well…that’s a whole ‘nother story.

Either way, he did certainly get what was coming to him.  Vile piece of shit.

I think this country needs more community-style justice, maybe these sick fucks would think twice before violating our children.
This poor child will be forever scarred-the sick bastard got what he deserved, too bad the police showed up before they were done with him.

The sketch artist went with the round face instead of the oval face… it would have been a dead-ringer in that case.

Though DNA results haven’t yet conclusively proved that Jose raped the child, other physical evidence linked Jose to that dirty backyard.

Oh, I think the neighborhood guys got the right guy, alright.  I will always wish we would execute these evil wastes of human skin… shoot em like the rabid dogs they are.

    Sigh…. I miss the hood…

“A day after angry Kensington residents pummeled a suspect in the abduction and rape of an 11-year-old girl on her way to school, Philadelphia officials had to walk a fine line.
While they would not endorse the street justice doled out to 26-year-old Jose Carrasquillo, neither would they condemn the actions of an impassioned community confronted with a horrific crime.
“I don’t condone violence,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said yesterday.
Although “members of the community were very upset over this, and some may have used more force than a trained police officer,” none will be charged, he said.”
You know the cops are laughing…

I share your ifs and buts on this one.

Part of me is delighted that he got his ass handed to him in a sling. Part of me is very worried that others might decide to repeat the success with less evidence supporting their actions.

“Community-style justice” victimizes or kills hundreds of innocent individuals every year. It should NOT be encouraged. Like Mazzi said, had they pulled this guy right off the girl, that would be different. In that case, tear the fucker apart for all I care. But the fact is, there was a chance that this was not the man they were looking for.

Cheer them internally all you want. But to publically encourage this type of behavior is to put the well-being of innocent civilians at risk.

My teen sons, were in the livingroom this morning hi-fiving eachother when they heard that this asshole got a beat down by an angry mob. I just couldn’t understand what was making them so happy on a school day, lol, and it was the beat down.

That 16 year old kid with the stick got at least 1/2 of the 10K.  I think it was two 16 year olds who got the reward.

According to the law, they were within there rights to use force to detain a wanted dangerous criminal. The gray area is the amount of force used to detain him.  Any pain that tard got from the mob is no were close to what he gave that poor little girl.  I hope he gets some more beat downs while he rots away his life in prison.

With all due respect, Uvgottabkiddin, the Death Penalty doesn’t deter murder. The Death Penalty.

If we can’t count on that to deter crimes, I don’t know that an ass beating will do the trick, either.

I think the police did exactly the right thing by saying that they don’t condone these peoples actions but at the same time they are not charging them.  You don’t want to encourage lynch mob mentality but you do want the community to take a stand agianst crime.  This was a fine line and the police, in this case, walked it like a tight rope.

The comments section of one article indicates that another man was attacked by this same mob when he was mistakenly believed to be the suspect.

That’s the only part that worries me. If he is not the right guy, then what happened to him is a crime. If he is the rapist, then the mob should have killed him. But unless there is irrefutable evidence that this was the perp, I don’t think that what happened was right.

The cops can’t protect us (that’s not even their job, really – their job is to clean up AFTER the fact). The only thing that can help keep us safe is the court system, and they are failing miserably. Whether or not he is the rapist, this guy should have been behind bars forever based on his previous criminal history. He demonstrated at LEAST 17 times that the laws don’t apply to him, so he has no right to be among civil people.

Really, 17 “proven” crimes. God knows how many uncaught crimes. WHY was this guy free to commit more? Stop using my tax dollars to fund useless programs, and use them to keep these lawbreakers off the street and away from the vulnerable children that are being subjected to the evil of these people.

IF the guy is the one that did the rape I am all for the beat down, but I hope they didn’t just willy nilly attack anyone who looked like that sketch.  That IS the problem with vigilante justice…oftimes the innocent suffer.  I admit it warmed my heart to think the rapist got some much deserved pain…but you have a point….what if it ISN’T him?

You don’t say. Gosh, I’m surprised. What was that ReDDs was saying about real victims? Looks like we’ve got two, now, as opposed to just one, thanks to this “noble” mob (who wants to bet more than one of the members of said mob have been guilty of crimes they could have gotten their ass beat for themselves?).

A man severely beaten by angry neighbors who recognized him from a police photo will be charged in connection with the brutal rape of an 11-year-old girl after DNA tests linked him to the assault, Philadelphia police said Tuesday.
    [...]

Darby added that he expects charges to be filed against Carrasquillo on Wednesday in the young girl’s attack and an assault on a 16-year-old earlier that day. Those charges will include rape, aggravated assault and other counts, he said; in the second case, police say, Carrasquillo followed the teen into a school and improperly touched her.
    [...]

Ramsey has said he does not plan to pursue charges against the residents who violently apprehended Carrasquillo, who spent several days in the hospital with head and face wounds.

In making that decision, the commissioner cited the high level of emotion in the community at the time, that the injuries were not life-threatening and the fact that the citizens backed off when police arrived.
